I had this company connect the gas line to my furnace. I was charged 100 dollars for "materials". It was a shut off valve and 2 ft of braided hose. Total cost at ****** about 20 bucks. When I called to complain I was told it was also for tape and "miscellaneous" since they don't keep records of materials used. Also both products look worn out. When I wouldn't let that excuse fly **** called me 6 hours later. Rudest f***** I've ever talked to. He has an excuse for everything. The products I looked at were made in ***** thus not comparable in price. He's a business owner so he needs to make a profit. I guess **** only uses solid gold shut off valves, titanium wrapped hose and platinum tape. When I didn't appreciate those two excuses he threatened to have a tech come to my house and remove the parts. I got so ****** at his tone and cutting me off to vomit out more excuses I told him to go f*** himself and hung up. I'm so disappointed in this company and the owner for the **** poor attitude and non existent customer service. Can't wait to see more of ****'s excuses since his replies to reviews are full of themBismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

This customer is by far the most entitled yet. Customer called all over town to have a gas line installed for a furnace his grandpa installed for him. Everyone in town told him NO they were not interested. I felt bad for the kid so I told him we would take care of it for him.
We showed up at the home and found multiple code violations that required fixing before the gas line could be installed.
A city permit was taken out on the furnace, our technician took care of all violations and tied in a gas shut-off valve and a 2 foot stainless flexible gas line to the existing black iron gas line. The customer was charged normal pricing for the gas line shut-off valve, the flexible gas line and misc. materials. (pipe dope, fittings)
As has become customary recently, customer allowed us to perform the service, charge him for the parts, service and permit... WAITED 3 DAYS... Then called screaming and swearing like a sailor! He was angry that he could go on the internet and find these parts cheaper than he was charged. (Umm... yeah)
He screamed at me and told me how even Menards was cheaper than us. He told me that he could go on Amazon and buy the parts for 1/2 of what we charged him. I told him I would be happy to send a tech out and remove all parts and refund all his money... I told him life was too short and no one needed customers that behaved this way..He then swore up a storm and hung up on me.
He then proceeded to text me, swearing up a storm, for the next hour until he was blocked.
Z A C H ***************** : Your grandfather should be so proud of the vulgar young man you've grown to be.
Public: If you keep posting these ridiculous reviews displaying your vulgarity, entitlement and complete lack of reality, what are you going to do in the middle of a blizzard when no one is willing to take your attitudes? Your parents (grandparents) should all have done far better. This is getting old.Review fromBill B

Had them come out 8/27/24 to look at my heat pump for it needed freon. This complaint is not about the technician *****, its about the owner of his 53 year in business company. The owner charges $90 per pound for 410a freon. Pricing online shows 410a USA made freon for $ 22 per pound. A homeowner cannot buy 401a freon. **** business can and this one marks 401a freon up 400%. My system needed 4-lbs. -- $360.00 in Freon -WOW !! Labor rate of $ 125/hour. Owner of company wants customers to do a ****** review so I did and told the story of over charging for Freon - response from owner was training expenses are high and his reason for over charging. Guess what happen to my honest ****** review owner quickly deleted it for he doesn't want the truth to be knownof ripping his customers off.I called another HVAC shop in Bismarck and there labor rate was $ 120/hr and 410a-freon $65/per pound. BOY did I get RIPPED OFF.They will also try to sell you a new system mine is 15 years old and still working fine.Imagine how much extra money this owner has made since owning company with ripping people off.If he marks freon up 400% he is also marking other parts up excessively too!!!BEWARE BEWARE !!!!!DONT do BUISNESS with BISMARCK HEATING and AIRBismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

We are pleased that the technician was able to pinpoint the issue with your heat pump. We are also pleased that he took the time to inspect your heat exchanger, and everything was found to be in good working order.Thank you for sharing your concerns about the pricing of the refrigerant. We appreciate your feedback. Please keep in mind... YOU (personally) cannot purchase refrigrant for $22.00 a pound. A licensed, EPA certified technician cannot either. Refrigerant, like everything on this planet, has increased in price numerous times over the past 3 years. In addition, our technicians have years of schooling, training, licensing, certifications and in field experience to be able to provide you with the services you require. This takes time and money and is a huge investment, not only for the technician, but also for the company employing that technician.Insurances, maintenance, tools, training, building expenses, pay, benefits, overhead, overhead, overhead.I appreciate your train of thought... Just please, keep in mind, while operating a business, the expenses never stop. If the markup did not appear on one item, it would certainly appear on another. The entire point to running a business is in fact, profit, of course.Keeping this all-in-mind... The new ****************** mandated refrigerant changes taking effect soon should really upset you. Very soon you will no longer be able to purchase 410a equipment. (air conditioners/heat pumps) The new "propane" based refrigerants, R454B & R32 will be taking over the industry. What this means is businesses will be forced to purchase new equipment for their technicians and installers for this new gas. This equates out to many, many thousands of dollars invested in new equipment, supplies and training. This gas is also flammable, so a flame/smoke detector will be installed in your a-coil for your protection. This will also increase the cost of a new heat pump/air conditioner by anywhere from 10%-35% in the next few months.Believe me... If you are nearing the end of your heat pump or air conditioner's life span: NOW is the time to replace! BEFORE the mandate takes effect, before the new equipment is being shipped, BEFORE the price increases begin. If you feel prices are too high today, within a few months you are really going to be in for an unpleasant shock.I sincerely thank you for your feedback and also for the opportunity/platform to set the record straight.Sincerely,Bismarck Heating & Air Conditioning Team ************Review fromKristi B

