Had an issue with burner lockout. Tech that claimed he had 21 years experience came out to fix the problem. He changed the filter and nozzle and declared it fixed, all of which I had previously done...and I explained to him this issue was likely beyond these two items. I was fine with the replacement filter and nozzle, but expected more diagnosis for the charge he quoted. He didn't do anything except note a very slight leak in the delivery line, but didn't tighten for some reason...probably wanted extra money for a 2 minute fix. Claimed that air was getting into the line due to a very slight leak. Same lockout occurred the same day, less than 12 hours....IF, and I mean IF air was the issue, then the occasional drip would have been much more significant. Did he tighten the fitting? Nope. Made up a lame excuse as to why he couldn't fix it.
Called for manager the next day who assured me a call back. No call back and furnace doesn't work properly...continues to lock out.
I was desperate due to an injury to have someone fix the issue with the furnace and fell for the 'no fee just to come out'. Then I get a ridiculous quote for a simple filter and nozzle change, which takes less than an hour and parts are probably less than $30. It was too late to have someone else come out at that point. But to then have the tech see a simple issue that is ignored such as a slight drip (two wrenches and 2 minutes) and then claim air is entering the line (which is BS as I explained above) is shameful. I can only imagine the charge by the company to change the line...something he claimed was necessary...(It's not...)They're not good and they continue to delete my review and leave only fake 4 & 5 star reviews on their website.Auchinachie Plumbing & Heating

During our phone conversation, you mentioned that the unit was not running, most likely due to a used oil tank you installed that was filled with crud. You agreed to change the filter, nozzle, and strainer screen since you were unable to do that at the time. The tenant also reported having to reset the oil burner multiple times during this heating season, which we noted when we arrived.
We got the unit up and running, but we also noticed leaking inside the cabinet and on two separate compression fittings, which are not suitable for use in fuel oil systems. These fittings can introduce air into the oil supply, causing issues like rumbles, pulsations, and erratic spray patterns from the oil burner nozzle, especially under pump pressures of 80-130 psi and vacuum.
The charge you paid was for the work completed to replace burner parts, filters, and calibrate the burner. We explained that the piping issues you had were something you chose not to address, and we left the system operational despite these ongoing concerns.
Regarding your comments about the technician and the service provided, we genuinely regret that you did not feel the issue was properly addressed. Our goal is always to provide thorough and honest service, and we understand that the communication may not have met your expectations. The slight leak you mentioned is something we tried to address, but you chose not to fix.
We want to clarify that our team always aims to address the root cause of any issue. If we missed anything during our visit, we’re happy to discuss it further to ensure your system is fully functioning.
We understand your frustration and would like to work with you to find a solution. Please feel free to contact us directly if you'd like to discuss this matter further.Jason S

