      On first meeting they assured me they did great work and were just getting a new business started but he had been in the trade since he was a teenager. They made big promises up front and came in under any previous estimates from other companies. They asked for 80% up front to assure me the purchase of materials and pretty much demanded the deposit be made that week or they could not guarantee me that they could get to my job this year.
      The week work was scheduled they had an "emergency" and couldn't get to my house until the following week.
      When they did come and start they seemed professional and even noticed that they needed to do more work than was originally discussed and we talked about that. They worked 3 days. On the last day they caused a small disaster in my basement. And after cleanup he assured they would be back to fix the problem and finish the work.
      I have not heard anything since. Although unknown if it's the truth the wife/owner of the business stated her and her husband had a falling out and he removed her from everything. But it has also been noted that they opened another business in there names in August of 2022. We also gave them $795 on top of the 80%.
      As of right now we consider ourselves to be out $4-5k. I am a father of 4 and we are on a single income. I took out a personal loan to have this work done to my home. Not only does this inconvenience me it takes that money away from me raising my family. I live paycheck to paycheck and will live with my mistake of hiring them for the next 5 years.

      CONTRACT: removal of tub, strip the tile and wallboard, install a new subfloor, repair damaged beams under the shower area, install waterproofing roll-on membrane on the walls and a waterproof membrane on the subfloor, tile the floor and sidewalls, new plumbing, shower head and anti-scald control and install glass doors. Job to start within two weeks of signing the contract and to be finished within 2 weeks. No show and no communication, even with many phone calls and emails from us until June,

      In April 2022 they gave us a quote for $18,750 for deck remodeling projects.
      We gave them $14,760 upfront in the form of a check. We signed a contract.
      Since then, they started the deck project framing but on August 3rd after not hearing from them for over a week, they told me the company was shut down.
      Now I no longer have any useable decks and need to not only pay to have them finished but the building inspector said the framing is unsafe and needs to be redone as well. Costing us even more money.
      We would like our full deposit in the amount of $14,760 back. We are paying interest monthly on the loan we got to pay them AND we are now finding a way to pay even more to have someone reliable finish the job.
      We have filed with the state attorney but we need this money back ASAP so we are looking for help anyway we can get it.

      I contacted NEC Construction through Anji's list on 4/25/22, to inquire about a construction project in my home.
      Chris and Caitlin V***** came to my home the next day on 4/26. We discussed replacing a 70-1/2"x 57-1/2" bay window, 14-1/2" X 26-1/2" bathroom window and an exterior back door. I signed a contract for $4000.00 that day which I was required to pay 80% deposit which was $3,200.00. The work was to start on 5/23 and end 5/25. The complaint is shoddy workmanship, wrong windows, numerous no calls, no shows, many excuses (covid, flu, in the hospital, a death, etc). Started work 6/15 and took out the old bay window, built the wooden frame, boarded it up and left. It's still that way. They got the wrong windows, installed 2 windows one of which is a basement window. It was going to take 8 weeks to get new windows (late August delivery). Bathroom window installed almost goes into my roof soffit. They came with the wrong solid wood exterior door was supposed to be a steel insulated door with a 9 panel widow. They cut the bottom of the door and now has sharp metal edges on the bottom where it was cut. When I contacted Chris to tell him I was unhappy we got into an argument. He turned it around and tried to blame me he said he had to order new windows and he wasn't going to work when he wasn't feeling well. I tried working this out many times only to be met with arguments. On 7/27 I texted Chris and terminated my contract with him. I am requesting a refund of $2000.00 so I can pay someone else to fix his work. I have not heard anything. I am requesting your help in resolving this complaint.

      On April 26th, 2022, an agreement was signed for NEC Construction (Chris and Caitlin V*****) to complete the following at 51 Keenan Drive, Peterborough, NH. The list below is copied directly from the agreement.
      Removal of any debris in yard
      Includes dumpster to Hall debris from yard away garage and clean up. Replace fix and install leftover siding on house. Install gable end vents

      A deposit of $5000.00 was provided by check (# 1700) per the agreement by **** ****, owner of ** ****** *** on April 28th, 2022.

      As of 7/12/22, no one from NEC Construction has arrived on premises to start any of the work agreed upon. On 7/13/22 I spoke with Chris V***** who told me two workers were on their way. When asked if the dumpster listed on the estimate and that was paid for was ordered yet, he told me he was not ordering the agreed upon dumpster and would be hauling it himself.
      Two workers arrived with a 10’ collapsible ladder. Not tall enough to reach the gable ends of the house they needed to. They also had no pry bars to remove siding. They worked from 10:30AM to 1:30PM. I spoke with Chris again on 7/15/22 as no one had returned to work on the site. He stated he could not send workers out because he was at the Dr’s with his wife. I requested a schedule be provided by NEC Construction showing when we can expect workers to be on site. Monday morning, I received an email from Caitlin stating they would be there Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (depending on weather and ladders) and Friday. They arrived Tuesday the 19th at 10AM, dropped off ladders and left, returning at 1PM. They left at approximately 4PM. No one appeared Wednesday. No one appeared Thursday. On Friday they arrived at 10:30 and left at 12:30. No one showed on site on 7/26/22. On 7/27/22 two workers arrived at 10:30am and left at 3pm. At that point, I emailed them about all of this with no answer.
      We have discovered we are not the only ones they have conned out of literal Thousands of dollars.

      On May 2, 2022, I paid a down-payment to NEC Construction 603 LLC. They agreed to start on June 27. They did not show. I had to text them to get an explanation. I was told that the contractor had experienced convulsions and was in the hospital. I asked to be updated. The next day I had to ask again, and was told he had Covid and the crew would have to quarantine. On July 8, and then again the the 11th, I asked for a new date. I was told July 19th the work would start. Again, no one showed up, and I did not get a reply to my text until that evening, when I was told that the crew had had an accident and couldn't start.

      They are not responding to texts or answering their phone, whose mailbox is full.

      I am filing a complaint against NEC Construction 603, LLC, a business owned by Chris J. V***** and co-managed by Caitlin V*****. As of May 14th, 2022, the business was located at 17 Firehouse Rd, Walpole, NH, but was registered and insured at 236 Athol Rd, Winchester, NH on January 10th, 2022. NEC Construction 603, LLC can also be reached at PO Box 107, Winchester, NH 03470.
