1 star2024 Charging $500+ for an annual heating system cleaning with no problems or parts needed is terrible business. The service was a half hour. This business has unsatisfactory integrity and character. The numerous complaints and reviews associated with Auchinachie further demonstrate their negative business character. 1 starAuchinachie charged me $6000 for a sump pump and battery backup. As it was an emergency and I didn't know any better, I willingly paid it. Over the next couple days, I realized I had been taken advantage of and gouged at least three times a normal price. After checking the BBB site, I realize I am not alone in being unhappy with this company. Unfortunately, it was of my own volition that I chose the sump pump cost. I was offered four choices ranging from $2800-$5800 and being ignorant, chose the highest option. For that, I have myself to blame. But the exorbitant cost has made me sick to my stomach. I just hope this costly sump pump lasts a good long while.
This is just a warning should an innocent, dumb consumer (like myself) happen to hire these guys.Review fromJessica R

Extreme warning! This company sent two..what I thought were techs ...but only 1 was a tech the other was an obvious salesman. My gas furnace stopped working I called 3 Co. Auchinachie was the only one to look at it the same day. I got 5 different prices ranging from $1080-2600 to fix my issue ask the SALESMAN why are you giving me 5 prices when there is only 1 thing preventing it from working. Anyway I could go on forever with this bad experience but I finally got it fixed for a $10 flame sensor part. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you enjoy giving your hard earned money away.Auchinachie Plumbing & Heating

I am writing to address a recent complaint we received
regarding our service. We understand that having no heat in one's home is a
stressful situation. Upon our visit, we observed that the heating unit had not
been maintained regularly, which is crucial for its efficient and safe
operation. Our team provided multiple options to thoroughly clean the unit and
repair the immediate issue. This approach was aimed at not only fixing the
current problem but also ensuring the long-term efficiency and safety of the
unit. While you were on the phone with your insurance company, we
spoke to them on your behalf to help you. Unfortunately, the unit was not
covered under warranty. Our intention was to offer comprehensive support and
potentially reduce the financial burden on the customer. Regarding the concern about our pricing and team
composition: We aim to provide transparent and competitive pricing, reflecting
the complexity and urgency of the work required. I want to clarify that there
was no salesman at your home. The two individuals were a service technician and
his apprentice. The apprentice is in training to become a full-fledged
technician, and their presence is essential for their learning process. We
ensure that all our staff, including apprentices, adhere to the highest standards
of professionalism and service. It is disheartening to hear that the customer's experience
did not meet their expectations. We value this feedback and will use it to
review and improve our service protocols. We
are committed to providing reliable and honest service to our community. If
there are any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact
me.Review fromCarita P

They're not a trustworthy company. They're really out to get your money and not look out for your best interest. I had a part that I replaced in 2020. That part was about $2,000 then. That exact same part 3 years later died again and they are saying now the replacement part is $4,500. They suggested that it's not worth replacing and just to get a whole new furnace. So we set up free estimate for the following day. Meanwhile I went to another heating company and they came and looked at it. They said that the part is actually only $700 and that for him to install it and for the new part it would only be 900 dollars. I was floored. I would never go with this company again and I would strongly tell my friends and family not to go with them as well. Not to mention we've had other problems with them over the years.Auchinachie Plumbing & Heating

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. I understand how the difference in the cost of repairs can be alarming, and the last thing we want is for you to feel that our integrity is in question.
Upon reviewing your situation, it's clear that the significant price change is due to the need for an updated motor and additional parts to ensure compatibility with your 15-year-old unit. The parts we use are specific to the industry standards and guarantees we uphold, which unfortunately can affect pricing.
I want to clarify that while we strive to provide competitive and fair pricing, we also ensure that the parts we provide align with our commitment to quality and long-term performance. This sometimes results in a higher investment, but one that we believe safeguards the efficiency and reliability of your system.
I regret to hear that past experiences have not met your expectations. It's important to us that we address any issues thoroughly and transparently. If there have been oversights, I want to personally ensure they are corrected.
Although we're unable to match the price quoted by another company, I respect your decision to explore other options that you feel are more financially viable. We are dedicated to the satisfaction of our customers, and if there is anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Your patronage is valued, and should you need any services in the future, we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again under better circumstances.Review fromChristopher M

