Out of state resident here to visit a friend, car was towed from visitors spot meant for visitors but now I guess you have to register your vehicle even tho its in a spot meant for you as a visitor. Called warrior towing and was told it would be $300 to receive my vehicle which wasnt parked in the visitors section for maybe 9 hours and then was told that if I wanted an earlier appt before they opened they would charge me an additional $50 because they werent open. I think this is ridiculous. For at least a first time offender why would you charge so much. This should be against the law as the spots are made for visitorsBusiness Response

Dear Taketa Johnston,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We understand that having your vehicle towed can be frustrating, especially when visiting from out of state, and we want to clarify the circumstances surrounding this situation.
The property where your vehicle was parked has a clearly defined parking policy, which includes the requirement that all visitor vehicles be properly registered through the designated system. Signage throughout the property outlines these rules and directs visitors on how to register their vehicles to avoid being towed. These procedures are in place at the request of the property management to ensure fairness, safety, and accountability for all residents and guests.
In your case, although the vehicle was parked in a visitor spot, our records show that it was not registered through the visitor pass system, which unfortunately constitutes a violation of the parking policy. Our team simply enforces the guidelines set by the property.
As for the fees, the $300 standard tow charge complies with state regulations, and the additional $50 fee for early or after-hours release is standard practice, as our staff must make special arrangements outside of regular operating hours.
We do empathize with your frustration and encourage all visitors to contact property management or refer to posted signage to understand the parking requirements upon arrival. We appreciate your feedback and will share your concerns with the property to help them evaluate if clearer communication is needed.
If you have any further questions or would like us to review this with you in more detail, feel free to contact us directly at 980-251-4838 or [email protected].
Sincerely,
Jay Guerrero

I am rejecting this response because:
You all pick and choose when you want to tow, if this was an enforcement that was to be upheld all the time, this did not happen. I have parked in that area several times before and was not towed so if your going to enforce these rules, it should have happened prior to this tow.Initial Complaint

I believe the public deserves to be aware of this issue.I am a resident of The ****** Apartments in *********, ********, On October 13, 2024, the apartment complex towed my truck at 1 a.m.for allegedly not displaying my handicap sticker properly (I have a resident parking pass). While the towing itself was unjustified (as I do have a valid handicap sticker), the real issue lies in the damages caused to my vehicle during the towing process and the apartment complex's lack of accountability. The towing process caused significant damage to my truck, ( Both differentials and transfer case were damaged) I have a 2013 **** Edge all-wheel drive, per the dealership, my truck was supposed to be towed with a flatbed). The towing and subsequent damages have cost me repairs which is over $8k, potential business income, and time.Emotional Stress: This has been a significant strain on my livelihood and personal well-being.Unethical Practices: The apartment complex's dormancy on the issue raises concerns about its ethical responsibility toward ************ also resulted in me having to move. Why This MattersAs a news outlet trusted to highlight community concerns, I hope you can investigate and bring attention to this situation. This is not only about my case but about holding apartment complexes and towing companies accountable for their actions. What I Hope to AchieveI am seeking:Public awareness about such incidents to prevent others from facing similar hardships.Accountability from the apartment complex to address and resolve this issue, including compensating for the damages and losses incurred.I am more than willing to provide further details, documentation, of the damages.Business Response

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, I parked my ************* GLA250 at ********** *************** (***********************************************) during ***** Homecoming. A Free Parking sign was displayed, with no visible Towing Enforced signs. Upon returning, my car was missing, and the Free Parking sign was replaced by two Towing Enforced signs.I called the towing company, and the operator immediately knew my vehicle without full details. I was told the car was towed by Warrior Towing and Recovery LLC (********************************), and I could retrieve it for $400 cash or $440 by credit, confirmed via ******* 6:06 p.m., I filed an incident report with the *************************************** regarding the misleading ********** daughter and I went to the tow lot and withdrew $400 from an ATM. Upon returning, the operator demanded my ID and refused to give it back until I provided my vehicle registration. After complying, I paid $400 in cash, but he demanded an additional $55, citing disrespect, and refused to provide a receipt.Key Points for Legal Case:1.Misleading Signage: A Free Parking sign was displayed, and Towing Enforced signs were not visible at the time of parking.2.Predatory Practices: The towing operator identified my vehicle without full information, suggesting a premeditated scheme.3.Unjustified Fees: An additional $55 fee was demanded without explanation, and no receipt was provided.4.Unsafe Conditions: The situation created an unsafe environment for me and my teenage daughter at night.Business Response

