      As most people in the US, I haven't had great experiences with the health insurance industry overall, however Meritain takes the prize for the worst one. They are denying claims for in network preventive care because they say we have not submitted a coordination of benefits form. I submitted the form twice online, and twice through phone customer service, they even said it has been forwarded to the appropriate area. It has been 3 months and they keep giving me the run around, provide no resolution and meanwhile keep sending me reminders to submit said form. The bills keep coming, might have to pay out of pocket just to avoid damaging my credit. I worry if we ever really got sick how that they would still not provide coverage. I am trying to convince my husband to look for another job because having Meritain as our insurance is equivalent to being uninsured.

      I agree with every single other person on this review that said this insurance company deserves no stars! They take an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to approve doctors' orders. I had to wait 3 1/2 weeks to get approved for an MRI for a knee injury. Luckily nothing is torn, and surgery is not required because based on other people's reviews on this company that would've been a nightmare to go through with this company. But my tibia is fractured and has not been improving so the doctor recommended physical therapy to help. It's been over two weeks, and they still haven't approved that for me to begin PT. I've spoken on the phone with representatives multiple times about what could possibly be taking so long only to be spoken to rudely. What a horrific insurance company that has caused people so much additional pain. Their actions are so disgraceful, they should be ashamed.

      This is the worse of the worse to have as your Union pharmacy coverage! I have been denied for COPD inhaler meds and had to call to get assistance that took far too long? I also was denied a preventive respiratory injection and had to be on the phone “Literally Fighting for my Rights to get the ***** insurance to help me with my situation while bring passed from at least 4 representatives for a full Hour & a half”? To no avail until I insisted on speaking with a supervisor who took less than 20 min to tell me how broken up the system is with who pays what to say call another source of insurance which should have been able to have been expressed/advised to me 3 representatives ago!!! And Who the heck is “Meritain”??? At least 2 of the representatives tried to tell me that they were a part of the plan that I had no knowledge of, and they wasn’t even able to get through to??? IJS This is a sad situation for anyone to have to be in.????

      Stuck with this insurance company by my husband's company. Worst insurance we have ever had. They preapprove surgeries then refuse to pay for them. I would never recommend this company

      Just all about money! Refused to help a member at the request of the provider. By refusing to help, leaves me with a 5-figure medical bill!

      I have cancer since then they are refusing treatments that the doctor, is requesting, the doctor had to go a different route for my chemo because they also dined that know I need my radiation treatments and also giving the doctors a hard time. I guess they like for the people to die so they dont have to pay,

      horrible. I am a doctor seeing a frail bedbound patient in a large nursing home. Nothing but the runaround from this company regarding claims. It's a shame that this person's spouse, or their employer, has paid premiums likely for decades, only to have such care claims denied. Impossible to reach a provider rep.

      After months of Meritain incorrectly filing my claims as out of network (to which they even admitted was their mistake), they continue to refile the same claims incorrectly. As a result my provider has finally dropped Meritain and I had to pay for months of medical service out of pocket.
      Like other clients mentioned here, customer service is very unhelpful and incompetent. Requests to speak to a supervisor are denied and there is no avenue to submit formal complaints. Resubmit and call in back in 30 days, then call back in 10 more days, then resubmit again call back in 30 more days, etc.
      The best part: I went into Meritain’s Facebook page and expressed my frustration, hoping for a response. They did, and they asked for my contact information so that they can escalate my issue and assured me a callback on the same day. It’s been over a week now and still no call back. I tried to respond to the original Meritain ** message and discovered I was blocked!
      I am giving up hope that this issue will ever get resolved. At this rate I wholeheartedly urge anyone with medical insurance options to avoid Meritain Health at all costs. It is better to spend more for less that will at least be paid out.

      Horrible! Trying to get reimbursed for my glasses and not having any luck. First it was 30 days, now they will expedite it for urgent review, another 2-3 weeks. They actually told me that there are many urgent reviews in the que so I was not the only one. What a joke. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there wasn't one there and they didn't know when there would be one. It is like they are amusing themselves not paying out for coverage. I guess they are hoping people give up but it is so unprofessional. Very questionable business practices!

      Wish that I could give a "no star' rating. We all know that insurance is a joke as the working class pay in endless amounts of money only to be nickel and dimed whenever we are hoping to have procedures covered for what we pay into the system. I had an office hand and elbow surgery (Carpal Tunnel and Cubital Tunnel) and paid roughly $3K cash. I submitted my bills which of course covered the deductible first. I will be getting $232 back from Meritain Health after being told before I did the procedure that I should expect a much larger portion of the money that I spent over my deductible. When I asked why this was the case, I was told other in office surgeries cost "x", and this is what you get. 99% of people have my surgery type in the surgery center or operating room which would have cost Meritain 5-10 times more. Unfortunately, the joke and expense is on me. Unacceptable
