We had Five Star Paving put our paved driveway in. We originally had a concrete driveway and switched over to pavement. The driveway cost us over $12,000.00. About half way through the owner of Five Star Josh calls me while I’m at work saying you need to come home now. I go home and he’s bitching and whining about how it’s too big of a job and that he was in over his head. BUT get this … he CAN give me a STONE driveway instead for the SAME money. And he can come back the following year or whenever I’m ready for a PAVED driveway and he’d give me a new estimate for one. Of course we had a signed contract and of course I said NO, I paid over $12,000.00 for a paved driveway and that’s what I want. THEN he gets pissed off and says… “YOU BETTER HAVE ALL THE MONEY WHEN I’M DONE!” I was like what? What contractor says that? I said … Oh I’ve got it. Please finish. He jumps in his machine and starts throwing a tantrum. I said whatever and went back to work. He puts down the stone and paves it the next day. At first, it looks great and I pay him. Less than a month later my driveway starts to drop and sag. I reach out to him and at first he says … I can’t come right now but I’ll call you in a week and come back out, clearly stalling me. That was the last I heard from him. It’s been getting worse. For over a year I have tried to get him to come back out and see it. I called, left messages as well as texted, and was completely ignored. About a month ago I called him one last time leaving a message about major issues with my driveway and nothing. I contacted someone who also does paving and was informed that the pavement was out down to early. They were supposed to wait a couple weeks for it to settle, THEN pave it. I have to walk around very large water holes. Last winter, it was all ice. Now its winter again. Now I need to have someone come and redo almost have of it. The contract covers NOTHING anyways. He’s worded it so no matter what the issue is, you’re NOT covered.
