      NBT bank provides such a tight ‘security‘ policy that I cannot use my money, at all. Whether you travel abroad, or within the US – as soon as you are over 500 ft away from your bank branch, your card gets blocked, and good luck unblocking it!
      In 6 years of being their customer, I have lost over $200 in various fees, fines, interests and other extra expenses due to inability to use my own money that I have thoughtlessly keep in NBT bank.
      Avoid this mistake! Life is too short to waste it on the phone with their highly incompetent customer ‘service’.

      This is the worst company I have ever delt with. The website is terrible to navigate and when you call customer service you sit on hold for far longer then is acceptable.
      Once you finally get someone on the phone, they instantly hide behind the fact that they just hold the loan and they don't, won't, and can't help you with any problems that may arise. Nicole specifically told me that my problem wasn't one that they would fix or work with me on, that I needed to go back to the ones who installed my product and confront them about about lied to about my loan options. Not only that, Nicole cut me off on more then one occasion to defend the company that just holds the loan and is demanding payment. Very disappointed and will be looking to move my loan elsewhere with better customer service.

      I love the Latham NY Branch. Everyone there are kind and helpful. They go out of their way to provide excellent service. Stacy, Emily, Karen and the manager are extremely helpful. I would give them a raving review at all times ,I have dealt with them.

      My husband & I recieved credit card offers thru NBT bank. Upon receiving preapproval we decided to transfer small balances on both our cards from another credit card. He did his early April. I did mine the following week. We were both approved the 18 month balance transfer. We both have 800 plus credit ratings. Once several days passed a letter via mail confirmed the credit cards would be paid. The banks name & all account info. So we called NBT as well as our bank & was told it was not paid. Called NBT back was told it would occur within 12 days. My husband called the customer service again. We were then told because both cards came in my name only he could be added as co owner. We couldn't understand how we had 2 seperate offers in both our names, recieved letters each by mail stating it was approved & would be paid off. Then on the phone again 1hr & 20 minutes. Spoke with 4 people, the 3rd person placed us on hold 45 minutes without coming back to say please continue to hold. He was nice but stated he'd speak with his supervisor, still waiting. We were then told to call an 800# to reapply stated my husbands info needed to be resubmitted by an underwriter. Not sure about mine. Another person came on the last minute call Amber, she was rude, loud, unprofessional & inpatient. She didn't slow down nor listen. She then told us we needed to go thru an underwriter to reapply. She gave us an #800 to call. Our credit is stellar mine 829. My husbands is also 800 plus. I emailed the company. And submitted a review. I saw a lot of bad ratings after the fact. We are close to the expiration dates of our old balance transfers June 2023. But now have taken a credit hit for a card we can not use. So we'll have to get another balance transfer & take another hard inquiry. With another company. This is not fair, not professional & we are not pleased. Bad banking practices. Now I see why the ratings overall are 1.9 stars out of 5.

      Was given a card with a BAD Chip. Locked out by 2 NBT Bank ATMs. Also had card refused when trying to purchase groceries. 800 phone number & Web Site told me I had to wait until Monday during normal hours. Meanwhile I could not get any cash or use my NBT Card for the whole weekend.
      On Monday I was told "Oh yes we got some BAD cards, with bad chips etc. Not to Worry."
      Looking to move to other bank when I can change Auto. Deposits & Auto Payments. A Big Complicated Mess.
      Beware!!

      I believe they’re stealing money from my account. I’ve been noticing my balance going down even when I’m not making purchases. Also, when I’ve gone to the branch on south Salina st in Syracuse ny, the bank teller has “lost” my money behind the counter somehow on multiple occasions. She blames the machine & says my money maybe got stuck inside? It’s fraud

      WORST BANK EVER!!!! They don't help they make things harder. They customer service is worthless. They can't even get their hold times right. I was told 2 minutes... I was on hold for 10 minutes and counting. 6 yrs I wasted with these people.
