I applied for the gold credit card with them on 7/7/24. They immediately said I needed to send in documentation and sign this military form. I sent my ID, social security card, and the letter they wanted. I called back to see if they received it on the 7/8/24 Monday they claimed they received everything. No answer then notice application cancelled because they needed the items i mentioned. I called again after that notice the lady so no I see it and it is just in queue to be reviewed. I called back in today 7/22/24 because I still have not heard anything and they had me send important information that could be comprimised for the man to tell me they couldnt process it because my id was expired. They said my id expired 6/23/23. I am looking at my driver's licence and it says it was issued 6/23/23 and expires 6/23/2031 because i opted for 8 years. Now they are making me send it again. i only have one id and this same id i just used to purchase my house on 5/11/24 so it is not expired. I feel like they are giving the run around because they said the application will close on 8/7/24. it seems to be something else every time I talk to them.Business Response

On June 17th 2024, citi simplicity credit deposited 2600 to Amex credit card through balance transfer. The money has not reflected in my Amex account. Called Citi, a dispute was opened because it was sent to a wrong account. three weeks later, I received an email stating the dispute has been resolved because it was successfully sent to Amex and I should take it up with Amex. Called American Express and not much is being done to help resolve the issue.Business Response

July 2024, American Express charged a late fee. I always pay my bill on time at the beginning of the month. They set up my billing cycle so that the cycle is at the middle of the month. They do this type of cycle so that any charges after the 1 of the month which is often under $50 get leveraged with a $40 late fee. I have been a loyal American Express customer for 15 years. They know when I pay my bill and often I make more than 1 payment a month. However, they instituted a mid month cycle to enable them to charge fees. This is predatory and abusive in nature. **************** was quite terrible. Not once did they offer any solutions. They were rude and did not try to trouble shoot. American Express also did not try to suggest moving the billing cycle which is an easy fix for them to do so that the cycle meets the needs of a loyal customer. This is how they make money off the backs of loyal customers.Business Response

I was scanned on 06-20-2024. On that day I was looking to rent a car and ****** the Enterprise Rent a Car customer service number. The number I got in ****** was ************** and when I called the number they answer like if it was the Enterprise Company and offered me a special if I bought two gift cards from American Express Card to do the reservation. I bought the cars but immediately after that they called me back saying I needed to buy an additional card. I realized at that point time that I was scammed and call American Express. The person that answer the phone call in Spanish told me that they we going to stop the transaction and the money was going to go back to my card. I called a second time for a status and the other person that answer in English told me that I needed to file a claim. I filed a claim of the scam and I got a response today July 17 that it was declined because I gave them the card information. I'm pretty sure that if I was scammed there were others that were scammed as well and American Express should of done a more thoroughly investigation. I called the American number again and even wrote them an email and they keep repeating the same thing and didn't even bother to return not even a portion when I was scammed $800.00 by this fake merchant.Business Response

On the 18th of June 2024 I presented American Express with a security that I had. American Express ************* then opened up an account in the name of ****************************** with the account number being ***************** as sent in the mail. Then, AMERICAN EXPRESS sent me a letter stating that I was denied for a "FICO" score. I explained to them that I provided them with a collateral security and informed them that they were holding me back from my interest and rights. I sent a letter to CFO ******************************* expressing that I have a part of the interest which is my right for the collateral security that was provided to AMERICAN EXPRESS. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I have been denied my right to be informed as a consumer right. I know that ******** never mentioned a **** credit score to be used in any laws enacted. In fact I know that all debts belong to the *************. This is securities fraud according to the securities act. of 1934, as well as the *** of 1939, and the federal reserve act. I have rights and AMEX is violating my right to incur debt and discharge it, my right to be informed, and my rights as per the Choctaw/Chickasaw treaty of 1866 as stated by the law. This is causing me great hardship and harm at this time. My family has lost trust in me, I am arguing more with my fiance, and it's causing emotional distress to me at this time. When I gave **** my negotiable instrument they benefited from it and I am not receiving any benefit from it as well. There is no equity in this transaction between **** and myself at this time and I am either demanding my collateral security back, or compensation for the use of my collateral security. Please note that **** is currently in default at this time. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. It's as if Amex is gatekeeping me from my rights and breaking the law while doing it. I have read their 8K and 10K forms on file with the SEC and I have a right to claim the interest for my principal. I am the holder of the documents, and they're my negotiable instruments according to the uniform commercial codes as well. What did **** do with my negotiable instrument/security after they received it and opened an account in my principals name?

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:No performance of this account was ever completed I have now filed a lawsuit in federal court in regards to this matter. American Express is committing securities fraud and also breaking the law of equity at the same time. I tried to go through the BBB but it appears as if nothing is going to happen when dealing with the BBB. American Express will have to perform and cant tell me no. I am a living man who presented them with my credits. They in turn opened up an account with my number and refuse to give me access to my account with the unlimited credit that I am entitled too. Honestly, the *** and legal team should be in prison for this fraud. American Express has also violated my right to credit. This is unlawful and illegal both at the same time. Im hoping that this CFO ends up in prison for the securities fraud that he and American Express have conspired to commit. Any further delay with continue to cause me harm. Im owed well over 90 million dollars from American Express according to federal reserve act section 29 civil money penalty. Its my money and I need it now. I honestly dont see the purpose of the BBB or the ***** **e come to both agencies over the years just to realize that yall dont assist us. The **** and BBB are there to assist these companies in stealing our credits and violating our rights.

Hi, my American Express account went into a "review" for the reasons given in the attached letter. I make my payments in a timely fashion. When I have made a call to a phone number provided, none of the reps they put me thru gave me a reasonable explanation other than I have to pay $850 to keep my credit line (which was not high anyway) otherwise it would be reduced, I told them that I was not going to do such a thing. Ok, the credit line was reduced, not worry about that, but my charging privileges were suspended and still is. If is that the way we are going to play it, well, might as well cancel my account all together. Matter of fact I just made a payment which it was due today.ThanksBusiness Response

I received 2 -$100 American Express gift cards. No physical card just printed the papers with the numbers. I have been trying to spend them for 3 months ( approximately received them 5-15-24) I called the info # and activated cards. I tried to put them on my ******* account -didnt work with no name and no billing address. I call gift card help and I told the rep I was having trouble spending them. He walked me through entering them in my Apple wallet - It worked. I tried spending them on my Amazon account and it defaulted to my other credit because it wouldnt work. I went to ****** and tried to buy groceries- no didnt work. Worked with manager and she explained they need a bar code or upc code to scan. She put the numbers in and checked the balance - oh yes there was 100 balance on both. BUT I CANT SPEND IT. American Express claims you can use it at any retailer that accepts ** but the retailer wont take it. Im am finished spending my valuable time and money trying to spend them. I spent $366 in the past week ( 166 at Kroger and 200 in Amazon gift cards) trying to spend the ** gift cards. American Express made out because all of it went on my ** credit card. I have been a credit card customer since 2011 with them. Im so frustrated and want a refund since I already spent the money for them on the ** credit card.Business Response

On 07/09/2024, I was charged $39.00 for a "RETURNED PAYMENT FEE." on my personal loan with American Express.
