I was parked in **** parking lot and me and my daughter went into **** to have a meal an when I came out I had two boots on my car and I went back into **** to get my receipt to confront the man in a all black truck with tinted windows who booted my car and he removed the boot I am beyond upset and I called the company an the man I spoke to made me even more mad he never apologized or even said we made a mistake but yet gave me a lie of a story he stated a man was by my vehicle and had my door open and then walked across the street to the hospital which is a lie because I called **** and they played the cameras back and stated no man exit my car and walked across the street. Be careful people they have criminal people working for them to make it appear as if someone is walking from your car and walking across the street so they make money iam not letting this go an will be placing a report against this company.

Dear ******* I have read your complaint and sometimes mistakes are made. There was another car by you that should have been booted, it was purely a mistake. This is not a scam but private property, in which some take advantage and take up private parking spaces to attend to their personal business off the property and evade parking fees, when they should be paying to park and utilize the pay to park spaces off the private property. I see the mistake was made and you were placed in a serious situation, please accept our apology for any inconvenience. Also let us know who let you view the video surveillance at the ***** because we would like to see who was by your vehicle or the one next to yours because there has been a rash of vehicle break ins, we can contact the Police and let them view the video of when you were there. please let me know date and time as well. Contact Vinny at ************. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Today I was subjected to extortion by Safeway Parking Enforcement LLC. This morning I left my car in their parking lot, went into ***** and ordered a takeaway coffee. Then I stood by the car and started drinking coffee. As a person who was in this place for the first time, I was interested in the surroundings and decided to walk down the street. When I crossed the street and saw that this was the emergency department of the hospital, I also returned, everything took no more than 2 or 3 minutes. when I returned, the employee who was there said that I had to pay $200 because I parked in a private parking lot, and that I had to pay in cash. I said I didn't have any money, and he told me I could go to the bank and withdraw the money. In short, this company is engaged in opportunism, they extort money from people, they turn the law into a business opportunity. The absolute lie is that it is possible to pay with a card. Cash only and as soon as possible. I engaged ***** employees in a dialogue, since I was still with a cup of hot coffee, since I didn't go anywhere, but just walked to the other side of the road. This is a betrayal!

Good morning I received your complaint and totally disagree with your statement, you parked on private property and went to the hospital, all signs are posted, then continued to harass the technicians when they responded to address parking issues. You also were advised by the Police who were called on you to leave the area due to your continual harassment and interference you are lucky the technicians did not have you arrested. you are making false accusations here. We are a licensed, insured, reputable business also registered and licensed by the City of Newark. we accept credit cards and cash! Please do not make these false claims when you are guilty of evading parking fees at Hospital to tend to your personal business you caused this and any inconvenience is all your doing.

    Thank you!

Today I was extorted by the company Safeway Parking Enforcement LLC. This morning I left my car in their parking lot, as I didn't find any space available and I went to the doctor.I saw the sign with big letters saying customers only but I couldn't read the small letters about the booting. This is the first point that demonstrates that they act in bad faith. They try to hide what they are really going to do and how they are going to take our money. The second point is that the employee was there when I left my car, saw me leaving and shortly after he booted my car. He could have warned me, but he chose to let me leave, booting my car and then take my money. This is the second time they have demonstrated that they are acting in bad faith. He waited for me to come out to booting my car. Then when I returned, the employee, who was there, said that I should pay $200 because I parked in a private parking lot and that I should pay in cash. I said I didn't have any money and he told me I could go to the *** and withdraw the money. I felt intimidated and embarrassed. This was the third time they acted in bad faith. In short, this company is opportunistic, they extort people, intimidate and embarrass them. I'm going to look for my lawyers because today I felt stolen and invaded by this company. They turn the law into a business opportunity.

Good morning Complainant parked on private property and states in his/her complaint that they see the sign no parking, Private property, customers only.  Again!  this is private property, and the sign is 4 Foot by 4 Foot in plain sight in every entrance and exit and on the walls of the stores. there is no small lettering on it, please be truthful here you stated you parked on private property, went to your doctor, saw the signs and parked on private property anyway. I believe you could of parked in the pay to park parking lot but chose to park on private property to evade the parking fee, This property is comprised of 3 retail business not your doctor's ******* Now you continue to make false accusations then you were extorted, and the parking technician saw you park and could of warned you. You saw the sign that was warning enough now, wasn't it?  If in fact a parking technician was on site, he could have warned you and would have. Please do not make false allegations and talk bad about our business we are a reputable business registered in the ************** and the *******************. I will now complete my reply. in closing I apologize for any inconvenience, but this was cause by you not Safeway Parking, if in any way you were mistreated by us I apologize but we are a professional outfit and treat all with respect.

