  I was very disappointed in the way SmarTours closed their business. I had a fully paid trip for April and on January 31st received a morming e-mail telling me to check the "Before you Leave" site to be sure I have everything. At 6 p.m. that evening I received an e-mail saying the company had closed for business. The website and phones were inoperable. An e-mail gave a vague set of directions to contact various agencies to get possible refunds. The first turned me down because "business closure" was not a reason for cancelling a trip!! I'm on my second complicated agency for refunds. All very disappointing from a company that I had used before and that had a A+ rating.

  I have traveled with smarTours ******* times and have never been disappointed. They have excellent, knowledgeable tour guides and safe, professional drivers, stay in quality hotels and have great Excursions.smarTours provides the most bang for your buck! I have already scheduled my next trip with them!

  In March 2023 we took a SmarTours package to *******. I was a little afraid to travel there, but my husband was super excited to go. Now I look back at my fear as naivety, because I absolutely fell in love with ******* and its people.Our guide was named ****** and he shared so much about the lives of his people and their rich history. We traveled in comfort and stayed in amazing hotels in six different cities. We went on daily adventures that I never knew were possible. This was not what I call a "vacation", but rather "educational traveling". Every day I learned...every day I experienced this exciting country and culture...and best of all...every day I smiled.Our first adventure with SmarTours was to ****. That adventure got ** hooked on this company, because we realized how much of the world, we knew nothing of, but could learn about with SmarTours.Live for today...because tomorrow is not promised

  We have taken three tours with SmarTours. ** April 2023, we took Wonders of ******. Yes, the magnificent pyramids show the wonders of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. There is lot to see by just walking around in ***********, ******, **************.Our young tour director ******************* was like a family member, and very knowledgeable of the local and world history and archaeology.SmarTours is very reasonably priced for what they offer and show.We look forward to touring with them in the near future.

  This was my first trip with Smart Tours, and it was pleasant. The small group size helped; most group tours tend to leave you feeling herded like cattle. Our guide was on top of all logistical things and also wrangled the group well, however I felt her narrative was a bit heavy on the religious history of the area as if it applied to current day society, with not much covered in other subject areas or current issues. What wouldve made this an excellent tour wouldve been more planning for the moment. Rainy/fog days for example. One day we spent many hours driving along the coast in the rain and fog for a view that was completely obscured. We had just left a town that had many things we didnt get to see, so being rushed away to sit on the bus for hours with zero visibility was disappointing.Also, I think there should be a chart or graph that shows the level of activity required, including minimum miles walked per day. As a group, everyone should be able to keep about the same pace. We walked very slowly and had to stop many times for a few in our group. The pace was set by the slowest (as it should be) but this is frustrating for everyone. Otherwise, the bus and hotels were comfortable and clean, and I would recommend this tour company to my friends and family.

  This was my first trip with SmarTours, very impressed and totally loved it. Everything went off without a hitch, our guide from start to finish was extremely helpful. It was a perfect time to go to *****. Will definitely be taking more SmarTours trips in the future. Maybe ******* next, so glad I found this company.

  Before I started this, I scanned down to see what others said and noticed words were taken out about where they went or who the leader was. So I will be generic. I would have to say overall the trip exceeded my expectations. We did have great weather overall and the tour was fairly organized. The only thing that surprised me was how long it took to go from one place to another by bus on the same day, mostly taking an hour to an hour and a half to get from one stop to the next. Certain days were jampacked with activities where others were a little more leisurely. For myself, I didnt mind because it gave me a chance to rest between stops as there was a lot of walking and standing, climbing up hills and steps. None of these things would dissuade me from going on another trip as I think the value for the money was reasonable. Certainly going on a cruise is much easier as you can come back to the same room every night rather than staying in a number of hotels during the week. But thankfully we did not have to deal with ***** issues as others had, the timing was right for us. I would hate to have to worry about canceling and trying to get a refund! On the negative side, the tour description does not stress enough about the level of activity each day which could be hard for some that have a hard time getting around.