1. **Signage and Notification**: All signage at the location, including the Towing Enforced notices, were in place well in advance of the incident in question, and we can confirm that these signs have been clearly visible for several months. At no point was a Free Parking sign displayed where vehicles were parked in violation of our policy. We understand that misunderstandings can occur, and we regret any confusion caused.
2. **Towing Practices**: As a licensed towing operator, it is our responsibility to enforce parking regulations as mandated by the property owner. We can confirm that our team followed all standard procedures when towing the vehicle in question, including verifying the location of the vehicle and identifying it in accordance with the established protocol.
3. **Fees and Payments**: The $400 towing fee is in line with our standard rates, and the additional charges related to processing fees are applied based on our contract with the property. We strive to ensure all fees are clearly communicated to vehicle owners when they retrieve their towed vehicles. We understand the frustration this situation may have caused, but we assure you that the charges were applied appropriately.
4. **Safety and Conduct**: Our staff is trained to ensure all transactions are conducted professionally and respectfully. We regret any concerns raised regarding the interaction during the vehicle release process. We will review this situation internally to ensure that our staff adheres to the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.
We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and will continue to review our practices to ensure clarity, transparency, and professionalism. If you have any further questions or would like additional information, please feel free to contact us directly.
Sincerely, *** , Area Manager

I just got home and parked in front of my steps to get groceries out of the car. I told my sister to move my car & by the time she got downstairs & touched the door handle to move the car, the person was starting to hook my car. We were only in the house for a maximum of 5 minutes. The man got aggressive with my neighbors, he admitted to an innocent bystander that he did see us taking in the groceries, he did admit that he knew that I lived in the apartment complex & in my opinion I felt like we were targeted. I even expressed to him that I am disabled which is why I parked in the spot in front of the door to help me out because I was in pain. I asked him nicely to drop my car which my sister was sitting in. He never allowed us the opportunity to even move the car without getting disrespectful. He even changed the price of what he wanted us to pay initially and upped the price after the police got involved due to the fact that the scene got unsafe because there were children involved.Business Response

All vehicle impounds are done following rules and regulations given by the property management company. Your vehicle was parked in a handicap parking spot without proper documentation which is unacceptable at any time. Rules must be followed at all times.

I am a resident of The District Apartments in *********, **. On 07/02, my loaner car from ******** was illegally towed. Per my leasing agreement if there is an unknown car that a warning will be placed on the windshield and if the car was not removed within 3 days then it would be towed. There was no warning and it was clear that this was dealership vehicle due to the huge writing on the windshield and dealer plates. I called the towing company 3x with no answer and no voicemail for the business. It was only after my complex reached out that they returned my call. They demanded $385 to pick up the loaner car a day before the holiday. Just five days prior they did the same thing to another resident in this same complex on their rental car. This company is purposely targeting rental and loaner cars and holding them hostage until outrageous fees are paid. Their entire website is full of predatory complaints like mines. I am seeking a full refund. I have attached a copy of my leasing agreement regarding parking, pics of the loaner vehicle legally parked, proof of payment along with other complaints regarding this company.Business Response

In May 2, my vehicle was towed from the apartment complex where I currently reside.m due to not having a parking permit for my 2nd car and not parking in the visitor parking area/space. May 18 my car, same 1 was towed again for the same reason except it was parked in the visitor area not where the title is on the space. I only parked there because other cars specifically the grey Jaguar which does not have a parking permit either. Today may 20 the Jaguar is in the same space and has not been towed. Its 720am. Parking is from 8-8 going by what the rule is. This is straight discrimination and singling me out and Im not sure who to call except the ************ *************************. I have pictures and will continue to take them daily u til my money is refunded.Business Response

Please let this customer know that she was towed because of not following the rules and the jaguar she states doesnt have a parking permit does have one or it would be towed as well following the rules avoids having your vehicle towed.Customer Answer