1 starBeware!!! Bought the $109.00 cleaning from Auchinachie.
I was not home only my wife. They scared her by saying the furnace was giving off 17,000ppm of CO2 and had to shut it down, and most likely the heat exchanger was cracked.
They said they would be back the next day with options to finance a new furnace. The heat exchanger would cost $10,000 and a new furnace would only be $12,000.
They didn’t show her any of the testing or measurements, we spent the night with no heat.
The furnace was actually still under warranty, I had the company that installed it come in, they confirmed it was under warranty and would replace any damaged part or replace furnace no charge, a great relief. To all our surprise they could not find anything wrong. The let us watch all the testing and the measurements, explained the parts, and even did a follow up inspection to make sure they covered everything, They expect it will last another 7-10 years.
They turned it back on and it has been running fine. This all cost me another $225.00 out of pocket because of Auchinachie!!!!!! Will never trust Auchinachie with anything again. The furnace company that came to check and tested the furnace did not even believe a meter went to 17000ppm, it would xxxx out or ERR, at about 2500. Ver disappointed that a local company tried something so dishonest, cost me $225.00 an evening of fear and a very upset wife.Review fromTodd M

1 starBeware! They engage in “flat rate billing” but refused to provide criteria for their rate structure. Claim that “flat rate” is transparent. What part of here’s the cost of parts, labor plus taxes is less transparent? Response back was perfunctory and pricing inconsistent between work performed on 2 separate occasions. 1st visit, also sold a “service contract” led to second call. Service contract ended up negligible.. saved $10 off second call but flat rate for 15 min = nearly ½ of the total for the initial 3 hour service call. Seems like a bait & switch operation. No clear response from central office. I will not use them again. Recommend you look elsewhereReview fromlaurie t

1 stari have used this business in the past, 2 years ago i had them replace my central air conditioner unit, and new duct work. when they did the work i was told that heavier materials were being used and the problem was taken care of. when i turned on the ac it would not blow air. i had the business do a service call, that technician told me that i needed a new thermostat and it would cost $450.00. i had my son in law come to replace the thermostat, he has worked hvac for several years. everything tested fine until he went under the home. the new duct work was ruined again, some from cats and other places there were screws that just fell out. auchinachie told me that it was not warrented and they gave me a new estimate for $4700. I paid ten thousand dollars 2 summers ago for the repair. a woman from the company called me to ask me if i was satisfied with the work. i explained my dissapointment and frustration, she told me that she would talk to the manager and would call me the next morning. i have not received a return call, it has been 6 days. i have a 16,000 new central air system and new duct work that is unable to be used. i am a disabled widow and i have been working hard to keep my home, how can you when these companies take advantage of the situation. i hope this company is enjoying their comfortable homes, i have a fan and no money leftReview fromAlan S

2 starsWe requested a quote from Auchinachie for a replacement boiler as ours exceeded 50 years. Their salesman, Rich, came and appeared to be knowledgeable. I told him that I have a primary ground loop geothermal but that it can not handle temperatures below the mid-teens F. I needed a system that could take over and handle all heating for necessary heating. I also informed him that temperatures at this farm have hit -20 degrees F. I have over 70 years experience here.
We paid $5,000 as a deposit and were informed that the project would begin by the last week of October, first week of November. After Veterans Day, two weeks into November, I called to inquire about the hold up. They appeared to be surprised that we were supposed to get a system. An install was scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving. They arrived and pulled the old boiler out. Interestingly, the technicians claimed they needed additional parts and left to get them for 2.5 hours avg both days they were supposed to be installing the new system.
They completed the install by Wednesday of Thanksgiving. I had to provide both technical and physical assistance to install an insert in the chimney, including climbing the roof of my second story to help a third tech since neither of the primary techs seemed interested in helping.
After the job was completed, we used the system primarily for hot water as our geothermal system was operating normally. We did have a small pool of water appear on November 30th, but when we called Rich, he did not seem concerned and told us to keep watch. We have not noted a reoccurence. The Friday prior to Christmas, there was a large storm with very low temperatures. I attempted to run the furnace, but it would not bring the house above mid-60's. Attempts to call Rich early the next morning were unsuccessful and he refused to even consider providing troubleshooting support. It is now Jan 2023 and after 2 scheduled days, still no one has checked the issue.
