I had initially contracted The NC Builders to build a carport for me back in June of 2022 with the stipulation the county would accept the proposal. I gave The NC builders a deposit of $4,437 dollars for the building. The county ended up denying the size of the building and I subsequently provided the sales person, David, the letter of denial. I then contracted NC Builders to build a carport with dimensions the county would permit. I was told that I would have to give a separate deposit of $2,672 (which I provided) and that they would mail me a check back for the initial deposit. The NC builders finished this building and we payed the remaining balance of $16,390.50. After numerous emails and phone calls, The NC Builders has yet to pay back the initial deposit of $4,437. I'm writing this as a second to last resort before litigation.

I have attached copies on inner office emails as well as the signed contract for the revised order that was signed by **** *******.

**** originally ordered a building in June 2022 ( a 30x50), his dealer service payment was $4400, then in January 2023 he contacted our company to revise his order because the city wouldn't allow him to have a structure that size on his property. His solution was to revise his order to 2 buildings that were 30x25. The customer then paid an additional $907 to The NC Builders because he had a $4400 credit and his new deposit was around $5300. The customer paid the additional money knowing that he upgraded to two buildings. The manufacturer installed the 1st building in May of 2023 and said the customer instructed them to come back later with the 2nd unit due to only having a permit for 1 building at the time.

In October of 2023 a man named *** ******** started contacting our company relentlessly. Making 40 plus calls to our company in a matter of hours, demanding we repay him $4400 for the original order. This led into a full blown investigation into this scenario and we have sent all information to *** to explain the changes that **** made to the order and why we don't owe them any money. The local authorities here in NC & the ******* County sheriffs office are now involved as well as our in house attorney and our corporate attorneys. If the BBB Needs more proof from us we will be glad to put you in contact with our legal counsel.

On 4/30/22 we purchased a building from NC Builders and put a down payment of $7119.00 the building was put in Dec 2-4. And we paid cash $31,147.92. Ever since it was built it’s been leaking ever since. We called NCB and one salesperson there proceeded to tell us: “that’s something that I discussed with my clients always”. Obviously, that was not our case! We wrote to the company just to pay for our expenses sealing the building, but they denied it, as in little letters in the contract it says: “the building base may leak”.
We would like them to pay for our expenses for something that’s we asked about, many times and now they don’t want to take responsibility.

This complaint is false and is down right infuriating. We went into great detail to explain the potential leak issue, and also included that the building may leak due to the type of lean to they had constructed. We also explained that this could be preventing by either changing the lay out of the structure, which the customer refused to do, or by sealing it with silicone, which the customer also refused to do. After the building was installed, the customer proceeded to contact the manufacturer that installed the unit and tell him that she wanted gutters installed (a service neither of us offer) , and that she wanted to be compensated for the gutters. The manufacturer refused to pay for gutters and offered to come out and seal the building himself. The customer became irate and started harassing our sales person, as well as the manufacturer. Her initial request was to have someone repair the building, once we explained that this wasn't a repair, that this was the issue that we warned them about before they ever placed their downpayment, she became even more irate. She called and cursed my sales associate, her manager and the owner of the manufacturing company that actually installed her building. The price of silicone is $20, which we offered to pay, the manufacturer offered to pay, and he even offered to come to the site itself and she refused. We are NOT responsible for the building leaking, we are NOT responsible for her gutters that she had installed, and we are NOT liable for any repair costs. This customer is yet another person looking to get something for free however they can, and we refuse to be held hostage in this situation. Our legal team has responded to her after she kept making harassing phone calls and sending nasty emails and BBB reviews. We will not be bullied into submission. The solution to the problem was the silicone sealant that the customer refused from the beginning.
