The BBB was notified
that a consumer received an envelope with a check for over $4900. She was to
purchase an item for $2,500 and send the rest to a designated agent. The name of the company was used in the
scam. The BBB and the FTC warn consumers
never to cash a check that came from a source you do not know and did not
expect. The bottom line is that until
the bank confirms that the funds from the check have been deposited into your
account, you are responsible for any funds you withdraw against that check.If you think you’ve been
targeted by a counterfeit check scam, report it to the following agencies:
