NelNet is a fraudulent operation somehow handling out student loans. They tie up our payments in limbo, do not explain amounts do, do not apply paid amounts (and then accuse you of late payments) and continue growing the loan amount despite paying (or attempting to pay) on time every month. The auto pay does not work. Submitting a payment holds money in limbo for weeks at a time. And there is no explaination for the amounts due. This is an absolute scam.Business Response

I have tried several times disputing this off my credit report they took money out of my taxes and still remain on my credit since 2018 . Dear Nelnet,
I am writing to dispute the late payments being reported on my credit report for account number ****************. I did not give Nelnet my written instruction to furnish my information, as outlined in 15 USC 1681b. By reporting this information without my written consent, Nelnet has violated my rights under 15 USC 1681b(a)(2).
I have operated in good faith and will continue to do so. I expect Nelnet to demonstrate the same courtesy. It is important to note that according to 15 USC 1681a(f), Nelnet qualifies as a consumer reporting agency as it regularly engages in assembling or evaluating consumer credit information for the purpose of furnishing consumer reports to third parties, such as **********, ********* and *******.
As such, my written instructions under 15 USC 1681b(a)(2) supersede any other permissible purpose. I am invoking my rights under this section and instructing Nelnet to delete its tradeline from my consumer report immediately.
Furthermore, under 15 USC 1681i(a)(1)(a), Nelnet is required to launch an investigation into my dispute and disclose the results of the investigation no later than 30 days from receipt of this complaint. Failure to comply with these instructions will be considered willful non-compliance under 15 U.S.C. § 1681n(a)(1)(A), entitling me to $1,000 per violation.
Here are my written instructions: Nelnet must update the month of March 2018, April 2018, May 2018, June 2018, July 2018. August 2018 and February 2019 , March 2019, and April 2019 for this tradeline to “paid as agreed” never late, effective immediately. Nelnet furnishing derogatory information is affecting my creditworthiness. I expect my instructions to be followed to the T without any further delay.
I expect Nelnet to take immediate action to correct this matter. Please acknowledge receipt of this dispute and provide a timeline for when I can expect the deletion of the tradeline and the results of the investigation.

I am rejecting this response because:Per their response letter to me they are saying that they do not have an account with me or contract on record. I definitely agree that Nelnet should not be on my credit report as I previously mentioned. I believe that this is an error and needs to be removed from my report as I previously requested. I even tried to get through to the business utilizing their customer service line as their letter requested and I cannot because they can’t locate any information related to me. Again, to help both parties at this point I am once again requesting that this is removed from my credit report. I am a business owner and hold multiple ******** ******* Business Cards and personal cards. This inaccurate information on my credit report is the only negative detail I have. I need it corrected in order to process with my affairs. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because they still cannot locate any relevant information regarding me. Thus, they should not have my name or account associated with any of this alleged default on student loans. I need to have thai corrected immediately and the responsibility should rest with the business that has inaccurate reporting. Then next step for me is further elevation with an attorney. This is negatively impacting my personal and business life and at this point is extremely stressful and is causing distress to me personally. The made an error on their end that needs to be corrected. I don’t have any documents connected to them which they are requesting because the account doesn’t exist with this vendor and needs to be removed from my credit report.

I was enrolled in the Physician Education Loan Repayment Program (PELRP) and completed the years of service to pay off my remaining student loan. The Texas Higher Education Board sent a check #********* to Nelnet in the amount of $94,765 to be split between myself and 2 other recipients with my allocation $33,113 (see attachment 1/5). This check was cashed by Nelnet on 11/8/2023 per Texas Higher Education Board. I continued to pay on Nelnet with $600 of additional payments with current balance of $32,320.59. 1/9/2024 - I called Nelnet and inquired about payment that should have been posted. Investigating this issue and put student loan in forbearance. 1/18/2024 - I called Nelnet and were able to locate the check that was received and cashed 11/8/2023. I was informed this may take 30 days to post to my account. 2/22/2024 - I called Nelnet and stated they would escalate to leadership team and to check back within 3 days. 2/26/2024 - I called Nelnet and stated it would take longer to post to my account and will escalate to leadership team. 2/28/2024 - I filed a complaint with Nelnet regarding this issue and received response stating my loans are moving to ***** ********* (see attachment 2/5). 2/29/2024 - I called Nelnet and told to call back in 2-3 days. 3/1/2024 - My loan transferred from Nelnet to ***** ********* per Nelnet changes. 3/6/2024 - I called ***** ********* customer service and was told to submit a copy of the check to Submit my forms (see attachment 3/5). I was told this was sent to the leadership group for escalation as I am trying to buy a home. 3/11/2024 - I called ***** ********* and do not see my Submit my form showing proof of the check from the Texas Higher Education Board. I requested to speak to supervisor that did not occur. Please help bring my account up to date with payment issued by Tx Higher Ed Board on 11/2023. Nelnet student loan services practices are unlawful, since the company has taken over the business there are multiple issues students are facing such as no correspondence and the inability to access your own account. I've been having issues accessing this account since Nelnet has taken over. You're kept completely in the dark as if somehow you have psychic powers to know what's happening. I just recently graduated school in December, and yet today March 11,2024 I Have a massive outstanding balance I was totally unaware of which dates back to 5 months although 3 months ago. I received no mail or letter, as they allow these past due charges to hit my credit report without my knowledge. This place is corrupt and unethical. This is why people cannot make it on this miserable world from snake companies that prey on people who don't have a lot of money. This is a federal banking system meaning one of the most corrupt systems to date. A physical check was sent to Nelnet with specific allocation directions in the "Special Payment Instructions Box" on the physical Statement I included in the envelope. Nelnet was negligent in reading these instructions, and the check was allocated to the wrong loan. I noticed two days after allocation and called for this to be updated immediately. I was told a "ticket" had been made but was not given/allowed to have a ticket number, nor was the request able to be expedited, even though this was an oversight on their end. I have a loan with NELNET. I was part of the ***** ** ******* ****** as well as my loans for ********** ** ******* was on a list of school to be forgiven due to fraudulent educational practices. NELNET has received three payments on my behalf ********** ********* ********. None of these have been reflected to the balance of the loan. I have made several calls in December to get it rectified to which I was told they were working on it. it has been two months and nothing has been done.