We hired them to come out and install a new furnace/AC in our second farm home in June 2023. When we started the furnace in December it was leaking. They wanted $300 to just come and look at the problem. It is under warranty and turns out it was installed incorrectly. We had to have Prairie Heating come and fix their mistake for half the price. They are horrible to work with, very rude on the phone and do not stand behind their work. Never again.Bismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

If only the real story were told Installed new furnace in June of 2023, customer used air ********************** entire cooling season. An air conditioner condensates and produces a large amount of water daily, this water is expelled down a condensate drain line which is connected to the side of the furnace. In the winter, your furnace also produces condensate which is expelled down this SAME drain. Sometime after June the customer either tripped over or kicked the drain line on the floor causing the drain line to become disconnected from the side of the furnace. (Quite common really) when this occurred, the condensate water then drooled down the side of the furnace and pooled on the floor.. if the line had never been connected, the basement would have been flooded from June to December . Instead, after the line got knocked loose, there was a small puddle found around furnace in late December, 6 months AFTER install. When the customer was told this was a billable call and was simply maintenance, he started screaming and swearing and was promptly hung up on. I then texted customer and told him if he could conduct himself like an adult, we would further the discussion, at which point he texted me numerous swear words and told us to f**k off.No one needs customers like this.Review fromDennis C

Well, I have to say you have won the award for the most childish review yet. Customer called screaming at my secretaries, hours after a $125 service call he noticed a coupon for $25 and wanted to know if he could get the $25 off even after the service call. My office manager explained to him, A coupon must be presented at time of service (which is clearly printed in the coupon) but that she would check with the owner, immediately he started screaming and swearing at her, and proceeded to then hang up I personally then called customer, when I introduced myself on the phone, customer began screaming, followed by multiple curse words and telling me how he did not need the $25. At this point I was 100% baffled, as he was the one who initiated the original phone call and insisted on the $25 which I was calling to tell him, would be no problem. He proceeded to tell me how crooked it was that we offer a coupon on ********* but do not tell the customer that we have a coupon. I then tried to explain to him that the incentive of the coupon on ******** is to get people to like our ******** page so that they can get regular coupons. Once again, followed up by screaming and swearing. I actually find the it numerous when a customer claims they got an earful, when we record every single phone call in and out of the building. If customer would like me to post the phone calls to ********* I would be happy to do so, but I assure you he does not want that. Once again, a customer calls, screaming, and swearing, leaves a one star review, and goes on with his day.We will do the same. I hope you have a better day today.Bismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

When reading this silliness, please keep a few things in mind...We have been in business ************************************** 4 categories SIX YEARS straight.Donate non-stop to aid the community.Won Best in Show 2021 **********************************.Win multiple awards yearly for our customer service and community efforts. You will RARELY see a (5) FIVE STAR review on the Better Business Bureau page... We service thousands of customers yearly and we do receive legitimate complaints, but those complaints are taken care of swiftly and professionally... But then you have nonsense like this. We we have a customer that screams, swears and abuses our staff, they are attempted to be dealt with, and when we are sure there is nothing more we can do for them, we move on. "Those"... Those are the customers that end up either HERE or ****** with their (1) ONE STAR reviews. We would love to live in a world where all human beings we come in contact with are reasonable and are able to be reasoned with, but that sadly is not a reality. This customer was given/offered EXACTLY what he was asking for, yet still insisted on screaming and swearing. I told customer that I was completely confused and asked him what more he wanted than the original $25.00 he was calling about... He then told me he didn't need the $25.00 and if I sent him a check he'd simply tear it up. What would you, as a normal human being have done at this point? Here is what I did: I had my office manager send the customer the $25.00 check. If he chooses to tear it up, that's on him. If he chooses to cash it, I'd hope he removes this silly review. This customer didn't want $25.00, he simply wanted a fight. He didn't get his fight, so that somehow made us the bad guy. To anyone still confused by this: We have a ******** page, www.********.com/bismarckheating this page stands as a landing point for free information to maintain your equipment, coupons and other offers... You must LIKE the ******** page in order to see these offers. (Marketing) This is a normal everyday occurrence and is done by MILLIONS of business' throughout the world. (This is the point at which we were called crooks) Of course we have ONE star reviews here... This is where the customers that could not be dealt with land.We have a 4.4 STAR rating on ****** out of 5 stars... That is incredible when seeing thousands of customers a year.Review fromA. B.

