Upon initial visit to the ENT center, I have made multiple calls to the center as well as my insurance to confirm there would be no charge for the visit. Upon my visit and first consultation, the doctor recommended an additional test, which I confirmed with the doctor if it would be covered by the insurance and would not occur any additional cost to me. The doctor confirmed there would be no additional cost and continued the test. At the time, I have paid the co-pay and left. In the new few weeks, I started receiving multiple bills regarding this payment due. When speaking to the office about this matter, there was no resolution that was come upon and stated I will owed the amount since the test was conducted. I believe this is an unfair practice and not right. I have since received multiple letters from collection agencies in this matter.

      Business Response

We are very sorry for the delay in our response as we were in review of the account.

Our compliance team has reviewed the chart notes and the following was determined.

The patient paid a copay on the first visit of $45 however the patient was actually responsible for a copayments of $150 due to the procedure done. This balance difference remains unpaid. After review we have changed the coding so once this is re processed the patient will receive a revise statement if there is any balance forthcoming.

The patient then opted to have a sleep study as well as a follow up visit to review all results and both visits did require a copayment as per the patients insurance contracted benefits.

Unfortunately, we can not waive the co pays as they are the patients responsibility to pay and are due at the time of the visit. We mailed many statements to her as well as reached out via telephone prior to being sent to collections to discuss this matter with *********** We also discussed the matter with her and explained we would not waive the copayments owed.

The patient asked for us to remove the charge but unfortunately, we are required to itemize our billing to insurance companies.  The patient balance will have to remain as is.

      Thank you
