I noticed 3 reoccurring charges to my bank account for ***** to **********************. I did not subscribe to this or did so in error. I was charged on February 20th, and subsequently on March and ***** reoccurring monthly dates. I tried to go through the Website's steps to view and cancel, and when I logged in, it showed no current subscriptions and did not allow for cancellation. I tried using the chat feature and it resulted in an automated article and message with no follow up. I also tried calling the customer service number and an automated message spoke and then hung up. I cannot afford this erroneous financial charge and need help.Initial Complaint

We have tried to cancel a recurring monthly charge on my now deceased fathers credit card, but the business will not honor our request. they do not appear to have any live customer service agents, and multiple voice mails requesting this have yielded no action.I would like for them to cancel these charges and refund Jan/Feb/Mar for my dad.Business Response

This online subscription auto renewed on 6/19 and I was not given any advance notice of the renewal or amount. I wished to cancel this upon the renewal notice and was told there are no refunds and Ill receive access for the rest of the year that I had just paid for. I do not want this service and want a refund. I thought companies had to alert you of upcoming auto renewals and find their practices shadyCustomer Answer

Wont cancel and refund. I had a free trial from Business Insider in 2022. I was not able to find a cancelation link on the site, but I found a working number and told them to cancel my account. Since then Ive been charged multiple times. I requested a cancelation and refund a few weeks ago. I was told they will cancel and refund only 6 months. Afterwards PayPal told me that they still have an active contract with me and Business Insider is not responding. This feels like a scam.Initial Complaint

Business Insider continues to charge my credit card $99 each year without providing former customers any real means to contact them to cancel subscriptions. In 2022, I worked for a company where my work required access to BI news clips. I used that work email address to sign up for the subscription, but I left the company in December 2022. My January **** **************** statement showed a $99 charge for "Business Insider 'PRIME'" that was made on Nov. 30, 2023. When I inquired to Amex about the charge, they shared the merchant details they had--this was an annual fee that looked to be attached to an email for my former employer (***********). They gave me three phone numbers, in addition to the one phone number I had for Business Insider, to help me try to resolve my issue. I tried calling all four numbers--multiple times and was never able to connect with an actual person--and no one from BI has attempted to return my call or the email I submitted to their **************************************** requesting cancellation. Making it impossible for paying customers to cancel their services is criminal. I'm starting with BBB-NY after failed attempts to resolve through my credit card company and with BI directly. My next course of action is to file a formal complaint with the ********************************** The phone numbers I have for Business Insider are as follows: ************ (pre-recorded message admitting to being unmanned); ************ (main HQ # that redirects callers to try the extension of the person they're trying to reach); ************ (a perpetual busy signal); ************ (never connects to a dial tone/actual call).Business Response

Hello. I recently learned that BusinessInsider is freely using my stolen intellectual property (and that of millions of others) as a business asset via "ChatGPT," an artificial intelligence tool. This tool was made by OpenAI, a company that is violating intellectual property rights on a nationwide (and global) scale. OpenAI (OpenAI.com) provides software named ChatGPT, which is software that generates text as though a human created it. The tool was built with data from a conglomerate of stolen copyrighted articles, internet posts, web pages, and books scraped from 60 million domains (including mine) over a period of 12 years and more. TechCrunch reports this data includes copyrighted material from **** The New *********** Reddit, the full text of online books, and more.Anyone who ever published anything on the Internet anywhere, therefore, has had pieces of their content illegally collected, distributed, and sold to people using this tool. Further, the ************* **************** recently ruled that non-human expression is ineligible for copyright protection. So for those who wish to simply copy and paste the results of this tool, this new ruling means everything they create with it becomes public domain material. The company is basically taking copyrighted material and putting it into the public domain, stripping their rights away, and making millions from people who never see a dime from it.OpenAI additionally serves a global audience. That means the company is selling ******** intellectual property and citizen PII to foreigners and foreign governments. I would like to see a written commitment here, on the BBB website, from you, that you will immediately intervene the use of this software in your institution, as it infringes on my intellectual property rights as a writer and privacy rights as an ********.Business Response

Thanks for your message. I understand you are alleging that Insider, through its use of ChatGPT, "is freely using [your] stolen intellectual property (and that of millions of others) as a business asset." As the ************* noted in ***** Publications ** *********************** Co., ************ (****), To establish infringement, two elements must be proven: (1) ownership of a valid copyright, and (2) copying of constituent elements of the work that are original. Id. at 361. You have neither identified, with any particularity, content that you claim to own, nor pointed to instances of Insider copying constituent elements of such content that are original. If you would like to provide further information, we will consider it. To be clear, Insider denies your allegations and has policies in place to ensure the responsible and limited use of ChatGPT.

I made a temporary subscription using my work email address. I canceled the subscription, but after several months realized they are still charging me. I cannot recover the account due to the expired email address since I no longer work for that company. They have no customer or subscription services to resolve the problem. It leaves me no choice, but to cancel my card. They charged me money after I cancelled and provide no easy solutions or solutions period to resolver the problem.Business Response