I find it hard to believe that this company continues to lie and make up whatever they feel is necessary to protect bad employees and bad company practices. I was forced to have a company come look at the system I had due to a physical injury. I am very well aware of the system and how it is set up. Although I didn't set up the system, I have done the basic maintenance on the system and similar systems for quite some time. The tank was a used tank that 'may' have had some sediment in it (it was less than 10 years old), however I didn't feel that a plugged filter and nozzle were the primary issues with the system. I never used the phrase 'filled with crud'. The tank had fuel oil in it, was pumped before it was moved and then refilled. I was ok with changing the filter and the nozzle since this is basic maintenance but I specifically told the company there were other issues. I felt the ignition system needed to be looked at and tested. The tech called with his 'diagnosis' and I could tell that he had no idea why the system wasn't working properly, since it 'fired right up'. I found out later from my tenant, that the system did not 'fire right up', rather the tech filled the furnace with fuel oil (because it didn't ignite properly) and then if finally ignited, filling the furnace and chimney as well as the basement with smoke. He never disclosed this information to me in his 'evaluation'. The tech claimed there was a leak due to compression fittings in the cabinet and that's why it was locking out. There are no compression fittings in the cabinet....which can easily be proven. The only compression fittings are in a return line. The supposed 'leak' I found was that the tech intentionally left the bleeder valve slightly open, leaving fuel leaking into the cabinet... and also allowing air into the system so that it would not ignite properly and would likely lead to a call back for another 'fix'. I fully believe this to be an intentional act to then quote a ridiculous price to replace all the lines (unnecessarily of course). This wasn't even a quote I was interested in obtaining because I knew the system too well to know that the tech was lying to me and their 'honest service' was really doing unnecessary work to gouge the customer. They never tried to 'address the leak'; they created the leak.
Before I had a chance to do my own investigation, I called the company and said they never fixed any problem after the system locked out after less than 12 hours later and felt I was owed a refund. I did not want the company to 'fix the problem' that I felt they never addressed properly to start from and created a worse problem. I was told I would receive a call back, which I never received, so unlike they stated in their response, I was trying to communicate with the company for a resolution(refund), to which they did not want to provide.
I was able to eventually (even with my injury), with assistance from my spouse, get into the basement to closer evaluate the system. What we found were the leak at the bleeder valve with fuel oil all over the cabinet (an no leaking compression fittings, anywhere). The unit also did not ignite properly, even with the valve fully sealed, so as I stated to the tech the day he did his evaluation 'there is something else creating a failure to ignite the system. The unit did finally ignite after further adjustment of the ignition system(and filling the unit with fuel oil creating the same plume of smoke that filled the basement), however the igniter is weak and needs to be replaced (when I'm physically able...luckily it's warm now. Testing the igniter is simple, but not something that was done by the company.
So rather than an honest and fair repair, I was taken advantage of and the company tried to further charge me for a made up 'air leak', that was really their doing. They tried to baffle me with numbers and technical talk in their response to cover up their own incompetence and dishonesty. Unfortunately, I'm sure that works on most people. This company is charging top dollar for poor service and people need to know the truth.Review fromMarshall J

1 starFalsely advertising prices. We had sewer back up issues. Contacted the plumbing department. Tech came out and ran a camera down and found tree roots had grown into the main sewer line. They sent us a quote to repair the line. It was 11,000. We Contacted a local that installs septic tanks. He came and did more than just repair the line. For 2,000. Auchinachie sent us a bill for the main line camera inspection and it was 2,500. I went to their website and big as day is an add for camera inspection of main sewer line, for $199.00. I Contacted them and asked why our bill was so high when the advertised price is $199. They eventually got back to me a said, pay your bill. The work was done and your wife signed saying you would pay. We've paid the bill but are extremely disappointed. Which is the first time. They've come and done work for us (hot water heater, etc...) and never done something like this to us before. I don't know why they decided to screw us on this occasion but it's very disheartening and we want everyone to know that you may get good pricing with them or they may decide business has been slow and hit you up for more than they should, in order to get the income up.Review fromTammy S

1 starWe had a new furnace installed in October. When they cut the hole for the vent pipes they drilled a hole in my water pipe. They never said a thing to us. They just drilled another hole and put silicone in the big hole. Now here in January we found out we had a leak. This pipe has been leaking since October. We had to pay a plumber to come out and replace the pipe. Now we have to have the closet in our garage completely torn out and everything replaced. We contacted Auchinachie regarding this and they are refusing to take responsibilty. They have refused to give us nor our homeowners insurance their business insurance info. They are responsible to reimburse up for the cost of fixing the piping and the cost to repair all the water damage. Yet they are not. They asked for pictures of the pipe and the water damage. We sent them all the pictures. They were sent to a woman named Danny and said she got them. We also spoke to Jeff. Who acknowledged that his guys did it and said these things happen. However he did not know who their insurance carrier is. Jeff told us to contact our homeowners insursance and they would contact them to file with his insurance. Now they are back peddling and refusing to fix what they broke. I would not recommend them to anyone. I would not use this company ever again.Review fromRose H

1 starWe bought a system from them for a tankless heat and hot water system. It has been defective from day one and we are so sorry they went with them. They won't do anything about it and we have been without heat and hot water this week with single digit temperatures. This isn't the first time this has happened to us. I highly recommend you go elsewhere and STAY AWAY FROM AUCHINACHIE! They are horrible on keeping their systems running but are more than happy to charge you every time they have to come and half the time it doesn't work after they've been here. They "cleaned" the system which was supposed to be "free", but it cost us over $250. They were here on Wednesday and Thursday night the system went down. We called them on Friday and they said they would call us back. It's now Sunday and we haven't heard from them. Stay away from them!

