      I rented a minivan and safely returned it. It may have very little sand as much as how everyone returnes it with little dirt but all trash cleaned and returned. But they charged $450 for car cleaning which is insane and very fraudelent . Never rent from payless car rental as they can charge you extra for anything. THere are so many complaints in ****** regarding payless car rental

      I rented a truck that had a dent on the side and Payless marked it with a yellow marker to show it was already there when I picked the truck up. Two weeks after returning the vehicle I received an email stating that I caused the damage and they want my insurance information. Absolutely ridiculous!

      I rented a car from Payless at the *****************. My reservation, made a month ahead of time, was for a midsized SUV for $53/day. It ended up costing over $150/day.The companys extortion specialist tells me that this is for extra fees, one of which is the *** that I explicitly declined.This is not fees, this is fraud.Do not rent here.

      Rental charges are based on the rental parameters provided in the reservation or based on any changes made by the customer at the time the contract is created at the rental counter. These contracts are signed by the customer at the time of ********************** so that by signing the rental agreement contract, the customer agrees to all of the ********************** charges and any potential costs associated with changes in your rental parameters. The costs associated with any changes in the rental parameters are also outlined on the written contract. If a customer does not agree with the contract details presented at time of rental, it is the due responsibility of the renter to request clarification and correction prior to departing the location with the rental agreement and vehicle.
       
      We are sorry that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting. We have reviewed your rental agreement and based on the rental parameters that you agreed to on the signed rental agreement, we find the rental charges for services that were agreed to on the rental agreement to be correct as billed.

      We apologize that there was not a more favorable outcome.

      I recently returned a car from Payless Car Rental (affiliated with ****** Nearly 3 weeks after its return I received an email advising that there was glass damage (windshield). I responded in dispute of the claim of damage. Next day I received another email with bill, pictures of a long crack across the windshield, and copy of the last bill for the rental. Myself and the two other passengers absolutely KNOW there was no such crack on that windshield when it was returned. Had we known that this sort of thing is happening, we would have taken video before driving off the lot and upon return of the vehicle. In the future will absolutely be doing this. Will NEVER rent from Payless or **** again. Will tell friends and relatives about this injustice. Did contact my personal auto insurance, and sadly was told this sort of thing is happening more often. Expensive lessons learned here.

      Horrible company!! Zero stars from me!! I rented a car on May 30, 2024 from ****************** in **********. On June 7 th at 2 PM I returned it. Two hours ahead of schedule. I boarded a plane and flew home to *******. 3 days later I received a text about being late returning the car. I called them and some how they lost the car! Nothing showing I returned the car! When I went into the car rental return a girl scanned my vin and plate number, told me to put the keys on the dash and I was good to go. This place is now charging me a ton of fees for being late etc and I also received an email about a damage report. I have contacted my credit card company and I will file a dispute. This place is a scam do not use them. Also customer service is horrible. All I can find out from them is it is under investigation and Ill receive an email

      Typically, rental contracts will remain open until a vehicle has been accounted for and inventoried. In this case, we were unable to find a discrepancy in the time the vehicle was recovered to the ****************** (PHX) location. Because our **************** team is only able to remotely confirm check-in errors, we will typically request details and documentation to confirm a discrepancy.

      To further assist the investigation please provide any of, but not limited to, the following documents to **************************************************************:

      .-Boarding pass with date and time

      .-Parking validation with date and time

      .-Taxi/Ride share receipts showing station address(es)

      .-Fuel receipt from the actual gas station (no longer than 1 hr. prior to the return/drop off time/date)

      .-Return slip from the location

      Once we have received the information we will review for possible adjustment.

      On June 7, my wife and I and three children traveled to *************** from ************* **********. I had prepaid for my booking of a rental car through Payless booking agency upon arrival there was some complications with my credit card and I was unable to use the credit card for the deposit requested by Payless car rental.. normally not an issue. I wouldve just canceled the reservation and went to another company, however when attempting to do so the person that was helping me from behind the counter called me a trailer trash because my credit card would not go through. What kind of professionalism is that you have someone call me trailer trash all because my credit card was unable to be used at that time. And doing so in front of children, regardless of how you feel or what you think is completely unacceptable.

