This is the second time within a year I have been without my car for a period of two months or more and still waiting for it to be repaired with no answer as to what's wrong with it. The garage has had my car since August 16, 2024 and I still haven't heard what's wrong with it. I am the only one reaching out and I have no other transportation to work. While making the car payment and Insurance payment and paying to get too and from work from family coworkers in friends. I have fell behind in bills. This happened last year as well in September and I didn't get the car back until late November. The only reason I went back to the garage is because it is the only place that accepts the extended warranty.Business Response

I initially dropped my car off at Eagle Transmission on 8/9/2023 for a transmission repair. I picked it up and paid on 9/8/2023. It was only 1 week later when I was still having issues with the transmission so I dropped it off again on 9/15/2023 to have the issue resolved since I had already paid and the repair work that was performed on the transmission is under warranty for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. I picked up my car once again on 9/22/2023 and was told the car would drive fine as long as the traction control was off. On 9/29/2023 my car once again ceased to accelerate and move forward when in drive. At this point I cannot keep taking it back to Eagle Transmission until I can be guaranteed that the money I have paid to them will be warranted to repair my vehicle so it is in good working condition. I have gotten a second opinion from another mechanic who stated that the only reason that the car does not move when you step on the gas is due to the transmission.Business Response

Sirs, We rebuilt the transmission on Mr. *********** ******** as stated in his complaint and as billed on our invoice. He brought his car back roughly 2 weeks later with a network communication problem caused by the transmission control module. The control module was replaced under warranty at no cost to him. Roughly a week later he called saying his his car would not move. I sent an employee to retrieve his. That employee saw that when the throttle was pressed there was no response from the engine. It went in gear just fine but had no power. The brake warning and traction control warning lights were both illuminated on the dash. The employee turned the traction control off and drove the vehicle to our shop with no issues. I diagnosed the traction control / anti lock brake issue. The magnetic pickup on the right rear wheel has rusted and fallen off. The right rear wheel bearing needs to be replaced. Mr ********* was quoted a price to replace the bearing and said he didn't have the money and would get back to us when he did. He was told that as long as he turned the traction control off the transmission would function normally. The next week I got the same phone call from Mr. ********* his car again "wouldn't move". I went to retrieve the car. This time the low tire pressure warning light was on along with the traction control and abs lights. I removed the fuse from the brake system and again the car drove as designed. Investigating this situation we learned that the abs / traction control system won't turn off with a low tire pressure condition. We filled the tires to the proper pressure and the car was back where it could be driven with the traction control off. This car needs a right rear wheel bearing which has nothing to do with the transmission work performed. I assume in the time that has passed he has had that replaced and his vehicle is functioning fine. If he had let us replace it when it was quoted he wouldn't have had a second problem with the bearing there would be no reason for this complaint or my reply. Sincerely, William D***** Pres. I had my transmission rebuilt and I picked my vehicle up from Eagle Transmission on 7/14/2023, I worked until 6pm, as soon as I pulled out of work the check engine light came on. In 7/15/2023 I went to ******** to have a computer hooked up to my car to see what the issue was. I had a very small evap leak. On 9/5/2023 my steering wheel completely locked, causing me to have a hard time turning the steering wheel. I took my car to a local business to have them see what was going on with it. Upon their investigation they had informed me that my power steering harness was melted into my exhaust. I had Bill at Eagle Transmission go get my vehicle to assess it. Upon the assessment at Eagle Transmission. Bill had let me know that my entire power steering rack needed to be replaced due to a crack. I have spoken to several mechanics regarding this issue. If my power steering rack was needing to be replaced, when my transmission was rebuilt it should’ve been noticed while my car was already being worked on. Bill went on to tell me about the labor. I asked him not to do anything else more but to return the car where it was picked up from.Business Response

Unfortunately neither of these problems were caused by us. The steering worked as designed from 7/14/23 to 9/5/23. There was no reason for us to be looking at the power steering when the transmission was replaced it worked fine. This is a new problem. If by chance this problem was noticed when the transmission was replaced the customer would have had to pay for that repair then as she needs to pay for that repair now. We inspected the wire harness in question, although the outer sheathing was melted there was no damage to any of the wires inside the sheathing. The harness was taped up and correctly supported to avoid contact with the exhaust. When we checked further we found the steering rack itself cracked from rust (photo attached). This allows water to enter the electric motor and its circuitry. That is why the power steering doesn't work. It has nothing to do with replacing the transmission. The evap trouble code was also looked at by us. No leaks were found. We suggested further diagnostics which were not performed. That repair was made at another shop. As far as I know it was not related to the transmission replacement either.