I am a victim to predatory towing. With no signs on the street where the towing company took my car from. Not only that I was right by my vehicle. I was looking for information on about a house for sale in the neighborhood as a realtor. The person towing my car had barely hooked my car and refused to acknowledge any of my concerns and did not unhook until I paid the fee.Business Response
Date: 05/02/2024
We are contracted to enforce rules. We DO NOT participate in predatory towing. The community in which your vehicle was impounded, ****************, has a very strict NO STREET PARKING rule. They have signs posted at the one and only entrance to the community, and it is the responsibility of the drivers to read signs as they come into the community.Customer Answer
Date: 05/02/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
Signs must be visible on the street. It is not fair to expect public visiting a non gated community to know this information else should have been stated somewhere other than the entrance which is a good distance from where this incident has occurred. There are NO visitor parking spots alotted in a such a small neighborhood leaving members looking around .There must be time limits before towing up cars. Fees should be publicly displayed. You cannot charge an impound fee for unhooking a car. This is predatory behavior as I was left with no choice and under duress to pay with an underlying motive for profit for self.Business Response
Date: 05/14/2024
There are posted signs at the one and only entrance of ****************. You must drive by these signs to get to any part of the property.Customer Answer
Date: 05/14/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
Its clear that more signs are not posted on the streets is in your best interest and not of the public which is misuse of the law. This is not truly about maintaining hoa rules else there would be more information in the neighborhood to make this clear. The text on the board is fading and is so small yet youre expecting people turning in on a street where the speed limit is 35mph are going to be stop and read at the entrance. Youre not willing to change or make any efforts to hear customers out since its good for you. As long as your motive is served you dont care about anything else.Initial Complaint

March 20 2024 at about 1:40pm a tow truck towed my inspectors vehicle that was momentarily parked in front of the condo door, just to check if the power was on then he was going to park in the designated are...his car was open and unlocked with all his tools inside as he was just inside the door and went to just check water in the sink...the keys were even still in the ignition...I was on the phone with him when the towing company started to hook his car up...it was probably 2 minutes tops and he was not blocking anything at all, like a driveway...the inspector was authorized to be there and showed his business card, his tools and his work order...the guy driving the tow truck got belligerent and started to threaten the inspector as he was hooking the car up...the inspector begged him to not tow the car but of course he did it anyway...they impounded the car for no reason at all...he told the tow guy he was happy to move it and was just there for less than it would take a pizza delivery man...it was truly bizarre and inappropriateBusiness Response

On January 8, Warrior towing towed my car off the side of the road. When I asked them why I was towed, they said I was in a fire lane, but there is no indication that where I was parked was a fire lane. When I asked them again about why I was towed and told them that it was not a fire lane, they told me that they had permission from the fire marshal. I contacted the fire marshal, and they said that they had never done any sort of contract with Warrior towing and did not allow them to tow. The warrior towing lied to me and towed my car illegally.Business Response

A "towing company" scammed ** and forced me and many other pedestrians in a free parking area various amounts of fees in order for them to take boots off of our cars. We were parked in spaces clearly marked as free, public parking for pickleball courts at ********** in downtown *********. The company forced ** to pay them via Cashapp, offering only one form of payment for boot removal and means for citation. We were asked for $200, while other people were asked for $1000, $500, or various different numbers. The company claimed the construction company a block over had claimed access of the public street, with absolutely zero signage or street marking indicating that we could no longer park there. When we disputed this, they then claimed that we were parked in a fireman, which if this did happen to be true, the street markings are not up to city code as "Outlining or painting the fire lane on the roadway surfaces shall be done in yellow, red, and white with contrasting letters that read FIRE LANE 2 ft. X 8 Ft." The only indication could have been solid white lines, however, many parking lanes in ********* are organized this way and symbolizes street parking. We were forced to pay them as they rushed us before leaving quickly. Cops arrived on the scene and only could not cite them because they had left. Please let me know if there is any way we could have this refunded or not happen to anyone else. We have already tried to dispute the charges with Cashapp and our bank and are waiting on updates for that. (Road closed sign in images is equated to end of the street in which construction is taking place, not the regular, free public park parking. Thank you.Business Response
