I had life insurance with Lumico Life Insurance and canceled the policy #********. The reason that I canceled the policy was because they entered inaccurate information on the policy. Due to this I no longer have confidence or trust in this company even though they offered to correct this problem. I have asked to be reimbursed $3006.00 as I was paying $83.50 a month for 3 years and they have refused to reimburse this amount. Every time I call I am only allowed to speak with customer service and nobody from their review team. I am a senior citizen and cant afford this financial loss and be without life insurance coverage.Lumico is acting like a corporate bully by completely disregarding my reimbursement request. I request that BBB intervene on my behalf. Because Lumico has refused to reimburse my funds I have requested that they reinstate me using these funds for the monthly premiums of $83.50 for the next 3 years.Business Response

Oct 3rd i had a fax sent to them by another insurance carrier to cancel my policy but they claim they never recieved it to keep my premium and not refunding my $ 83 dollars 38 cents they gave me 3 different excuses everytime i call them thats my complaint.Business Response

My father purchased a insurance policy on 1/31/2022 effective 2/1/2022. ****************************** policy # ******** He had an over the phone application and i was with him when he answered all the medical questions. In January of 2023 he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. i called the insurance company to make sure we weren't going to have any problems with the payout because he only had the policy less than a year. I was told everything was fine and just enjoy the time with my father. He passed on 8/2/2023. I filed the claim and was promptly denied and received all the monies paid into the policy. They claim he lied on the application about having a chronic condition. I asked them to send me the doctors report and a copy of the call since they record everything. Now they claim its going to take months to release this information. I asked them when they write a policy do they underwrite it to make sure its right before issuing a policy, was told yes but i couldn't speak to anyone in that department. My claim is denied and my Dad died from cancer not any chronic illness and that's what is stated on the death certificate that i sent to them.Business Response

Lumico repeatedly called about life insurance said they'd send a document for me to sign...have not signed nothing to agree to have their life insurance. I received a letter today 8-1-23 about my rights with them sharing my information...I haven't even agreed to take the policy out or signed any papers & calling my bank to make sure they haven't charged my account that I don't have to begin with they also continue to call. On line insurance agency selling life insurance for coverage for end of life. When I received a phone number from Lumico Insurance. I told him I was an insurance agent and asked him to please take me off his list. I blocked the number and deleted the call. 1 minute I received another email with the first 3 numbers to match my area code. I have calls every day once 75.The calls came from Lumico.while I was traveling some of the calls started to cover the *** AND I MADE THE WRONG TURN TWICE. On June 29, 2023 life insurance company Lumico debited $121.58 from my checking account. I never heard of that company. I looked up their #, spoke to ******* who said to fax my bank statement to customer service for them to investigate. When I refused they told me to contact my bank. I asked what name was on the ************ wouldnt tell me for privacy reasons. My name was not on it. I cannot fathom how they got my bank account number. I contacted my bank who is investigating. Something is wrong here. Unsure if this is related; on June 16, 2023 I purchased a life insurance policy with Companion life insurance, underwritten by ****** ** ***** who did a debit on my checking account with my approval. Between those 2 dates I subscribed to AARP. When I looked up Lumicos # AARP shows up on the search list. It all seems connected but not. AARP says theyre not connected to Lumico. Too coincidental, even ominous. I just cant imagine how Lumico got my banking info for a policy thats not even mine. Thank you.Business Response

My mom passed away on 1/15/23. I filed an insurance claim I believe around 1/25/23. They requested me to send a birth certificate for next to kin, and I sent it to them by faxing as well as mailing it. Since then I&#**;ve been calling weekly for a status update but continue to get different information. I&#**;ve been told they were waiting to receive my next of kin document, until the call was escalated to a manager who confirmed it was received. They&#**;ve also told me the were waiting on information from the hospital for over 3 months. Today I called and spoke to them to get an update and they said they are still waiting to receive paperwork from the hospital. I feel like they are just waiting for me to stop calling about the insurance claim.Business Response

I had gotten sick and was unable to an pay the premiums. Because I was hospitalized I didnt answer any of my bills so my life insurance was cancelled which I understand but due to circumstances I cant pay for life insurance anymore so Id like my little bit of money I have paid into it back. Ive emailed Lumico via email to there customer service for more than a month ago and still I havent received a response.Business Response

I, to this present time have not received any correspondence from LUMICO. If theyve tried to call me, I have NO messages. I find it pretty annoying that I received so so many messages, texts, and letters for payment then late past due payments but when I asked for cancellation with the return of MY money, LUMICO is silent, WOW is this the way LUMICO would make it so hard for my love ones to get death insurance IF I stayed with that life insurance! I will do my own investigating when Im ready!

So if this Life Insurance Company LUMICO needs to keep my tiny amount that I sent in, then I guess I have no choice. But I do have my experience with this company and I will share it with all my family and friends. Beware of this company! Thank you BBB for giving me a platform to express my experiences with Businesses who are supposed to look out for the consumer but instead looks out for their POCKETS.

I was the beneficiary on my brother's policy whom passed away May 12th 2022. Lumico Life insurance company is who he had his policy with and because he had had it less than 2 years they wanted to contest it. This has been an ongoing case because every time they get a medical record from a doctor it takes them 6 weeks or longer to try to resolve the issue. Here it is March 2023 and I'm still waiting on the $5,000 benefit. This company seems to be a big scam because every time you call you only talk to a representative that's working from their home. They will not give you higher authority information where you can get in touch with someone else. So this has come to be a ridiculous company. I have called many times and all they can tell me is it's still being reviewed. I will never ever recommend this company to anybody I know.Business Response
