On 5/5/24 I was parked at an Autozone parking lot in **********, **. JMV Parking Boot Service had an employee in an unmarked car who booted my car. The fine was $400 and the only payment method accepted was cash, The employee had no license showing that he was able to boot cars. His company had recently obtained a license to do so, but he himself did not have the legally required certificate. The booting was predatory in that there were additional charges listed if a certain amount of time passed (discouraging victims from seeking help from law enforcement or arguing their case with the company). Additionally, if the cash was not available to pay JMV Booting, they would have the car towed for $680. To my understanding, the towing would be from a separate company. JMV Booting operates as a booting company due to a predatory towing law which addressed towing companies but not booting companies.

This business seems to be operating in a predatory manner. I parked my car. Went next door to the bank to take money out for the laundromat where I was parked. Upon my return, a boot was on my car. I was told to pay ****** cash ;although the boot was ******. I was also charged a 50 dollar administration fee. I only paid 305, because that's what it totalled. I observed other vehicles getting booted as well. This company is a scam. Someone had to be sitting in the parking lot looking to see where people were going. All they had to do was ask a simple question Are you planning on going into the laundromat?: I called and spoke to someone from JMV Boot Service. He said there was nothing that could be done. I had to pay or get towed. The sign was not clearly visible. It looked like the laundromat sign. It was not at the front entrance of the parking lot. I mention the sign, because that's what i was shown after the boot. Why would a person need to look for a tow sign at a laundromat? This business appears to be a scam with exaggerated fees. This business needs to be investigated.

On August 24th 2023 my fiance was on lunch and went to wash some clothes I asked him to do near his job at **************** on ***************************************************. He parked the car and went to take money out next door to be able to wash clothes. A man was looking into our car and had put a boot on it. He told my boyfriend to cash app him $300 and he would take the boot off. He works for JMV parking boot service whom has a contract with the owner of ****************. Theres so many reviews on people who were scammed from this company. Complains have been filed from other people in regard to this exact situation Im am in. Im going to fight this til the end and have this company shut down because its unlawful what they are doing. I am furious, we just had a baby and its our only reliable car. Now I have to file a complaint as well and take this to court.

This company booted and towed my car after I had permission to park in the lot. My car was there as I was helping a friend get parts for her car at autozone. The car was still on the tow truck when i went to claim it. The tower demanded cash or else I would not get my car back. They charge me $400 for booting my car and another $350 to tow it. They told me they had a city contract where the ************** has a price list that cannot be changed. I called the police department and this is false. There was no explanation as to why they towed my car except to observe the sign which I didn't violate. These people are targeting cars and extorting people's cash.I called the cell phone number and the guy I clearly spoke to on the day it was towed picked up and said I had the wrong number.

      Business Response

The person in the complaint did not have permission from the property managers her idea of permission is from another property owner from which is the location she went to and that property owner told her she can park in the autozone when autozone  contacted our company to inform us that there was vehicles in the lot and no one in the store at the time so In response to these claims she was allowed to park is false she did not have the permission from anyone at autozone and note she tried to use her position as a city worker to intimidate our workers in order for her to get the car back for next to nothing which is an abuse of a position of authority or has the ability to have someone in her position cause an authority intimidate our company cause she was wrong in listening to another property owner give her false permission to park on someone elses property without any permission from which property she parked and was booted at so therefore she is not entitled to any refund under 39:4-56.6 which states you can not leave your vehicle unattended for any amount of time on someones personal and private property without there written or oral consent so she committed this violation and is again trying to get out of this situation by providing false statements and she also stated genes our receipt which clearly states that (will not Persue this matter) in the signature box which the customer acknowledges she is wrong when signing but still insist she is in the right when she is clearly in the wrong we also plan to seek action with city hall to inform them she tried to use her position as a city worker to try to get off without paying for the services rendered in this matter.