April 27, 2023 my husband had a consultation with anesthesia at ******************** Having just found out a week prior that he would need this surgery, scheduled for May 5, to obtain clearance for open heart surgery May 22, we scrambled to find a facility that could accommodate us and not push open heart surgery as it has already been delayed. We have never been to this hospital and are completely unfamiliar with the area. We attempted to park on the street as that is where the *** directed to reach 90 ****** St but no parking was available so we parked in the **** parking lot in a rush. When we returned our van was booted and there was a group of men and vehicles, one of whom approached and informed us that "we abandoned our vehicle on private property", a fine of $200 cash was demanded or the vehicle would be towed requiring $525 for release. I tried to explain that we didn't even have that much money to our names, my husband has been on disability for almost a year for this operation, we have 4 children and were unfamiliar with the area. I was directed toward an ATM and a parking garage down the street. We were then told a Zelle payment would be acceptable. Through panicked tears I made multiple phone calls trying to find someone to help us make the payment so we could get home to our children. That $200 I will have to repay will literally be taking food from my childrens mouths. Many of the responses I can see to previous complaints state people attempting to get "free parking" which was not at all the case here. There is a sign posted, but so low that in a vehicle it is very easy to miss especially with the amount of traffic in the area. I asked for a business card and was told to photograph the sign. Business seems extremely questionable and considering all cash or direct payments, IRS will be contacted as doubtful this is being honestly reported especially from someone monopolizing asphalt. I am devastated that this is the type of world we are living in.

Today, 10/20/22, I visited **** in on *********, in ******. I parked, legally, directly in front of the restaurant in the parking lot. I ordered my food to go. While it was being made, I walked across the street to the drugstore. I was gone 15mins, maybe.. I came back and my food was still not ready. I sat down in a booth and ate inside the restaurant when the food came. When I came out, my car had a boot on it and a note with a phone #. I called the number and was told I must have been parked illegally. I told them I was parked 100% legally. While I was on the phone, I man in a black unmarked Jeep pulled up and said he saw me walk across the street and I am not allowed to park there and leave the property. I said I waiting for my order. He also said he saw me come back and go back into the restaurant but still booted my car anyway. This man said it would be $200 CASH ONLY to remove the boot. THIS IS EXTORTION. This company, Safeway Parking Enforcement, should not be allowed to extort people like this. I was a patron of ***** I am allowed to park there while conducting business with ****.The sign says. "Parking for Customers Only." "Customers must remove vehicles from property once business is completed with the below listed establishments (****, KFC, Rite Aid)." MY business was NOT COMPLETED. MY **** ORDER WAS BEING PREPARED. I was a customer of **** until I finished eating my order and left.IF you saw me come back to the restaurant and go back inside, then YOU KNEW that my business with **** was NOT completed AND YOU BOOTED MY CAR ANYWAY.I paid $200 CASH to this man in an unmarked car. He would NOT even give me a receipt for the $200 cash. This company, Safeway Parking Enforcement, is PREYING on people. THIS is a SCAM and they should not be allowed to continue to do this.I have my receipt from **** and I have a photo of the sign.

I parked in the parking lot and went to **** before my shift at the hospital. I came out and my vehicle had a boot on it. I had to get to the hospital, so I could not deal with it at the time. I got done about 14 hours later and when I came back out and called the number on the card they left, it did not work. I had to wait for an hour and a half for someone to come take the boot off. This business is also blatantly lying in their responses. I said I dont have cash, I can pay with card. The guy argued with me and said we only take cash. They do not accept credit cards. They do not give receipts. This is a complete scam. I want my $200 back. I was lawfully parked.

************ you parked your Motorcycle in *************** store lot if I'm not mistaken, you were parked there prior to our start, actually prior to 7:45 Security in the Doctor's Office called in the complaint, once we responded the Motorcycle was Booted. It is my understanding that you stated you went to I Hop to eat, this lot has nothing to do with I hop, and you are a hospital employee, why would you park your vehicle on private property across from the Hospital, makes no sense. We give everyone the option for payment cash, credit card. You utilized the parking lot for 14 Hours the duration of your shift at the hospital. You called after hours and had to wait for me to remove the boot, I apologize for any inconvenience. Your Motorcycle was parked on private property for over 14 hours, just to let you know I hop's hours are 7:00 AM- 10:00 PM and is not affiliated with this lot. I hope this answers your question and please understand that I cannot reimburse you for this.

