    On July 12, 2021 Empire State Masonry added a step to our front entrance way and replaced three steps at the end of our driveway. The last step of the three is a 36" long landing which has a 2" incline. A normal drop for 36" is 1/2" and when standing on the landing, you can tell it's slanted. I held a level and showed Jeff O***** and he said there's nothing he could do about it now and that I would lose in court. He took $200 off the $3,200 price and I felt that's all I could do, so I accepted that.
    My wife was not happy with the discoloration on both sets of steps, it was blotchy and not uniform and did not look professional. They proceeded to put a skim coat on both sets of steps of some substance they claimed was extra durable. They looked pretty good - for the first year and a half. Then chunks started coming off the edges and the front step is coming apart as well. If you tap on the top coat with your finger, you can feel that is not attached to the base cement. I believe they put the top coat on knowing full well that it would not last.
    I expected a cement step would look good for decades. I did not report the problem within one year because it did not become apparent until 18 months. I called twice (August 1 & 8) and left polite messages, asking if Jeff could come take a look and fix the issue. I got no reply.

    I don't have a specified warranty or guarantee. As I stated in my complaint, it was understood that a cement step would last decades, not months.
