The initial contact started about July 2024. After publishing a book and all kind of literary agencies swam me. This literary agency talked to me and I decided to trust the person. I paid $900.00 to help without any further cost. After contacting several weeks, the person decided to tell me I need a web site. The cost will near $6,000.00. I said no! I told her I know a person l was expensive than that. I gave her the number to call the person. She called and told me my group can't use them because the website is not professional for our group. I said no! I will not purchase the website. I stopped answering the phone when she calls. She added three amounts $1,600.00, $4,000.00 and $4.800.00 and asked the ********* to approve and they did. Now I am left to pay the ********* $10,400.00. I called the bank asking not to give the company the money. They proceeded and closed the case allowing me to pay this company $10,400.00 which I did not request. When they charged my bank account was January 13, 2025. They falsely signed my name to obtain the money. I will search my files for any additional information on this company. I come down to they took $10,400.00 from and gave NOTHING!!!!Thanks!Customer Answer

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. I am complaining about the way I was treated and took advantage of me and my credit card. As I said initially, after **** ******* said it would be $6,000.00 for me to get a web site. I said no at that point!! **** ******* did not recognize what I said. They went on and charged my credit card for $10,400.00. I have to pay that amount and they didn't give many anything for my money. After I saw they charged me the $10,400.00 and I said give me the services. They have not. I went to my credit card company and they said, I charged an item before and they would not reconsider. The item was either $700.00 or $900.00.
If you need additional comments, give me a call or email. Thanks!

I was promised to do a press release of my Book What's Behind the Looking Glass. Nothing happened, paid them in full. received a contract from ********************, but it was fraudulent, the contract was based on a fraud with a person known as **** *******. Contacted the company and the contract was not issued by them. ***** ****** was the one who provided the contract and was to put together the press release. When asked for proof of it being done, said wouldn't be a problem. I waited nearly two months, and no answer asked several times, but there was no answer Later I learned he no longer works for the company Thomasville Literary, and a person named *** ***** had taken the job, but nothing happened. Instead she asked for more money to purchase books for LA Book Fair. I told her I wanted proof regarding the press release. Again said not a problem. I waited and waited to send money to her to start printing books, but she wanted more money and more time, Again I waited, and no one contacted me with the proof I needed to ensure the press release was being done. nor were the books being printed. In fact, there was no order was placed. I was done. I asked for my money back. Still haven't heard back from her or anyone from the company, it's been nearly two weeks. I contacted the bank and submitted a fraud to get my money back. this company needs to be listed, on every website, and make sure no one does business with them. Today ***** ****** contacted me asking me how I was doing. How stupid do they think I am? Maybe they found out I wasn't going to send them any more money. and demand a refund as to why he is contacting me.. Good luck with that.Customer Answer

Hi,
Eric's claim of not receiving his money is not correct. It should be in his account last month.
He filed a chargeback case last March 11 and March 20 but we did not contest the case so the money will be returned to his account automatically.
March 11, 2025 - disputed $300.00
March 20, 2025 - disputed $400.00
March 20, 2025 - disputed $350.00
All these cases were not contested, meaning we did not challenge the dispute in order for the cardholder to automatically WIN the case and money will be refunded automatically to his account. We have no control over when his money will be available to his card and the only people who can answer that is his bank. We have done our part and nothing to do as of the moment.
Please refer to our bank statement for the month of March 2025.
Attached are the files to support our claim.
Thanks

The date was January 17, 2024.Leap Write Literary posed themselves as a company to aid authors like myself. They never responded when I asked for royalties or how the sales of my books were. Recently, when I tried to email them, it says the email address doesn't exists. In sort, I would like to either get the royalties I am owed, and or get a refund since they are phony and not a legit company.Customer Answer

Since May 3, I've been contacted 3 times by a woman named ********************* from Leap Write Literary Agency. I've asked her twice to stop contacting me. After the 3rd time, I called back to collect her info. When I asked her to spell her name and the name of the company, she was very impatient and non-compliant with my request. ***** refuses to take no for an answer so now I'm speaking out against Leap Write.Customer Answer

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.
I have asked that they cease communications with me and reconsider training their operators. The woman who called me was downright harassing me.

This company appears to be a scam. They contacted me, claiming to have an offer for my children's book "between $45,000 and $90,000." Then they insisted I do various things to make my book more attractive to publishers. If they already had an offer, they shouldn't have needed to promote it. Just close the deal and be happy. While I could have sued them for breach of contract (they had me sign one), it was just a lot easier to tell them to get lost.Customer Answer

June 14, 2023 received a cold call by literary agent ***********************. Wanted to republish my book Papa Pies with new illustrations. Also wanted to publish my new manuscript Hairy Scary ***** with illustrations. Both are childrens books. Dutring this time there was a death in my family and I was pressured by ****** that we had to hurry because childrens books were trending and we needed to beat the holiday rush. Of course there were 2 additional payments for the book illustrations. I supplied all the needed supporting documents. After doing some research I felt uneasy about the legitimacy of Brillant Books Literary. Many mistakes in emails and trying to be ****** buddy-like. I am not computer savvy so the contract was sighed by pushing a button. My real signature never appeared on any documents. I spoke with Barclays onJuly 11,2023 expressing concerns. They advised me to ask for a refund and provided a provisional credit to my account. The merchant, *********************** sent a copy of the contract and Barclays removed my credit and put the ****** back on my card. I checked with Thomasvilles ******************** and there is not company anywhere by their name in ***********. The police told me it would be unsafe to go there. During the time following this I was treated very unprofessionally and they said I had cut all ties with them. I explained that they indeed have been paid for publishing services. Money was sent by Barclays to their bank on Aug 22, 2023. Brillant Books Literary kept trying to get more money for authors insurance, podcasts and NYC billboards. I told them I had no more to spend. I asked to see a product from them- a timeline, illustration sample, blue line. They became very uncooperative and kept telling me to be patient, emailed me several times rudely stated, DONT YOU KNOW WHAT PATIENT MEANS? I asked to meet with them in *********** but they refused. I asked them to verify company address but they refused. Ceased all communication by Dec.Customer Answer

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.I have tried all available emails, phone numbers and they have been disconnected or constantly busy. I left a message for JW (book dev. manager) several times to please contact me and I did so again this am. No response. The office ***********,** number which I dialed this am was answered by Discover Books and said they were in **********. They only send out writers publishing packages and said they were not Brillant Books Literary??Checking the web I discovered a writer who 2 years ago was contacted by AB (literary Agent) representing ************ She used a different name AW. Then later Im not sure but I believe recently) this writer was contacted by AB representing ******** Press.Writer lost about $1,000 and has been unable to get anything; refund or product. This writer recognized ABs previous name but she denied it. He was chatting with Just Answer who has experts to help solve issues.
There is another web called Writers Beware and authors have shared info re BBL.
At this point I am unsure what to do. It seems this company keeps changing their names and company titles. I suggested to Barclays who paid BBL $13,850 August 22, 2023 by my Mastercard, would they please contact the companys receiving bank but they never followed through.Should I try again or try to ask the *********************** for more assistance?? If you need receipts or any information please dont hesitate to contact me. It appears this group is taking money from many people and then hiding to avoid publishing anything.
I want to express my most sincere gratitude to BBB for trying to help. I am still under a physicians watch and I know this loss of money has caused me severe pain.
