8 months after paying my bill in full, they contacted me saying that I owe more. Services were completed 8 months ago with no balance due. They will not call me back or provide my with any information other than “we recalculated your bill and it says you owe more.” Again, this is 8 months after the bill was completely paid off.

Today’s Dental in Elkhorn have excellent dentist, like Courtney Molettiere, DDS, who is the best, being friendly and cordial. Likewise, Julie, the hygienist, is very good and friendly. However, in my opinion, there has been some major changes in the last few months in the office staff. Prior they were quite friendly and helpful, but that has drastically change for the worse. They have become disrespectful, very snappish, not helpful, and do not seem to know what is going on. For instance, on January 23rd, the “checkout clerk” charged me what she called was a “co-pay” of $50, even though I emphatically said that my ****** Advantage plan paid everything. Then they lied and said the insurance company required Today’s Dental to collect the $50 (****** says they do not). Today’s Dental said their system had recently been updated. After checking with ******, ****** does not require $50 payment at time of service, so Today’s Dental instigated this advance payment unilaterally. This strongly implies that a patient should not pay any estimate provided by Today’s Dental at time of service, but wait till after the insurance is paid, then pay any amount that still may be due.
When the statement was received by me from ******, it showed that Today’s Dental was paid and there was no co-pay. (There was no co-pay collected when my wife had a cleaning previously in January.) When the statement from ****** showed that payment had been made to Today’s Dental was brought to their attention, they said that the insurance payments have not been received, so they could not refund my $50 paid previously until the insurance payment is received. Then they accused me of not understanding and used phases like EOB, without explanation. Today’s Dental is profiting on the float from the time the patient paid Today’s Dental to the time the patient was reimbursed, so they delay reimbursing the patient as long as they can. I live on a fixed income, so I do not have extra cash.

We refunded Mr. *****'s account the same afternoon that he called, came into the office and created an upset in our front office, and I called him to explain.  We have subsequently dismissed the patient from our practice for the upsets he has continued to cause.

      Mr. *****,

As we attempted to explain the day of your call and your upsetting visit to the office. . . We follow the information given to us by the policy documents.  That is why we collected the $50 deductible.  Once we had the EOB, explanation of benefits, that you received before we did, your account was refunded immediately.  It happened within hours of your call and your visit to the office. This is a closed matter and you have been asked to seek care elsewhere due to your confrontational nature.