    Hope this satisfies your inquiry!

Safeway Parking Enforcement lied to the BBB in response to a complaint made on 3/25/22. The told the person making the complaint that they do take credit cards so he does not know why the complaining party told her he will only take cash. I know their response to you is false because today, 7/20/22, my car was booted and I was told that if I did not pay in cash by 3:00pm the fee goes up to $300 and my car will be towed. He left the scene but when I called and got money to pay him I returned and paid him. He quickly left without giving me a receipt. When I realized that I ran after him and asked for it. Instead of giving it to me he stated loudly, "Where is the card." I wasn't sure why he'd ask that and had to ask again for a receipt. He finally gave it to me that was perhaps due to the fact that his boss was nearby, maybe hearing everything I said. I spoke to an officer later and he said law enforcement believes that if a person wants cash, and will not take a credit card he is likely trying to make money for himself.

I spoke to you personally, it is our prerogative to take any payment we like as a business, with all due respect our price is on the signs posted all over the private property you parked on, to attend to your personal business at the Hospital, which has ample parking for all attendees of Hospital, however you have to pay to park at the hospital. You were uncooperative, lost our property so you say and continued to deny that you had it, where did it go then I have no idea. You were given the option to pay CASH or CREDIT CARD< and you were afforded the option of a receipt, i personally told you that we are transparent and do not lie to our customers. I understand you are upset, but this false allegation and statement you are making to make us look bad is uncalled for. You were treated with the utmost respect, I personally took care of you while I spoke to the parking technician on the other phone, due to you being upset and nervous. To all reading this there is no validity to your complaint and I am extremely disappointed as to this misguided, false  complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Anything further you can call me to discuss you have the information and my name is *****....

I am rejecting this response because: Vinnie wrote false information. He writes a lot but my complaint is only about the fact that I don't carry much cash around due to a lot of thefts and I didn't have $200 cash. I was NOT permitted to use my credit card to pay the fine. Vinny writes about issues I haven't complained about. I'm sorry I don't understand his response in full. Its likely due to his poor grammar.

You can call me all the names you like, insult my way of writing in response to your false accusation. Our way of doing business is legal and on the up and up, I spoke to you personally during your incident with us. I really don't know what else to say to you. Once again you were afforded any way to pay cash or charge. I have no idea where you are getting this information and why you are insulting me and my business. Complaint: 17595920

I am rejecting this response because: I absolutely did not call anyone names; moreover, I emphatically was told by the agent who booted my car that the only option to redeem my vehicle was to pay cash! Vinney is stating to the BBB that his company policy allows the use of credit cards or cash. He was not present until later so he did not hear the ultimatum I was given regarding payment.  I originally offered my credit card but was directed from the *** to the Rite Aid so I can go to an *** and get cash as payment. There was another man using his card at the *** to pay the cash only fine too. When I returned to the agent he refused the $200 because he wanted an additional $20 for his property he accused me of taking (I.E: The card that he put on my window with the company name and phone number). Perplexed, I told him I didnt have it. He pulled the receipt from my hand.
If I did not get it by 3:00 pm he said the fine would increase to $300.00 and my car would be towed. I called Safeway and explained my predicament to the representative who turned out to be Vinney. He seemed reasonable at that time and said he will call the agent. When I went to tell the agent to expect a call he was already on the phone with Vinney. The agent appeared visibly upset and drove passed me to the other side of the parking lot. He parked there. Another car was parked next to him. It was Vinny. Vinneys attitude had changed. Vinney insisted I must have the card in the blue folder in my car or in my purse. I immediately showed him both of these items. I did not have the card. The agent showed me what the card looked like and I said that card perhaps was the one he thought he gave me. Eventually Vinney relented. I got my $200 cash receipt and left.

Incidentally, I was a patron of the ***, where I parked. I bought my lunch as well as a poor mans lunch. He was counting change to see if he could buy anything. I bought him lunch and that was why I was late getting back to my car. Seeing the hospital so close, I crossed the street while finishing my sandwich to ask a question regarding the policy of hospital where my mom passed away in April. I wasnt trying to get free parking although I now see how it could be perceived another way. The expectation of one carrying that amount of cash is unrealistic. Threatening to increase the fine another $100.00 or my car would be towed if I didnt meet his 3 PM deadline was unprofessional. Obviously they wanted to run a cash only business. BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
