I am writing to file a complaint against Morrisville Triangle Family Dentistry (TFD). TFD told me, and my daughter, that my daughter had 6 cavities to be filled. Oct 22, *** called to confirm and verify the payment. *** told me that our portion would be a little over $200. 4 teeth (left side) were covered 100% by insurance, 1 tooth (left side) had a copay of $26, and the (right side) was not covered and would be $176. I told *** to do the left side and I would pay the $26. And to schedule the right tooth for 2025. Oct 29 at 8am, TFD filled two teeth on the left side, and one tooth on the right side, without my or my daughters knowledge. When I went to pay the $26, they said I had a balance of $202. *** stated that they did not know why it was done, but I had to pay the full balance of $202. A *** *** confirmed me asking to have right tooth done in 2025, but that I had to pay the balance or be sent to collections. I asked to speak to the mgr, Ms. **** I explained everything to her, and she asked if I had any documentation stating that *** agreed to do the right tooth in 2025. I said no, that I did not realize I would need a transcript of conversations with TFD ***. I told her that the *** *** confirmed our earlier conversation of me stating that I wanted the right tooth done in 2025. When Ms. * asked her if this was true, she then changed her story. Ms. * decided to remove the $176 and gave me a receipt that showed a discount of $176, but still had a balance due of $176. I explained that I have no documentation that this conversation is taking place now, and wanted a receipt that showed the $176 was removed, and my final balance is zero. She finally printed a receipt that showed a zero balance due for patient. My complaint is the fraudulent practice of a business performing unauthorized work on patients without their knowledge, and then charging them for it. Even though they removed the $176, I should not have spent over 30 minutes arguing my rights.

The dentist at the **** location refused to fill two cavities unless I agreed to pay for and have an additional 3 fillings done that were "questionable". Refusing service when a patient needs help is not acceptable. A patient should be able to pay for and have the treatment they need and can afford at the time. Strong arm tactics to extort money from patients and insurance companies is not acceptable. Shame on them and any healthcare organization that resorts to these measures.

      **** *****
I have been visiting this office for the last 4 years. Over this time, I have received care by multiple dental hygienists and dentists. In my attempt to get a consistency in care after my last visit 6 months ago, I requested to see the same hygienist and Dr ****. After my most recent exam Dr **** referred me out to get a full periodontal exam due to a significant increase in probing depth of a singular tooth. I do have a history of periodontal disease but did not feel a single tooth rose to the level of a full periodontal exam. I tried to discuss this with my hygienists who said to me that she had concerns during my last visit 6 months ago, however, Dr **** who did not return to explain after exam was firm on his referral. I sought out a second opinion because this was a singular tooth in question. The office I visited provided me with a 3d scan with disappointing results. I am now in the process of setting an appointment with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to have an extraction as opposed to periodontal treatment as referred.

Hi ****, it seems there is still some lingering miscommunication following our phone call. Dr. **** referred you to the periodontist, for a full mouth examination, because there are multiple teeth of concern. It is Dr. ****’s hope, that along with the periodontists help, those teeth can be saved. We hope you will seek the opinion of the periodontist, prior to any additional care.