1 starI'd give zero stars if it was an option... Complete rip off... they replaced a $20 part on my boiler, which took them less then an hour and then charged me $750. The part they replaced sis not fix the problem, still no heat and the pilot light still would not light. At that point they wanted to replace the gas valve and quotes me $2000. I had another company come over and they replaced the valve in less then 30 minutes. The part only cost me $150, so they were auchimachie was going to change me $1850 in labor for 30 minutes of work!!!! That's insane and should be illegal. I don't have the patience or time to try and fight with them to get my $750 back. I just took it as en expensive lesson. Thus company is nothing but crooks. They get paid on commission so they go out of there way to have you replace items that don't even need to be replaced just so they can bleed every dollar they can out of the customer. I hope they lose all there business and go bankrupt at some point, they deserve itReview fromcarla G

1 starMyself and my mom called them for a quote. First my call was a leaking valve in my basement. They quoted the whole line from the street to the house had to be replaced. 15k financed, 13k if I paid cash. Well I called another plumber and the quote was 5k and the final bill came in at 4.7k. Highway robbery.
My mom's quote to put in a vent under her sink to get the the sink to drain. 700+. The did that and the sink still did not drain. My mom told them to look at the pipes in the basement and would probably need to replace the galvanized and run new up to the sink. They refused to do it said the vent would do the trick. Well it didn't. She called the plumber I called and got the same quote 700+ to do the whole pipe in the basement up to the kitchen sink and all new plumbing under the sink. The sink drains. The galvanized pipe was full like she said.Review fromDaisy and Bablu S

1 starPoor service. Too expensive not a recommended company. Caused my elder mom a lot of trouble after $20,000 she spent and they didn't do the job right had them come back out 4 times ( LP leak, water pipes not hooked up, no shut off valve, left water line laying on ground. My mom had gas company come out for the gas leak and Auchinanchie said they would pay and didnt. The list of their goof ups goes on farther. Too many to list NEVER AGAIN!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE EVER ??Review fromJerry K

1 starBuyer beware when calling Auchinachie for plumbing repairs! Their pricing structure is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!! I called them for a toilet clog at my elderly mother's home and it ended up costing $2k. At the time I did not know any better and I was happy that they could respond quickly. Now I know that I could have gotten the toilet jetted for much less and actually it could have been resolved using a bladder but the tech did not have the right size bladder with him. Our visit started with the tech showing us the initial charges at $600+. I responded that was not what I had discussed with his office as they were running a $189 special to clear clogs. He agreed to that price and then tried to snake the main line but was not able to clear the clog. Then he came back with his tablet again and said we would need to proceed with the next step (using a bladder) and the new price was $800+. He pulled up the toilet (closest to the clean out, which was not the one with the clog) and then said that there wasn't a bladder size that fit our line. I later found out that was inaccurate when I visited my local hardware store. Out came the table again and the next step was jetting the line for $1600+. We then waited for them to deliver the jetting machine from their office and it arrived empty. They had to use our water to fill the machine and it took 45 min to an hour. Our water was cloudy for days afterward from running the pump so much. The jetting did solve the issue but then the tech said he couldn't get the toilet back in place. It was now almost 5 pm on Friday. He stated that he could come back on Monday but that would be an additional charge. We declined and a family friend ended up doing it for us. Upon further reflection and research I really regret ever engaging them. I called their office to say I was not happy with the way the job ended. I was told the tech shouldn't have said there was going to be an additional charge but nothing more was offered.
