      In December of 2023, my wife and I bought a house in St Croix, USVI and planned a move there. We hired Universal Relocations to pack and move our household goods from Woodruff, SC to Christiansted, VI. In the process of deciding how many and what size containers we needed, my wife did a video conference with their company rep - she walked around our house and property with her phone and showed the rep by video everything we planned to move. He concluded we needed one 40 ft container at a cost of $24,000, and one 20 ft container for $20,000. I expressed doubt at that time that our goods would fit in those two containers, but was assured that those two containers would be adequate. January 8 & 9, 2024 the packers arrived to pack and wrap the items, and on Jan 10 the 20 ft container arrived at our house. The driver, after numerous attempts and jack-knifes, finally backed the truck along our straight & level driveway up to our garage (damaging the roof shingles in the process) and proceeded to load. The garage contents filled the 20 ft container, and I expressed doubt again that the rest of our goods would fit in one 40 ft container - but was assured that everything would fit (they even said there would be room left over). The next day, the 40 ft arrived, and the same driver refused to back the truck up the drive - we were told they would have to ferry the goods out to the road for an additional $800 (they used our rented U-Haul truck to do this). All the while I kept saying I didn't think things would fit, but was assured there would be room left over. After loading the 40 ft to capacity, there was a pile of our stuff left, and the supervisor told me, "Well, we bit off more than we could chew." I was then told we would need another 20 ft container at a cost of $20,000. We had airline tickets for Jan 13, and had no choice but to pay. I complained to the rep, but was told "That's the way it goes in the moving business." I trusted their expertise, but feel I was scammed.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      Their response is a bold-faced lie. We were never informed that there might be additional charges during the process - instead, as I have already stated, we were repeatedly assured our belongings would fit in a 40 ft and a 20 ft container. Of course, as these arrangements were all verbal, I only have the testimony of my wife to corroborate my statements. This company has no problem fabricating what they perceive to be the truth, and just as I first thought, this complaint will have no lasting effect and this company will go on scamming money out of naive, hard-working  people like my wife and I. At least I have learned one thing - trust no one in this day and age and get everything in writing, as truth and honesty seem to be principles of days gone by. I grew up in a time when a man's word was sacred, and a handshake was good enough to seal a deal. These days, you have to have a bank of lawyers to get any justice in the world. What a shame...

      Shipping Date: 19 MAY 2022 Estimated Shipping Duration: 55 Days My family and I relocated from ***** *** to ******* at the beginning of June, 2022. We shipped our household goods and 6 motorcycles, which were picked up in ***** 19th May 2022. The company we shipped with is ******************************, a ***** moving company. Our container of items arrived at the port in ******, **********, 02 September 2022. Container No: MSKU4627709 Vessel and Voyage no: MERATUS JAYAWIJAYA, 229S.Shipping Line: Maersk Executive Movers Worldwide LLC engaged the services of Universal Relocations to handle ******* import and onward shipping of all our items to ***********.Shipping Reference Number: UR-*****, Shipping to Myself, ***** ************************* Universal Relocations Shipment ********** (** Headquarters)Universal Relocations INC.343, ********************************************************** Phone : ************ / ************ ***************************** Contacts:****** *************************** Universal Relocations has split our shipment, sent to multiple states (**, GA, CA), including shipping our household items to ***** where they have apparently been held in a warehouse for over a month. On 17 October Universal Relocations confirmed they would deliver by the first week of November. On October 26th, they confirmed a delivery date 02 NOV 2022 at 4pm, later confirming the motorcycles will arrive from ********** the same day, at 1PM.On 02 NOV 22, (2) motorcycles arrived from **********, and no shipment arrived from **, i.e. no household goods. The location of the 4 other motorcycles is apparently "unknown at this time." Additionally, we are now told the Household Items were never even scheduled to leave **, it was another delay tactic, a lie.We request that Universal Relocation immediately schedule the delivery of all of our items, especially household items.

      Universal Relocations was commissioned into service for transporting Household Goods as LCL (Less than Container Load) Shipment in March 2022 from My address ** ***** to ****** on an agreed quote of ****** Currency INR ****** for 4 CBM (cubic meter) volume. This was to aide in me moving from ***** to ******.Shipment was packed & picked up by Universal Relocation personnel on April 27th, 2022 , with a confirmed volume not exceeding 3.7 CBM (as confirmed by Universal personnel) with a committed delivery timeline of 45 Days to ******. Shipment was supposed to leave ***** within few days of my leaving ***** on May 09th 2022.Not only was the delivery delayed to now (today is Aug 25th, 2022) more than 3.5 months, rendering ******* family including a 4 year old kid to fend for ourselves without our personal effects in a new country, causing us to overspend on gap purchases & renting things, Universal Relocation has demanded additional payments claiming unforeseen reasons to release my shipment for delivery.My shipment is currently Customs cleared in ****** but sitting in a ********** Warehouse, less than a 100 miles away from my residence at *********, *******. The shipment has been accumulating demurrage since Aug 15th at this bonded ********************************** Relocation personell have been giving unclear answers since several months after the shipment got picked ****** made payments in full before departing *****.I've made repeated requests to reach Universal Relocation staff, Support, even the owner ********************************* Operations director Ms. *************************** but all my attempts to request clarity in the process has been deliberately denied.I now fear my shipment will be lost or i'll be extorted into paying through my nose on an already expensive shipment, all because of Universal Relocation's staff inefficiencies, lack of timely followup leading to delays.Requesting urgent help !Regards ********************* +1_226_972_9111
