Deck Appeal (******) agreed via a contract/quote to build a tree house on my property. The suggested process was a pay as we go with advance payment for each phase (material/labor). Deck appeal took my last payment of $1,558.00 and never finished the job nor would answer or return my calls. Deck Appeal owes me the $1,558.00 as I received no material or labor for this payment. *** tried my best to contact them with no luck for months. At one point my calls were being blocked and now the number I had has been disconnected or changed per the automated message. My goal is to recover the money I am owed as I am having to get another company to finish the project and correct quality issues from what was done by deck appeal.

I paid for 2/3 of a completed covered porch 27ft x 22ft x 16ft x 27ft and many electrical lights wiring and lights themselves as well as taking out a partial wall and putting in a 9ft glass sliding door. *********************** with Deck Appeal only completed 75% of the framing and never filled in the holes for the posts (after numerous emails, texts, and phone calls with me asking him to finish). He never started any electrical or purchased anything for the door. He promised to have all materials delivered prior to framing start and that was a lie. ****** had the most outrageous excuses as to why he couldn't finish the job. Electrical:Electrical rough-in is required prior to framing inspection and ****** never had an electrician come to do any work. *************************** sub-crew cut off the existing floodlight instead of unscrewing from the flood light box therefore the electrician could not use the same wire to reinstall the floodlight. This is a huge expense to repair. Plus leaving the live wire was a FIRE RISK and my house could of burned down due to a live cut wire being left on my house for over a month before I had an electrician come to remove it and make it safe again at my own expense. Framing:The 75% that was completed by a sub-crew was a scary situation and many of the boards were incorrectly placed on the stairs and had to be removed and/or replaced to meet code. Since ****** didn't supply the crew with enough materials to finish while ****** disappeared for several days and even changed his phone number so the sub-crew would knock on my door and leave me notes asking for ****** and ask me to buy materials for them and/or pay the sub-crew to finish the framing since ****** was missing. When ****** finally started communicating with me again, he fired that sub-crew. ****** said he has personal issues and then stopped responding to me with my last communication on March 17, 2024. I want a refund for the services not performed and the materials not purchased out of my pre-payment of $13,550.46.

Hello, This guy is cheating me and keeps postponing the project. I have given him a total of 10,300 $ on 2/3/2024. He had some sub-contractors work on it and changed three of them. One of the subcontractors came and did some framing work. They hardly did 1 day job, and put the gravel on my driveway. It has been there for 20 days, and blocking my driveway. I have been waiting for him to come back and finish the work for 20 days. Please find the photos attached here and help me with filing a dispute. I initially found his company details in the Thumbtack website. I have hired few other technicians there and worked. I never had issues like this before from Thumtack. Trevor who is the owner of the company came to look at my backyard, gave me an estimate and asked for 30% deposit on 12/21/2023 saying that there is a sale going one for the concrete and he can get a best price for the stamped concrete patio. I have paid a total of 3,810$ on 12/22/23. He was supposed to start the project on 1/30/24 and came with another sub-contractor on that day. After that he said the initial sub-contractor is not coming, so he will be getting another guy. He never said that he was going to get a sub- contractor when he signed the contract. He said he would be working on it. He got someone on 2/3/24 who asked for another 30% to order more materials. The second sub-contractor did some framing and left for that day. From 2/3/2024 he keeps cheating and postponing the dates of the next step. He only picks up the call in the morning of some days and gives multiple excuses for not being able to come. He had some issues with his sub-contractor who came on 2/3/204 and he said he will get someone else to work on it. The previous sub-contractor ******** put some gravel on my driveway like 20days ago, and it is blocking my driveway. I have been asking Trevor multiple times to move that Gravel and start my project since he took my money. He keeps cheating and gives different reasons after few days.

I signed a contract with *********************** from Deck Appeal on August 28, 2023. I also made my initial payment at this time via a cashiers check for $10,200.00. The contract states that Deck Appeal is responsible for "all permitting". Work began a few weeks later. I made my second installment of $10,400.00 on September 20, 2023 via a cashiers check. I was told by ****** that it would take 5 to 6 weeks to complete the job. After the 2nd payment was made by me, work all but came to halt with one excuse after another as to why he could not complete the job. Sadly I made another payment of $4000.00 on December 15, 2023 in an attempt to get this project to the finish line. On December 18, 2023 I arrived home to find a yellow note from the ******************** informing me that no permits had been applied for. Since that time ****** has made several empty promises about getting permits filed but no longer returns my calls or text messages. According to the ******************** no one has ever contacted them about getting permits for this address in the last year. The deck is incomplete. I now have to hire an engineering **** to verify footings were properly installed. Since electrical was never inspected I have to hire someone to verify that. I am also searching another company to finish the work. It is my understanding that much of the current work will have to be taken down so the inspector can verify all work was done to code.
