I own a business by the name of **** ************ and have been doing my payroll with a subsidiary of Payxhex Inc for years. In around July, I was told that ********* will no longer be doing payroll and that all clients from ********* would be switched over to Paychex. But now, They have lost all my records for one of my locations and are not doing anything about it. I have spent days on the phone with them and they just keep wasting my time with no end to it. The person that originally switched my account By the name of Dennis W**** is refusing to help telling me that he is working for another department. The person in charge of my account by the name of Liberty A***** in missing in action as well. I will also file a case with CA attorney General

I hired Paychex Inc to do payroll for my small business. Their responsibilities were to: Calculate taxes, withhold the taxes, pay the taxes to the appropriate entities, and direct deposit the employee paychecks into their accounts. They have not filed and or paid the State unemployment and the State Industrial insurance when they were due. They missed Q1 and Q2, and have still not fixed this. I reached out to them when I first found out in June of 2023. They have still not paid these, and these accounts are acruing penalties and interest.

We purchased healthcare through Paychex to have ********. They breached our contract by not deducting healthcare for our employees. On the first month we brought it to their attention and they assured us they would take the deductions as agreed upon in our contract. The following month and neglected to do so. After they made the mistake twice, they did not answer calls/emails from us to resolve the problem. After consulting an attorney to make sure our cancellation was legally justified, we terminated our contract with them for "breach of contract". Attached is an email from Paychex in writing admitting fault and confirming no cancellation fees. They have turned us in now to collections, they have harassed us by mail and email, they have continuously attempted to debit our account without permission to the point we had to contact *******'s bank for fraudulent charges. We have reached out and asked them to cease and desist all contact or attempts to debut our bank account. Please advise.

I recently started using Paychex for their payroll service. Last month, I asked them to document the income I had earned from earlier in the year for tax purposes. Instead, without my permission, their “payroll specialist” overdrafted my account and sent a large withholding payment to the IRS. Now they are attempting to collect this overpayment that they made in error from my business. Despite admitting that this was Paychex mistake, they are now involving their legal team, and gave me 48 hours to sign a document demanding that my company pay Paychex back. They are threatening to take me to collections if I don’t sign their document. I am a busy cardiologist just starting up my own practice and don’t have the time or financial and legal resources to fight them, especially with so little notice, so they are essentially trying to intimidate and threaten me into signing. I have explained the situation 4 or 5 times to a woman who states that she is the supervisor, and tried to do everything I could to work with this company in a non-hostile way to resolve the situation, but they have been completely inflexible, uncaring, and unsympathetic throughout this process. It’s amazing that despite admitting they made this mistake, they are so fixated on pinning the financial responsibility on myself and my company.

I would never recommend this company for payroll services. They have created an incredible mess for my new business, but won’t take responsibility to fix the problems they have created.

I signed up for Paychex Payroll services and selected, and paid for the whole package which included payroll processing, tax payments and preparation. I sumbitted the required documents and the company (Paychex) failed to collect or make the timely payments to the State of California. When I noticed the mistake, Paychex told me the amounts were not collected and I needed to pay them 32,000.00 so they payment could be made to the state. I made that payment and then had the State of California confiscate ~$8100.00 in late fees and pentalties. Paychex said they are not responsible for these late fees and pentalties. All documents from them and signed by me state they are responsible for collecting and paying the state of california.

******** ***** ********* ****** had been doing business with Paychex prior to disaffiliation with the **** **** ****** ********* ********** ** ***** ****** ********* *****h. As of July 1st the disaffiliation was completed. We opted to continue with Paychex and made our intentions know. We were to be contacted before July 1st regarding setting up the employees for direct deposit. After leaving several messages we were finally contacted. Our employees received their pay by the end of July for the entire month. Paychex withdrew $417.75 (no explanation) July 31st. I haven't been able to get this issue resolved. I've worked with at least 5 different people. The initial quote I received was in March (trying to get all our ducks in the row). For 2 months I have left voice messages and emails with no response. I call back to speak with the representative for our account and am told she'll have someone check into. I've even left message with her manager as well as an email with all the information and concerns. Again, nothing. We pay a semi monthly fee of $21.54. There is a $55 handling fee for the year. Currently we have been charged $417.75 plus $58.00 8/10 plus $76.85 8/15. Additional we were going to be charged semi monthly for copies of our transactions which we didn't request because we can get the information online.

I had paycheck as my payroll provider for multiple years. We decided to cancel our service in August 2023. We filed all the paperwork to cancel the service.

      They cancelled the service.

After cancelling I get charged $55.10/monthly fee for this service 2 times in August 29, so the only fair charge would be 1 x $55.10 and not 2x $55,10

I have been attempting to cancel terminate and transfer my 401K plan from paychex to another provider, because they were over billing my account for multiple years, and they had numerous unethical and unprofessional practices.

I have been attempting on and off to terminate for over two years at this point. Each time I call and speak with a representative, I am either placed on what I am told is a brief hold to gather the information I am requesting, but end up being placed on an indefinite hold ( I eventually hang up once it reached 1 - 1.5 hr).

I finally got through and they agreed to send me the termination documents, it took multiple attempt to even get them. Each time I was told there was some type of glitch in their system which is why I never received them.

When I was finally able to send in the completed documents, I was told it would take about 10 - 20 days to process. Once they were processed, I would attempt to transfer the funds, but I would be told that I could not do so, because I had to make a payment as I entered a new billing cycle. I would make the payment, however, the paperwork had o be resubmitted. This cycle continued to repeat.

Most recently, I called on last Friday and was told I would be emailed the termination documents in two days and they would take up yo 70 days to process. I never received the paperwork. I called again today, and was told that my email flagged as a security risk. The representative informed that my account had actually been terminated and that it was ready to transfer. However when guided to my online account to do so, the option was not there. I was placed on hold to be connected to someone for technical service and after 40 minutes was told the "lines" got crossed and was connected to the wrong department. Was placed on hold again for 30 minutes only to be told no one would answer. Now they are supposedly sending me documents so that I can transfer the funds through a manual request.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  Their response was a bit lacking in detail to the actual nature of the situation; They had sent an email that the plan had been terminated, however, the option to transfer the account was not accessible through my online account. Furthermore, when I called in to inquire about it, I instructed to go through the termination process again as if the account had been terminated. Nevertheless, once the BBB became involved, it seemed to be an effortless process, and the matter has been resolved. I appreciate you stepping in and getting this matter resolved quickly.

      Regards,

      ***** *********

      Paychex Client ID: ******** -

I am a widow. I had a job last year and hired my son to do the job. In December 2022, I contacted Paychex to help with the December 2022 payroll taxes of the fourth quarter. The payroll was $6500 net for my son. The federal payroll tax was $1076.88, and NYS payroll tax was $147.80. In addition, Paychex charged $123.11 fee. The total withdrawal from my account should be $7847.79.

However, Paychex withdrew a total of $8985.12 with an overdrawing of $1137.33.
The mistake came from filing 940X and NYS-45X. When the specialist realized she had miscalculated NYS payroll tax, she submitted a request to Paychex X-form department. Instead of charging the difference of $22, the X-form department withdrew the entire Federal and NYS payroll taxes again from my bank account.

I wrote dozens of emails to Paychex and called numerous times. The specialist promised to refund the overcharged fund. However, nothing happened so far after eight months. $1137.33 is a lot of money for me. I would appreciate it if BBB could help me get a refund from Paychex.
