Valera Healths careor complete lack thereofwas not only unprofessional but genuinely dangerous. I was abruptly discharged with no warning, no follow-up plan, no refills, and no transition support. I was simply cut off, left to figure things out on my own, despite being on psychiatric medication that requires careful management.Worse still, they abruptly changed my medication without adequate explanation or monitoring, which caused a serious chemical imbalance and destabilized me emotionally and physically. Then, just as suddenly, they stopped the same medication entirelywithout any tapering or supportcausing a severe chemical crash that put me in a frightening and unsafe mental state.I reached out repeatedly for helpby email and by phoneasking for guidance on tapering safely, seeking answers, clarity, and medical advice. I was completely ignored. Not a single response. Not even an acknowledgment. When I brought up issues with the provider I was seeing and asked to be transferred, that request was also ignored. No alternative was offered. I was essentially told to deal with it or leave. When I shared that I was experiencing intense anxiety, it was dismissed as something in my head, as if I were being dramatic or imagining itan incredibly harmful response from any mental health provider.Valera Healths approach to care is, in my experience, careless, dismissive, and incredibly unsafe. They abandoned me during a vulnerable time and left me without the tools or support to manage my mental health responsibly. I would never recommend them to anyone seeking real, compassionate, or even minimally competent mental health care. Please be cautiousyour safety and well-being deserve better.Valera Health, Inc.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are deeply sorry about what you went through with ********************* and lack of communication during such a vulnerable time.
Patient safety and compassionate care are at the core of our mission, and we clearly fell short of the standard you deserved. We take your concerns very seriously and would like the opportunity to understand what happened and work to make this right.
At discharge, patients receive a discharge letter with referral resources. We continue supporting patients for 30 days following discharge for urgent concerns, and medication refills are typically provided during this periodunless there's a serious clinical reason preventing the prescriber from doing so. In such cases, this information is included in the discharge documentation. Medication refills can be requested through the patient portal refills button or via the dedicated Refills email.
We never want a patient to feel dismissed, unsafe, or unsupported, and we regret that this was your experience. Your feedback raises important concerns, and we're committed to reviewing your case thoroughly. If you're willing to share more information, please reach out to our team so we can look into your specific situation and continue improving the patient experience.

I was so happy to finally have found someone for ********************* and Valera just made my mental health situation so much worse. I'd hardly call this a company much less an "organization". They don't answer messages in the patient portal and gods help you if you need to speak to a human being. It took me 2 hours on hold just to find out if my insurance was accepted after my message in the patient portal went unanswered for days. Yesterday I waited on hold for nearly an hour just to cancel my next appointment. They are so bad I've called my credit card company to dispute the $125 I was charged for the prescriber to do LITERALLY NOTHING but tell *me* to give her recommendations to my primary. JOKE. If your doctor recommends Valera, tell them to shove it.Valera Health, Inc.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are truly sorry about the challenges you faced and understand how frustrating this must have been when you needed help with your mental healthcare. We know how important it is to have reliable access to your care team, especially for *********************. We understand how upsetting it must have been to wait for portal responses, spend extended time on hold, and feel that your concerns weren't being addressed promptly. That is not the experience we want for any patient.
Regarding appointment cancellations: we offer multiple ways to cancel appointments more than 48 hours in advancevia the patient portal, scheduling system (Luma), or by phone. Only cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment require a phone call.
Initial appointments are psychiatric assessments to determine if a patient is a good fit for telehealth-based care at our organization. During evaluation, it may become apparent that a different setting, provider, or level of care would better serve the patient's needs. Assessments don't always result in medication prescriptions, especially if additional evaluation, coordination with a primary care provider, or a different level of care is clinically appropriate. For discharged patients, we provide a letter with referral resources and continue supporting them for 30 days for urgent concerns or medication refillsunless clinically contraindicated.
If you're willing to share more information, we'd love to hear from you. Please reach out to our team so we can look into your specific situation and continue improving the patient experience.Review fromAmy L

1 starValera Health's website for video appointments is always having TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES and causes NO SHOWs with appointments. There's no communication within the main company and no way to contact therapists. PATIENT PORTAL is always rejecting passwords.Review fromBill Q

1 starI was on a wait list for 7 months and received 3 automated emails at asking for me to opt back in to remain on the list.I was called by cell phone and I was told if I did not produce a credit card the only available spot at 10AM EST would be in jeopardy of being lost. I loaned my card to my sons nanny and was forced to call back a few hours later. I was able to book and confirm this appointment a few hours later. The time provided to me was not within my preferences that were given 7 months ago. I was ready and able to attend this appointment but it was canceled without warning and it was not rescheduled. I have no missed correspondences from Valera. I left multiple messages and its been > 6 hours during standard business hours and no attempt to reach me has been made.Review fromJoelle S

