One of the recruiters who work in this company has reached out to me about a potential job opportunity that matches my experience. After exchanging a few emails she agreed to submit my profile to their client and in order to do that she wants my confidential/sensitive information which is my passport number, DOB, ****, and travel record. Since I am actively looking for jobs I gave this information. Even after taking this information, she didn't submit my profile by giving a vague reason which raises concerns about data privacy.
These are the malpractice violations associated with their recruiting processes:
Data Privacy and Security: Sharing passport copies exposes you to identity theft risks. Passport details are highly sensitive, and vendors typically do not need this level of personal information just to submit a resume. It's generally unnecessary unless there’s an official hiring process with background checks, which usually happens after an offer is extended.

Legal and Compliance Issues: In some jurisdictions, requesting passport information before employment or contractual agreements can violate data protection laws (like GDPR in Europe or CCPA in California) because there’s no justified business purpose for processing such sensitive information.

Professional Standards: Most reputable companies and staffing agencies do not ask for passport details upfront. This information is usually requested much later, specifically for verification during onboarding after a job offer is confirmed.

I would like to proceed with filing an official complaint with the Federal EEO agency, FTC for fraud, and any local government complaints to report their tactics.

I was accidentally placed on their mailing list a couple of years ago, and since then they constantly spam my work email with job information. I reply to each email asking them to remove me from their list, and yet, they never do.

Each agent's email signature contains this line:
"We respect your online privacy. If you would like to be removed from our mailing list please reply with "Remove" in the subject and we will comply immediately. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."

I have done this step repeatedly, and yet, am never removed from their mailing list.