I called for emergency service on my furnace. They were there 20 minutes and it cost $550. 10 minutes after the technician left, my furnace started having the same problem. I called them back, and it cost another $550 for the technician to return. I called the office the next day to ask about being charged twice when the issue wasnt resolved correctly the first time. The lady I spoke to told me I should have watched the technician fix the furnace the first time so I could have fixed it myself the second time.Bismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

You were charged an OVERTIME call of $255.00 on 11/11/2022 for ice in your "EXHAUST", also, you did not have a filter in your furnace. The NEXT day, 11/12/2022 you were charged yet another OVERTIME CALL for your "INTAKE" pipe, (which was ice-free 24 hours earlier) which was now plugged with a chunk of ice, just as everyone in Bismarck/Mandan experienced this winter. At least if you are going to complain about mother-nature... Post the ****** Home ownership is not a ************* and everyone dealt with ICE DAMS and plugged pipes this winter. (No fault of ours, obviously.) Overtime calls are not cheap, standard time calls will save you considerable money. If I seem a bit peeved by your fictitious review, I am. The ******.. Facts matter. You were charged a total of $510 for (2) TWO OVERTIME service calls over a (2) TWO day period. (Weather related) Do you feel ok about this review?Intake, exhaust and sewer pipes clog with ice due to condensation in the winter, they are then required to be unclogged. This can happen over night, within 3 hours or you could be one of the lucky ones and go all winter without a problem. Thankfully, Bismarck **************************** answers their phone 24/7 365 days a year. During a blizzard, the middle of the night, ANY TIME... We will be there.52 years in business.6 years straight - Best of the Best in 4-5 categories. When you see that I am correct, please remove this review. We have zero control of the weather. Also, never in our 52 year history has a customer been told to watch our tech so they could fix it themselves next time... Why would you add such a comment when you are 100% aware it is NOT true? Please, do what's right here.A. B.

Well, it's pretty tough to respond to a review left by someone unwilling to leave their name. Classy.I can only assume you are one of those customers who felt they should get something for nothing. If we in fact charged nothing, we wouldn't be around very long, would we? Have a pleasant day and I can only hope the next company you deal with has better luck with you. Thanks for leaving the classy review... You obviously know you were wrong or you would have left your name. Degrade and belittle? I think you are a bit confused. (****)Review fromTim B

We called Bismarck Heating and Air when our furnace went out. A technician came out and found a cracked heat exchanger so we needed a new one. The technician told us Bismarck Heating and Air offered financing and someone would get a hold of us ASAP. *** called initially around 6-7 that evening and sped through his sales pitch. He scheduled us for installation and said he would call back the next day (Saturday) for the financing application. *** did not call until Sunday and by the time he called I found numerous other local companies who finance. When I told him I would like to shop around, *** began criticizing his competitors ("they sell that Chinese junk", "if you want to put that junk in your house you go ahead"). I found this unprofessional and told him as much. *** then launched into profanity and name-calling ("you're a f---ing idiot", "you f---ing re--rd"). Shocked and angry, I asked him if this is how he runs his business and if he talks to everyone who goes with another company this way ("f--k you" was his reply). This went back and forth for five minutes. Toward the end of the call I told ******** would be telling anyone who will listen about my experience with Bismarck Heating and Air and him specifically. He told me to go ahead because he didn't need my business, although he was upset that he'd scheduled an install crew for Monday (without having financing secured) and wasn't sure he could find work for them.I wish I would have seen the reviews on this page and Bismarck Heating and Air's responses before ever calling them in the first place.Bismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

Last night our furnace went out. We called Bismarck Heating and Air. We were told the service call was going to cost $255. And that we would have to pay that whether they were able to get here or not. ?? there were two trucks that came one had a plow on the front. They did plow the ?driveway. The technician came in and fixed the problem in about 15/20minutes?. He told us it had taken them an hour and a half to drive the 11 miles from BISMARCK to our house. However, our son had driven from BISMARCK to the seven seas in Mandan to pick up his son from work and it took him 30 minutes round-trip on the interstate. When he got ready to leave he charged us another $382. We felt that that was an excessive amount for pushing a restart button to repair our furnace, so I called them this morning and talked to ****. He was extremely rude and belligerent. I tried to explain our situation, but he wouldnt listen to anything. He yelled obscenities at me and told me never to call them again. According to their ******** page, they are an essential service, and that they would be out there helping everyone 24 hours?. All told this cost us $637.50.Bismarck Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc

Your husband was told the service was $255.00 per hour and that due to WHITE OUT conditions, it would take a minimum of ***** minutes to get to your home WEST of Mandan safely. Due to a power outage *****'s furnace went out on high limit... We attempted to walk her husband thru setting the reset button and he had NO INTEREST in doing it himself. We were in the middle of a blizzard. ***** is your typical example of entitlement and felt her call should be 20 minutes when it was explained the call was portal to portal and would run a minimum of 2-3 hours due to the driving conditions. We showed up with TWO (2) PLOW TRUCKS and plowed the final 3 miles to her home due to 3-4 foot pillow drifts in the roads. We also took 40 minutes and plowed her entire block and driveway. ***** is not the type of customer ANYONE wants and has been placed on our do not service list. $637.50 was charged to her card when her husband was quoted a $765.00 charge originally. You got yourself a bargain Olive. Thank you for the review.