1 starThis company is incredibly unorganized and in all just awful. For a year I had an amazing therapist and management through them, then my provider left and I was given a new provider. Who was awful and I reached out to ask for a different provider because the appointment stressed me out and she was not a good fit. They denied the change and I had a second appointment with her where she hung up on me. I informed Valera right away, they had me file a grievance. Told me they would get a new provider for me and I would hear from them. Which nothing came after that, no calls, no emails, not one word from Valera after filing Grievance, I reached out about new provider and to ask about why I didnt have an appointment yet or heard anything. They then discharged me instead of ever contacting me about anything! They lied and said I was told I was rude (which never got any kind of complaint the entire time or was spoken too regarding any kind of behavior on my end). I now am without an appointment and they refuse to contact by phone to discuss anything. Absolutely an awful place, I do not recommend anyone use them. They do not care about patients or actually dealing with any wrong doings on their part. They made things ten times worse rather then fix anything.Review fromJean B

1 starI was given an appointment with a therapist on a video call and it was at 5pm which worked out well for me. The therapist asked a lot of questions from some type of list and gave me little time to respond. I was ok with this therapist until I noticed her just "check out" of our session. Just kind of no longer interested. I was told a diagnosis and that she was not going to be my therapist as she didn't have any openings. I honestly felt rejected and rejection is part of my mental health issues. I was given a name of a new therapist. I could never get her on the phone and when she did call me I was at work and unable to answer her calls while at work which I did explain in my initial appointment and also in voicemail and emails to my new therapist after about 2 weeks maybe a little less I was told they are dropping me as they can't match me with a therapist. ( More rejection) and they immediately locked me out of the app. No assistance with possibly another company or person I could speak with as they did diagnosis me with major depressive disorder and anxiety. This whole experience certainly did nothing for my mental health. I guess I am lucky though because reading these reviews I could have been in financial distress as wellReview fromAries L

Beware of this business! THEY DO NOT VET THEIR PROVIDERS. PROVIDERS ARE EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL.Do not attempt to receive services here as dealing with these people will only frustrate you and further exacerbate any mental health conditions that you may already be contending with. I tried TWICE to engage them on 2 separate occasions without success. The 1st time I attempted to receive service, I met with a provider over the app for an initial. It was hard to open up to someone, but I shared very personal things with the person that I thought would be my therapist, only to be told that the person who did my psychosocial history wouldn't be my therapist. To me, it would've made sense for me to do this with the person that I would be working with on an ongoing basis. But to have me discuss very personal things only to be told that someone else would work with me was upsetting. Afterwards, I never received a call from another therapist AT ALL. I called back several times only to be told that they would match me with someone eventually. After waiting 30 days, I received notice that Valera was closing my file and that I would have to do the entire process/ application again. The 2nd time, I referred someone I knew in hopes that they would have a better experience than I did. Fortunately, the person that I referred actually started working with a therapist. But here's where things became unhealthy. After 4 visits, they were told that their therapist was leaving. The therapist disclosed that she was a single mother who was leaving for a higher paying position because Valera wasn't paying her enough. UNPROFESSIONAL.The next visit, this therapist told my friend a TON OF PERSONAL THINGS ABOUT HERSELF. My friend left that particular session feeling confused, conflicted, angry & as if the therapist absorbed the session, taking the focus off the patient. These are feelings that SHOULD NOT be caused by a therapist. Please be careful when working with these people.Valera Health, Inc.

1 starMy previous insurance referred me in the fall of 2022, and the process to get set up with a therapist was pretty seamless. My therapist is also great. However, the customer service outside of that is pretty terrible. Whenever *** had a billing inquiry, previously it was almost exclusively for an online pay link, it goes unanswered until they finally decided to send me a link out of the blue. I managed and always pay when that is sent. They also have my credit card on file, so Im a little confused about that process, but its there if they want to charge it. My problems started when I switched insurance in April. I tried to call billing, left a voicemail sent an email... nothing. Followed up with an email a month later and then two weeks later. They send me this urgent message two weeks after that about a problem and to respond immediately to avoid service disruption. I call the numbers provided, leave a voicemail, and then send an email. NO follow up until nearly 4 business days later and I respond immediately. A day later the woman responds back that they dont take my insurance. And I can only assume shes the one who cancelled my scheduled therapy appointment today because my therapist saw it was someone in billing. So now Im just waiting, for a conversation about why my insurance wasnt accepted even though its a partner listed on their website. A conversation about self pay options. A conversation and solutions. What if I was in a mental health crisis, what if I needed medication refilled. In what world can someone in billing cancel a mental health appointment? At this point, Id call it unethical and deeply disappointing.Review fromKim P

1 starI would leave zero stars if I could. Their customer service is horrible. You call and wait on forever hold and it doesn't matter if you press a button for a callback, leaving your name in the queue, or if you leave a voicemail. Nobody calls back - EVER! In addition, they have my credit card on file and yet every few months I get a bill and I have to call and remind them they already have my billing info. It is so frustrating trying to get mental health care for my child here.Review fromCraig M

1 starI also had my provider go on maternity leave. I was Scheduled with another "Bridge Provider".2 out of 3 Visits with her was horrible, and threatened to leave our appointment. She didnt ask how I was doing, or showed to me at any point that she cared about my Mental Health!I called and filed a complaint with person, explained that she was belligerent, and dismissive. Better yet i can and Email from Valera reprimanding me and that they will not tolerate my behavior!!!I will be filing a complaint with my insurance carrier.
