SEFCU charged me and overdraft fee when my account was positive and that one overdraft caused my account to be overdraw in which they charged me 3 more overdraft fees. My account was positive and then I made an additional deposit. At that point the deposit was made my account was positive. SEFCU refuses to refund me these charges because of “past reversals” even though my account clearly shows a positive balance when the first overdraft charge was made (causing other charges). As I requested i would like these erroneous charges reversed as this is illegal. Screenshots attached.

I was made aware of 11 $28 overdraft fees that SEFCU put on my account excessively. Several of the overdraft charges were listed as payments to merchants instead of as insufficient funds fees. SEFCU has used this way to hide overdraft fees. I have overlooked many of these hidden overdraft fees because SEFCU makes it shows as merchandise transactions. Two of the fees are based on unauthorized charges on my account. After speaking with management by phone (William Hodge) on 8/16/22 he stated that for 6 months I cannot request anything on my account, which is different than the 1 month information provided by the bank tellers at the SEFCU Patroon Creek branch in Albany, NY. I told William not to make any changes on my account and I will go into the branch because I’m getting conflicting information. Today I had the worst SEFCU experience with Bruce S******** at the 700 Patroon Creek Blvd branch. Bruce stated I was lying about speaking with William and that William was told by his manager to take back the courtesy charges when this was not the case. I explained that all the calls are recorded and informed the call center I would be handling this issue with the branch directly. Bruce could not explain why SEFCU was hiding some charges that are overdraft fees as merchant transactions. I demand a full audit of my bank account and refund as SEFCU has hid many charges as other things. The $28 payments that is showing for Afterpay and verwrlss for example are really overdraft fees (insufficient funds fees) but there are also properly identifiable $28 insufficient fees that are labeled as such (see attached photo). This is providing information in a misrepresented way.

The Overdraft Protection Act of 2021 is a bill that makes it illegal for banks to be deceptive or unfair about their overdraft coverage. I do not have overdraft coverage so by Federal Reserve law the transactions must be declined. Instead SEFCU is paying out and then excessively charging. This is illegal.

Thank you for providing us the opportunity to respond to
**** ********’s inquiry regarding charges made to his credit card. We reviewed **** ********’s credit card account history,
for the items in question, specifically the charges of $130.00; $10.00 and
$19.99.  It appears that these were disputed, fraudulent items that were
improperly credited to the old card and then debited to the new card in error.

Our Financial Crimes team has reached out to our card
servicer for the appropriate corrective action to be performed.
Additionally, **** was contacted to explain the situation and walk through the
remediation efforts that will be completed in the next 5-7 days.  The
Financial Crimes team representative provided their contact information to ****
and indicated they would be contacted once the items were corrected.

Once these corrections are made and communicated to ****
********, we will consider this matter closed.
