We had our driveway sealed on 9/26/23 with the agreement that seven of the largest cracks would be sealed. The crew did not seal any cracks. We contacted the office/rep and were told that a crew would be scheduled to come out and fill the cracks (7) in the driveway on 10/5/23. No crew showed to do the work. After another conversation with the rep, we were told that a $50 refund would be issued and we should receive it within a few days. After several days and another call to the rep, we were told that he didn’t write the checks and it would take time. We waited several more days and as of 10/31/23, more than a month after the work was done, we still have not received our refund.Initial Complaint

I had the driveway sealed the driveway sealed 8/31/22…After a mild winter the driveway had considerable areas that were showing not being sealed. I called and they said said they would see what they could do. Two weeks later I called and they said that they would be in the area and would look at the driveway. They did not reseal any part of the driveway and they said they would get back to me. They never called me back. I mentioned that every time I cut the lawn and look at the driveway I feel like I got screwed! I did send pictures and I would like either a refund or for them to reseal the driveway. At least have the courtesy of calling me back. I spoke to Glenn more than once and said that I would rather recommend them than write a letter about their poor service.Business Response

I contracted with Ontario Sealcoating to crack fill and seal my driveway.
I have had this work done several times in the past, but this was my first time using Ontario Sealcoating. The quote for the job was $100 for the sealing and $50 for the crack filling plus tax.
Service scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2023. I got a VM message the day before from Glenn, confirming the appointment, stating the amount, and asking that I leave a check, which I did.
I returned home to some kind of material smeared over a few cracks in my driveway. The vast majority of the cracks were not addressed/filled. The sealer was applied over the cracks and grass and moss growing in many of the cracks. The trimming of the sides of the driveway was very sloppy and the product applied was not the quality I expected.
I called on Monday, July 17 and spoke with Glenn to register my complaints. He said he would check in with his crew when they returned at the end of shift about my complaints and he would get back to me with a fix on Tuesday.
Tuesday, no call back, Wednesday, no call back, Thursday, no call back.
I left a message on Friday, 7/21. Glenn returned the call. I reiterated our conversation of Monday and he proceeded to repeatedly yell at me! He said he ALWAYS tells customers that it is only the 7 largest cracks that get filled. (That statement was never made.) He stated that he NEVER removes grass, moss in driveway cracks, they seal over them. He said he tells EVERY customer that they only trim the driveway edges before sealing. (Information also never stated in any conversation.) Glenn said he would send someone out to give me another quote on the cost to redo the job. He had the audacity to want to charge me again for their unfinished work!
I asked Glenn if he was the owner of the company. He said “no”. I asked him the name of his boss and he hung up the phone on me!
The work was unacceptable and the treatment I received was even worse. I caution anyone else from using this company.Business Response

Good Afternoon,
I have received your letter via postal service. We are sorry you are not happy with the service and service received. The guys did come out and seal the driveway and fill in 7 cracks. Our crack prices are $50 additional for the 7 biggest cracks and $100 per 5 gallon bucket of crack-filler. The guys came out and sealed the driveway for $99 and filled in what the employees felt like is the 7 biggest cracks. If any customer wants more cracks filled in addition to the 7 cracks filled- then they would indeed come out to fill in more for an additional cost. I apologize that this was not communicated properly or clearly by our receptionist. The statement about the moss is in fact true- Line trimming of the edges is listed on the flyer but we do not remove moss in the driveway/ that is not included in the services listed. We have issued a refund in the amount of $50 for the miscommunication in the cracks and an additional $30 for the poor customer service received.

On 7/11/23 we hired this business to come seal our driveway. They came and 2 hours after sealing it, it down poured. We were upset with the results of this and called the company to come and re-do the seal. We were then told we were scheduled to have it re-done on 7/15. They employees came that Saturday and said we already did this driveway and left. No call, no knock on the door, no nothing. I then called back very upset. After many attempts to reach the business, I finally got ahold of Glen who said they didn’t see anything wrong with the driveway. I said they didn’t even look, I have a camera. He said he would look in to it and call me back. I received no call back so I called again multiple times and finally got ahold of Glen again who said oops I forgot to write in the description it was a touch up. I proceeded to send him pictures of what we were upset about and to note the whole seal was very thin from the rain. I was then re-scheduled and told again, they would come on 7/31 and touch up the spots we weren’t happy with. They came today and looked and the driveway, did nothing and left. Again, no knock on the door, no call. So I stood at the end of the driveway waiting for them to come back around. The employee I spoke to said he saw nothing wrong with it and there is no reason to fix it. I am asking for my money back as I am upset with the job done and customer service experience I received. I was told it was going to be fixed and re-done multiple times and they would come and do nothing with no explanation as to why until calling multiple times.Business Response

Good Afternoon,
I am sorry you were not happy with the service provided at your house. The guys came out to seal the driveway and then came out to check on the driveway twice, they could not note the errors as the driveway looked black. The guys came out again and could not see the flaws in the driveway. We have issued a refund in the amount of $100.00 of the $136.00 paid.
