This hospital group provides bare minimum services, with staff actively attempting to discharge patients as quickly as possible to free up hospital beds to make more money. They care little for patient health and attempt to sell you services that are not all necessary. It is wise to seek a second medical opinion or even better go to NYU Langone Hospital in the city if possible.Nurses especially are the most likely to attempt to cut corners and/or try to ship out the patient (i heard a nurse call the patient a problem)

The only reason it's a training hospital is because they try to kill all of us patients!! I don't know why they're in business because they don't listen to anyone unless they want to kill us. Unless you're really family or a very good friend of a doctor and Staten Island university hospital you will not be taking care of properly. Most people have to go off I'll just be seen by a doctor or a hospital because honestly there is not one decent hospital on Staten Island. The level of care is not recognizable as care. If you're on a low sodium a low sugar diet don't even bother eating because they give you a buoy on cube and I have a cup of water. You ask to speak to a doctor and the nurse comes back and says the doctor put you on this without the doctor even looking at you or even talking to you. How the medical board of ******** could actually give them a license is beyond me.

The staff and ******* care physicians/PAs are nice enough it just seems as if they want to get your visit over with in 5 minutes. You always have to be your own best advocate-outspoken and insistent when you feel youre not getting what you need if that isnt a psychological issue for youwhich it is for me. I was taught to respect the doctor and I have taken it to the point where I never disagree with my doctor nor could I complain that Im not getting my concerns addressed. I have acute swelling in my lower extremities and I am short of breath. I also have high ** and another serious condition. While I am prescribed meds for the ** and other condition, the swelling which is sometimes accompanied by ulceration of the calves and ankles, is nit given any serious consideration at all. I was prescribed a diuretic which does not help. My recent visit was not just a checkup-I made the appointment because I am having trouble walking now. The doctor, as lovely and charming as he is, did not even roll up my pant leg and look. The intern(its a teaching hospital, so I assume she was either a student or intern) was alarmed when SHE looked but the doctor glossed right over her concern. Its not just this doctor. The one before him- she was a PA I discovered 2years after starting with her - was a wonderful lady. She was a bit scatter-brained but competent, Im sure-examined my legs and other symptoms associated with the swelling, on numerous occasions but did nothing. She didnt even venture a GUESS as to what it could be! I made the suggestion that it could be my heart and perhaps i would benefit from an ekg. She agreed and then wrote a referral. It appears that is the only thing these doctors at this hospital want to do; theyll write a dozen referrals if you wish. I wonder if they or the hospital, profit from referrals. I dont know much about how these things work and I couldnt find anything online.

I brought my wife over to the Emergency Room at 3am due to severe head pain.We were triaged quickly, and were told we would be given a spot in a room in ************ The triage nurse even made a comment about the area being empty and we would not have to sit in a chair in the hallway. Great! My wife mentioned to the nurse that she had seen a neurologist recently, and was prescribed some new medication, but was feeling light headed and explained that her pain was at a 10.The *** walked us over and as the nurse mentioned, it was in fact pretty empty. We waited and waited..There was absolutely no sense of urgency and no concern, The nurse did not once come into the room to even pardon her absence, not a single word from anybody. My wife laid in the bed in pain, unknowingly what was going on in her head or body being that she mentioned she was on a new medication and there were no cause of concern. I am very familiar with the lack of concern and urgency that the overnight nurses carry.Of course I gave the opportunity and figured the area may be short *****ed until I left the urgent care and saw the *** on shift sleeping at the computer desk hovering over the keyboard and our assigned nurse fixing her lashes and on her cell phone at the nurses station. It is a major disappointment that this bad taste is put into patient's mouths when they are supposed to feel safe and secure, cared for and not treated as a BOTHER forced to go to another care center Reevaluate your ***** because 70% of the ED ***** does NOT care.