      Reports such as this are not taken lightly and the inappropriate behavior you encountered at the *************************************************** location will be addressed with management urgently. As you can understand, Payless **************** is not privy to the details of the actions taken as these records are restricted to the individual employees personal files.       Returned the rental car on 4/12/2024. Received an email on **************************************************** $450 to remove a smoke smell. Got another email with pictures of the interior that they claimed was ashes. I immediately called the customer service # on email and explained neither my wife nor I smoke (and we were only two people in the car). I disputed the charge and the agent said he could reduce the cleaning fee by $100 but I declined. Contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge, but they contacted Payless and said the charge was valid. Called the **************** number on the email and they again said there was nothing they could do since the local Payless team had pictures and documented their claim of smoke smell. I asked for local phone # of ***************** Payless office so I could speak to a manager, but it always goes to nationwide automated answer machine and no one will help. Neither my wife nor I smoke and no one else was in car. The car floor was dirty, but there were no ashes and no smoke smell when we left it at airport. They don't believe me when I tell my side of the story. All I can say at this point is I will never rent from ****, Budget nor Payless again. In the future, when I return a rental, I will take pictures of the interior and exterior and will ask the person checking the car out to sit inside and tell me if they smell smoke. Conclusion: use Turo/Uber!

      Upon arriving in *******************************, we entered Payless to obtain our pre-rented car. Based on our reservation, we were expecting to pay slightly more than $200. By the time we left, our bill had more than doubled to nearly $450.Starting with the most egregious and financially impactful lie, we were told that San Diego local law legally obligated us to purchase car insurance. Given that we frequently travel and rent cars, we expressed our doubt. After some back and forth, the employee insisted that this was the law and put the insurance on our bill.We reviewed our receipt outside and noticed several items were added in addition to the insurance. When we returned to discuss the matter the first time, the employee insisted there was an honest mistake and he gave us the wrong rate on one of the insurance items. He reduced the rate of this item and swiftly threw out our previous receipt.When we got into the rental car, we attempted to ****** this supposed law that required us to purchase the pricey Payless insurance. We did not find any evidence of such regulation. When we approached another Payless customer in the parking lot, they informed us they were not told of this supposed law and not made to pay the insurance fees.When we returned to the counter a second time and explained our encounter, the employee initially pushed back with the explanation of "it's a franchise". We insisted, and he removed one of the insurance charges. Again, he swiftly confiscated and disposed of the old receipt. We were not convinced he removed all of the charges, since there was one insurance cost remaining on our receipt. As our vacation plans were already delayed due to this issue, we decided to move on since the final cost was much closer to our online quote.The icing on the cake was that the employee insisted he was helping us the entire time by alluding to supposed deals he was giving us. At best, we were two young women who were profiled and manipulated.

      0 is my score. Please do not rent from this company. Absolutely the WORST decision. I was on vacation in ******* recently and a rock hit my window which caused a chip which turned into a crack. My insurance company will cover the cost but I have not been able to contact anyone on the phone or email who gives me any information. I keep being referred to different phone numbers for claims department. And I get put on hold and I waited for 2 hours one day and my insurance agent waited on the phone for 2 hours as well. The runaround is crazy. No one will get back to me. They're telling me that they are going to charge my account that they have on file and I'm trying to get a hold of them to tell them my insurance company wants to send the check to them. I still have no response.

However, in the case of your rental, the repairs were minimal and the charge is being billed to you directly as rental coverage was not accepted. You will need to make arrangements for reimbursement for the glass damage charges from your insurance company as we cannot take payment from them on your behalf.

      If 0 were a possible score, I would do that. The rental car guy kept trying to get me to add "packages" to my car rental verbally. I kept saying no. He told me none of the packages would change the price and rushed through everything, saying they were really behind and only had 1 car left. I swiped my card and headed to my car.The car was great and ran fine. However, when I looked at my invoice, I saw it was hundreds of dollars more than he'd verbally told me. As I read the breakdown, it was because of several insurance packages I didn't want or need, and that he said he would just add for "free" as a favor.I have been calling and emailing the business for over a month. They keep giving me the run around. They say they have no record of me ever renting with them, but on other calls, can "find" my information, but don't have permission to access it and gives me a different number to call that can help me. They keep asking me for a rental agreement, but I was never emailed or handed a paper copy. I feel they purposefully give upset customers the run around and just hope we will give up contesting fraudulent charges.
