    Avoid at all costs! I'm a construction industry professional living in the **, but my elderly parents live in **********. They recently contracted A1 Gutters and Roofing to replace their old, cracked front stoop. Immediately after demolishing the existing stoop and leaving them with no access to their front door, someone from A1 showed up with a new contract telling my parents that the price had increased and they needed to pay more to bring the job up to "code". He then asked my parents for an extra $34k (on top of the original $6k contract). Thankfully, my parents said no to this, but were bullied into a contract for an extra $11k for foundations. Having reviewed the additional work, I am not convinced it was necessary at all, but even giving them the benefit of the doubt that this additional work is a local code requirement, the additional [less than a day] labour, materials, and profit margin should not have cost more than $3k at a push. Absolutely shameful. This company saw an elderly couple and decided to take them for a ride. Please don't give them your business.
