I stay in the community *********************** in ********* **. Our community have a no parking zone but you are warned with a sticker before the tow company tows your car. This is what our hoa in our community stated to landlords and tenants the tow driver watched me park my car in front of my house and waited till i got inside to put my groceries in the house which only the reason I parked there. My car was not parked for 20 minutes and he hooked up my car and when i step back outside Im explaining to him what happened and what i was doing he did not care the first thing he said was theres a $225 dollar drop fee. For what reason when my car was not parked for 20 minutes. There was no warning sticker on my car and the hoa president even came out and said the sticker rule was true but yet he still let the tow guy tow my vehicle.

I live within the district apartments, a subsidiary of ********************************* in *********. I have a valid lease where I had to list my complete vehicle information. In my lease it states that a parking pass will be provided in addition, violations of parking by residence will be subject to a 24-hour warning. Warrior towing apparently has a contract with the complex where the towing company came and towed my vehicle over night at some point. When I went to retrieve my vehicle, I was told I owed $300 if paid cash, $330 if via card. I at first declined to pay and stated the unlawful taking of my vehicle amounted to theft, as I was lawfully within my right to park at my unit. He told me he could not visibly see the parking pass, and that he pays someone to go through the parking lot to look for cars without a parking pass visible. When I asked how that can be if the complex requires a 24-hour notice to tenants. He stated that was not his issue or his standard. I then asked him to confirm with the management company he said he is not required to do that, especially on a Sunday. I then stated I was going to call the police. He then threatened to increase price in 15 min increments and will make it even more expensive for me to get my car. So, I felt helpless and victimized so I had to reach out to a family member to borrow the funds. I feel this is predatory to be at your home within your lease parameters and to have your car taken and no one helps. The police say its civil but how can it be civil if tow companies have no license? Is it **************** position anyone can just take a vehicle under the guise that they are a tow company, and the owner has no other recourse but to pay the ******. Even the police are held to a higher authority that they cannot violate a persons property rights, so how is it plausible that a private company could have such broad authority to be able to infringe on ones ownership rights and ****** their property back to them.

This response was provided verbally to BBB.

The vehicle got towed because there was no visible parking pass and the business was just doing what they were contracted to. The business will not be offering a refund.
