We purchased our home in June of 2018 and a 1-year home warranty was included. In June of 2019, one week before the warranty would expire, one of our two air conditioning units died completely. The home warranty company honored their terms and sent a contracted HVAC company out to replace the dead ******* air conditioner with a new ******* air conditioner.Everything has been fine with the unit until about 3 months ago. The unit stopped working so we've had our HVAC company, not the same one that was contracted to put it in by the warranty company, come out to service this air conditioner that was replaced in 2019. After examining the unit with a fine tooth comb they found that the motherboard shorted out and needed to be replaced. My HVAC company let me know that it would not be a problem because these components have a 10-year warranty. So he reached out to ******* to get a replacement sent.******* did send a replacement part as noted by the warranty, so I am not upset about that or arguing that point. But, when my HVAC technician was speaking with ******* they first stated that they would not replace the component because the original HVAC technician that installed this ******* air conditioner never registered the product with *******. Since it was not registered they would only honor 5 years of the warranty, not 10. If I had waited one more week to request this new component they would have denied me the part through no doing of my own. It's been clearly explained to me that this ******* air conditioner SHOULD have been registered by **************** that installed it in my home. It is not something that I ever should have worried about. But, they did not. How is that my doing? I should not be punished with half a warranty lifetime due to the negligence of the installer.I want ******* to honor the remaining 5 years that should be on my warranty. Cutting my warranty in half is absolutely unacceptable.
