I had my annual doctors visit on 11/20/25 and was told I had no co-pay because it was my annual visit. Several weeks later they sent me a bill for a $30 co-pay. Their billing department explained it was because I was seen for syncope. I did not want to be seen for syncope. I have had syncope for about 15 years and have seen specialists for it in the past who said to follow up if it occurs more frequently. It has happened once since then so I do not want to seek further evaluation. During my PCP visit I mentioned that it happened once in the past year. She wanted me to follow up with the specialist again and wrote me a referral, even though I said that doctor was not concerned the last time I saw them and I did not want to see the specialist. I also made them aware I was moving to a different state in a month and therefore would not be able to follow up and did not complete her referral.
I also received a separate bill from the lab I did my bloodwork at where I was charged out of pocket for annual bloodwork for "deductible/coinsurance". I asked my insurance company why standard blood work (general health panel, lipid panel, thyroxine, free) for an annual visit was not covered. They said it should be covered and the only reason why it wasn't was because the CPT codes the doctor billed for were "diagnostic" when they should be "preventative". The doctor office is saying they were submitted as preventative the first time and are refusing to further assist me in the matter but my insurance company and the diagnostic center are saying otherwise. I feel like I am being taken advantage of as a patient and am being billed for unnecessary things.

    Physician, P.C. Account No.:  ******Date(s)
    of Service:  11/20/2025  Thank
you for your letter to General Physician, PC on February 14, 2025, relative to ******* *******. The Revenue Cycle Department has reviewed the account and have
    determined the following:In
your inquiry, you requested that General Physician, P.C. review the billing relative
to the following date of service of 11/20/2025. Upon
review and investigation, it was determined that the patient’s account remains
outstanding. The patient was originally seen for her annual wellness visit and
within that visit spoke in depth with the provider about her syncope. There
was further testing ordered related to *******’s syncope following the visit. If
the patient presented for only preventative care they would not be responsible
for the copay, since ******* discussed her syncope at length and required
further testing this is identified as a separate, identifiable problem that
requires additional evaluation or management, therefore was billed as a
problem-focused visit resulting in the her copay.  We
have billed the patient in accordance with all applicable Federal and State
Laws, as well as within the parameters of their contract with their insurance
payor.  We feel the billing to the
    patient is justified.General
Physician, P.C. thanks you for the opportunity to respond to this matter and
address the patient’s concerns. Please reach out to me should you have any
questions or would like to discuss this further. Thank you. Sincerely,Alyssa
