    In November 2023, we reserved a room at the Best Western Landmark Inn in *******, ** for 2 nights as part of a block of rooms for a wedding in July 2024. Because this area is a tourist destination, we deliberately wanted to have the reservation confirmed well in advance. We received a confirmation for the 2-night stay from the Best Western for a complete total of $336.81. In April 2024, we received a notification from the hotel's general manager that the hotel had a computer error and we would be charged $299 per night for our stay, so a total of $598 (without taxes and fees). This impacted several families associated with the wedding who, like us, booked early to secure a hotel space to meet the specific needs for our families, budgets, and distance to/from the wedding events. The general manager informed us we had 72 hours to reconfirm our hotel reservations given this 'technical issue that caused some guests to view inaccurate rates online.' If we failed to respond within this timeframe, the hotel would cancel the reservation. We opted to find another hotel in the area because this simply felt like poor customer service taking advantage of tourists unfamiliar with the area who were left with three months to consider alternatives. An unfortunate 'inaccurate online rate' that resulted in a $261 (which would be closer to $300 with taxes, fees) price differential with a captive rental audience was unfortnuate and felt dishonest. But like hotels that beleive they can do as they please when it comes to serving their customers in good faith, we too, as customers, have the option to make other choices. We travel regularly. We will never stay at a Best Western.
