I paid the owner of this company in full (my bad) to remodel my basement.
He is not finishing the job he has constantly left my basement in a disaster that I had to clean up. I had to redo most of the paint job. He has garbage sitting outside that I have asked him for three weeks now to remove. He has not responded.
He still has work to do but I’m guessing he won’t finish since he has not responded to any requests.
I’m sure this will go to court to get my money back since a few things he’s done will have to be redone.
    Terrible experience with this company.

I have hired a reputable contractor to finish the job that I paid Blue birdie to do.
After that is completed in the next few weeks I will see what the additional charges are and take them to small claims court since it’s only $2500-$3000 dollars that will be owed to me.

On December 7, 2024, we contracted a company to undertake the construction of a full bathroom in our basement, with the understanding that we would receive a complete and functional space finished with standard materials and workmanship.

However, we have encountered numerous and significant issues throughout the progression of this project. Firstly, the walls intended for the bathroom have been installed poorly. Many of them are either loose, which raises concerns about overall stability, or they are not plumb or level, which leads to an unprofessional appearance and raises questions about the durability of the structure. Furthermore, we have discovered several holes drilled into some of the walls, which not only reflects a lack of attention to detail but also compromises the structural integrity of the lumber used. These openings pose potential safety risks to our family, as they could lead to issues such as water damage or pest infiltration.

My wife, **** ******, and I have persistently communicated our concerns about these craftsmanship and plumbing issues, emphasizing the safety implications involved. Despite our repeated requests for resolution, the company has failed to address our dilemmas satisfactorily. Instead of rectifying these problems, they have taken the approach of covering them up with drywall, leaving us with unresolved issues that continue to be a source of stress and concern. Our attempts to seek clarification and prompt action have been met with little more than indifference, further exacerbating our disappointment with their service.

This project was a bathroom added to the basement, which included underground plumbing for a brand new shower, new plumbing to a vanity new electrical.

new underground plumbing is complete, walls are up, shower pan is in place. Pocket door framing is in place. Total payments to date are in the amount of approximately 10,000. Which matches the cost of the work completed.

****** messaged us about two weeks before the day we split. Saying that he could no longer afford to finish the bathroom. Originally, the intent of this project was to not only add value to his home but to become a short term rental.

in an effort to salvage and finish the project, I offered three options,

    1. we complete the project where bluebird would pay to finish the project. Then…

    A. We would be paid out of the proceeds of the short term rental in an amount not to exceed 500/mo until the balance was paid at zero interest

    B. We would finish the project and the value of a new appraisal of the homes increase in value could be taken out of the homes value in the form of a heloc loan.

    C. He could take a title loan of any of his current holdings including a modified Jeep gladiator or the other modified jeep rubicon.

this situation ultimately turned south as ****** was expecting a lump sum from an inheritance to help pay for the project. The executor of this inheritance is not giving ****** the money he is asking for.

i Think this has financially strained ******, he is now trying to ask for us to return money for work already completed in order to maintain his lifestyle.

he attempted to hold our tools and denied entry while demanding repayment despite our attempts to help him at minimum finish the project, even if that meant bluebird extended him our own financial resources to do so.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The only accurate statement in the business's response is that we did hire him to add to the basement, which included installing underground plumbing for a brand-new shower, new plumbing for a vanity, and new electrical work. We communicated with **** that we could not pay him immediately, but eventually agreed to terms for completing the payment, as mentioned in the business's response.

However, we did not hire **** to leave his employees unattended at our property. This negligence resulted in damage to our personal belongings and put my family's safety at risk. For example, a saw was left plugged into the wall, creating a danger to my pets. When I texted **** about this issue, he said he was too busy with other projects to handle it right away and promised to address it on Monday, but he never showed up.

I have reached out to **** about several issues, only to find the work covered up in drywall upon returning home:

    - The walls are neither plumb nor level.
    - The shower drain is not properly aligned in the floor.
    - The walls are not adequately secured.
    - The repoured concrete is not level and needs eight buckets of self-leveling compound to correct it.

Additionally, the installed plumbing does not meet Omaha, Nebraska, code requirements. One of the pipes is leaking, and the plumbing connections were neither secured nor glued properly. Moreover, the shower line behind the drywall, which was installed by ****'s employee, has a crack at the connecting point, posing a significant risk of water damage once the shower is turned on.

Furthermore, the electrical work was improperly pushed into the ceiling, creating a fire hazard that could endanger our home.

Ultimately, we fired **** because the work was not being done properly and did not meet code. He was not on-site to supervise; instead, he left an untrained worker to do the job. Additionally, **** was working on our property with an expired contractor's license from the city of Omaha, Nebraska. It is the contractor's responsibility to pull permits, but **** chose not to do so and proceeded with installs that he knew were incorrect.
We are asking for a refund because everything has to be removed and redone correctly. **** is not willing to accept this and just wants to focus on financial matters instead of taking responsibility for his work and his employees' actions.

    Sincerely,

    ****** ******
