I paid AVA Roofing approximately $30,000 for a new roof, but got one headache after another. On 8/6/24, I called AVA because my roof was leaking, and they were contracted to put a new roof on my house in November of 2023. First, I sent a text message on 8/5/24 to one of the owners (Tony) - but no response. The next day I called the company.

When I called, I asked to speak to Tony. The receptionist, Natalia, said that Tony was out of town and Sergio was in charge. After I explained that my roof was leaking, Natalia stated that Sergio was in a meeting and would call me back. Later that afternoon, the manager, Russ called me back. I again explained to Russ that my roof was leaking, and they had just replaced my roof back in November. Russ stated that he will have someone call me when he looks at the schedule. I asked when that would be. Russ said that he did not know when because he’s got other projects going on.

Russ called back later that afternoon and said he had spoken to the owner Tony. Per Tony, he would be back in town on the 12th and would contact me when he got home. After reiterating that I needed assistance sooner than that, Russ said that Tony is the owner and I am telling you what he said.

      Here are my issues:
The company rushed my job, which means they missed things that would cause future problems.
      1. Roof leaking because the pipe boot was never sealed properly around the vent.
      2. Issues with the flashing.
      3. Gutters weren’t properly put back in place, so water is leaking into my basement.
      4. Shingles are falling off the roof.
      5. Water damage in my attic so paint is bubbling.
      6. Water falling from the ceiling downstairs.

Let me understand this right, you paid AVA $28,991.06 that should have been $35,403 that's not including all the free work we have done for you at no cost. Yes please tell us where exactly is your problem with the roof ? You voided you warranty by not paying your bill so you have no right to even send a complaint but you took the time to create all these lies all over social media platforms and you still want a refund ? This is ridiculous. We did everything on the roof and the flat roof, all other issues were not roof related. Please stop with this none sense.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I only want to deal with the facts. Fact #1 My roof is leaking in two places Fact # 2 You installed the wrong shingles on my roof and ignored my requests to deal with it. You are legally obligated to complete the work before payment is issued. Fact # 3 I’m going to have to pay another company to address these issues

      Regards,

******** called BBB and said that the job was completed but the consumer had not paid for much of the work that was done which was not part of the contract.  There was some wind damage which the business was willing to help with, but the consumer remained dissatisfied. In the contract from AVA if there are winds over 70 mph, it is not covered by the warranty.

On August 10th AVA roofing replaced my roof, including new drip edge. I'm not sure if it happened when they installed the drip edge or when they removed it (wife saw gutters bending away from house when they removed the last bit on demo day) However at some point the seal between the gutters and the fascia board is broken and now leaks water. I had to pay to have these sealed after siding was installed a year prior and had no issues until the roof was installed. They did send someone out twice the 1st time the guy made a valiant effort unfortunately he didn't seal it all and it turns out they still leak. I have contacted the business, and they now say it is not their responsibility. How is this? I get water in my basement when there is leaking from the gutters. Gutters are meant to direct the water away from the house and you more than likely broke the seal on demo or install. I will be pursuing this matter further if there is no action from the company. 18K should not give you water problems, or any new problems that weren't there prior to them doing the work.

We have replaced the roof but we did not do anything with the gutters or the leaf guards. We checked the photos and there was no evidence of caulking the gutters. We will caulk the gutters/leaf guards to the back of the gutter per homeowner request. We will not take any liability after the caulking is done.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I also have spoken with AVA directly and  was told that, they would call me to setup a time and date. This has not happened yet. So I am happy with their resolution,  so long as the repairs are done.
