      Ive lived here for years and now with the hurricane they are charging more than people can afford to pay on top of everything else we are dealing with and billing before the month has even happened how does that even make sense i havent used the electricity yet

      I just moved and Rutherford is the electric company who services this home. Moving in I kind of had high hopes but oh my gosh.. And what makes it worse is that they are not like a big company so who do you go to when you are getting no where with the customer support staff who work there. The first month my power bill was around 168$ I believe, and now my second month my power bill is close to 300$!!! Ive already had an electrician come out who suggest I reach otu to the power company to have them look at the meter, and my unit is new. The lady I spoke to ***** was not helpful at all, and pretty much refused to have someone come out to check/service the meter. I work from home, so I am here all day but moving from Duke to Rutherford there was a SIGNIFICANT difference in my bill. Far more than it has ever been in the past. This place is scamming people I 100% believe that, and someone should be looking into them. .

      Any member can request a meter a meter test once a year. Meters are required by law to be accurate.Going from one type of house to another with different tyoe of heat can affect power usage. We only bill for what goes through the meter.I would suggest the member check to be sure the outside heat pump unit is running as it should be. Most times we find the member ia running on heat strips. Cold weather will absolutely increase power usage.The member can call the office and ask for member service director for assistance. His job is to assist members with power use issues
