A friend and I visited Barnes & Noble ************* location in ******, ******** and absolutely had the worst experience ever. My friend and I received unfair treatment and were racially profiled. Their employees are not very welcoming. This is something I have never in my life experience and let me tell you it did not feel good. I believe the retail industry should have a zero tolerance discrimination policy and should make shopping more inclusive. My friend and the Tysons corner location around noon September 13, 2022. I had just returned some items from Abercrombie and Fitch and thus had an EMPTY reusable **** shopping bag. I believe in shopping bags as opposed to plastic. We started looking at the books advertised on the tables and reading the back and browsing with the intent to PURCHASE a few books each. The Staff member who I assume is the manager started following us around, he was a male (caucasian NOT THAT RACE MATTERS) maybe in his late 30s to maybe mid 40s, everywhere we went to browse he was there hovering or around the corner and giving us dirty looks. It was extremely uncomfortable, unprofessional and insensitive. He was trying to intimidate us, but I decided to be the better person and not say anything because I would of honestly said a handful of things that should not be said, I was enraged. The cherry on top is when he called two security guards and were used to intimidate us and now two security guards were posted inside near us. Ultimately we walked out because I have never been treated unfairly ever in my life. something tells this happens a lot with the untrained staff that they have there, they really need some diversity training to eliminate racial profiling.

I uploaded my book to Barnes and noble (nook press) under their self published category and after having my book approved for distribution and book sale date planned, they dont tell you upon uploading your information that it will take time to approve a vendor account/tax info. Its been 3 months sense Ive got a useful response from them. They dont even have a customer service department so that you can talk to someone. Any number you call goes to a physical store and their own employees literally told me they hate working for Barnes and noble because of how they treat their self published authors. They literally cater to the big all mighty dollar and big publishing companies. After finally getting in contact with someone by email all they did was ask a question I answered a month prior. Then I had wait another month to have a question answered. A month between responses speaks for itself. **** press might respond to this but after I file a lawsuit for their neglect and discrimination against me(email proof) Im sure their start trying to make amends. Ive had to push back my book release several times because of my experience and with these people. I recommend nobody use Barnes and noble and if there were zero stars then I would click it. No wonder ******* *********** and companies like ************* has surpassed these unprofessional companies up. Barnes and noble are taxis and ****** is **** to the book world. At the time of my upload there no disclaimers and no warnings. I sent over 85 emails before a response. Tragic!!!!

Horrible. I ordered two books from Barnes and Noble so that another person and I could have a book club. I was sent an email saying that the other book was delivered, but that mine was stuck somewhere. I contacted the customer service number to find out what was trqspiring. I was told by the customer service representative that my book should have been delivered on the 15th not later than the 16th. I agreed that was true. She added, but it is now the 19th. Again I replied that was true. She told me that she was sending a complaint to the store and asked if I would like the book replaced or would I like a refund. I asked for a replacement because had I rather had the money I would had just kept my money from the start. I was told that they have 5 days after the initial delivery date was scheduled before Barnes and Noble would send a replacement, which would be tomorrow She added. I acknowledged that I understood what was being conveyed to me. She added that a return envelope would be sent so that I could go return the book in the event that it did arrive. I replied that I am very busy. Now not only did I not receive my book in the time frame that Barnes and Noble gave themselves to have it delivered but now if the mistake they made does resolve, now I have to fit remembering and sending a book back using my gas and my time into my already gridlocked schedule, because of a mistake that was made on either the part of Barnes and Noble or the carrier that they chose. How does it make sense that I am being held liable for a mistake made by the company. My part is to make payment for the product. Their part is to make sure that I receive the product and in time. I was told by the customer service agent. "Well that is the policy"I said I am definitely leaving a review about this. She sarcastically assured me she didn't mind. Found out soon later all reviews go TO Barnes and Noble to post or not post?????????how is that an true accurate reflection of service
