This is the worst company to have life insurance with, last year in August I put my grandmother in a $10,000 dollars policy for $94.00 dollars a month and it had to be reinstated once due to a monthly missed payment. So make a long story short my grandmother passed away yesterday at the age of 80 and they told me since she didn't live two years on the policy that they can only mail me the amount that I paid since she was on the policy, not the $10,000 they promised, now I have to come up with the rest of the money to get my grandmother put away right, so please do use this insurance company for life.

Terrible policy I would never recommend to anyone, as a working class individual you invest in a there policy that takes away and gives you little to nothing in return. Feels like a Ponzi scheme for someone with little to no knowledge of life insurance. I would highly recommend staying away from this company if you plan on getting Life Insurance.

With their paperless claims process and a verification call we knew the amount we'd receive, the check was being sent out, and received the check within 10 days. Enabling us to proceed with putting our loved one to rest . Chris was a pleasure to work with. I maybe switching my policies definitely have to do some reviewing. Will your policy work like Mutual of Omaha? Ask your insuer what their claims process involves because you're loved ones will need to know.

I spoke to an agent from Select Quotes about aquring a life insurance policy. He found a policy that would work for me at Mutual of Omaha. My policy was to go into effect on March 4th,2025 when my first premium payment was made.
My policy was to be mailed to me, I never received it. I received a message from USPS carrier for a package. I contacted the USPS and the package was not found, The USPS agent said it was returned. There should be a record it was NEVER delivered to me. In the meantime I spoke to my Select Quotes agent and he found a better policy to work for me with day 1 coverage. So I had my Mutual of Omaha policy cancelled that day, April 3rd,2025.
Mutual of Omaha still took out my premium payment on April 4th,2025.
I called Mutual of Omaha to get my payments refunded to me. The agent was very dismissive, he said it went over the deadline to get a refund. He wasn't helpful and obviously did not care. I told him I would call back.
So I then called my Select Quote agent. He said I had 30 days to cancel after I had my policy in hand. I never it received it in hand. And also my premium was paid on March 4th,2025 and my account became active. He said I was under the 30 day period. He told me to call Mutual of Omaha back.
So I did. This agent said it was over the time limit. I explained that It started on March 4th,2025 and I cancelled on April 3rd, 2025. It was exactly 30 days!!!! I should receive my premiums refunded.
She said she had no record of that. She was rude and practically called me a liar.
I did't think Mutual of Omaha was a business who would think it is ok to conduct business this way. A big company who doesn't care and will not issue a refund just because they can get away with it. Every Mutual of Omaha customer representative I have spoken to has given me a run around.
I sincerely hope I will get my money returned.

The customer service person was polite while doing her job but the huge rate increase after not paying hardly anything on claims throughout the year is unacceptable! Will definitely need to find other coverage!

Subject: Unfair Denial of Disability Benefits by Mutual of Omaha
I am filing a complaint against Mutual of Omaha for unfairly denying my long-term disability policy by selectively using medical records, misrepresenting key facts, and failing to conduct a fair and impartial review.
My appeal covered February 2024 – July 2024, a five month period when my doctor cleared me to return to work. My attorney submitted a detailed appeal with medical statements, physician recommendations, and supporting exhibits.
Mutual of Omaha denied my appeal, claiming I could perform my job’s material duties. They requested additional medical records but later dismissed their relevance, contradicting their own request.
To directly address their concerns, my orthopedist provided a medical letter explaining that my MRI findings and symptoms made prolonged sitting impossible. Despite this, Mutual of Omaha upheld the denial without submitting this critical medical evidence for independent review company they used for reviews.
Additionally, they cited a phone call with my other physician, claiming he said I “could likely shift positions when sitting.” However, when I met with my doctor afterward, he explicitly denied making this statement. The third-party review firm hired by Mutual of Omaha falsely attributed statements to my doctor, which is a clear breach of ethical and legal standards.
My concerns regarding Mutual of Omaha’s handling of my appeal:
Selective use of medical records while ignoring key evidence.
Failure to submit critical documents for independent review.
      Misrepresentation of physician statements.
Lack of transparency and fairness in the appeal process.
Mutual of Omaha’s handling of my claim raises serious ethical concerns. I strongly urge businesses seeking short- or long-term disability policies to consider a more reputable and trustworthy insurance provider.
