I brought my car in on the 8th of August knowing the fact that I would need to get a new transmission. I didn’t receive any updates unless I called them in which it was like playing tag on the phone trying to reach someone. On the 13th I was told someone from the warranty company would be coming out to inspect my car to see if it was covered or not. Still no one called to update me so on the 15th I called and they said that someone had came out to inspect my car and they were waiting on the approval. I heard nothing for a week after. On the 22nd I called and was told that no one from the warranty company reached out and that I had to call to see if I was approved or not. After calling the warranty company I was told that it was approved on the 15th and that they sent an email off to Kia stating that. I called Kia back and they stated they never received anything and that they called the warranty company and no one answered. Finally on the 24th Kia had got yet another email approving me for my transmission in which they called me to let me know they still had to order the part. They then said it would be another 2 weeks before I would have my car. After waiting yet another 2 weeks for my car they finally called and said it was all set to pick up. I went and picked it up and no more then got out of the parking lot and noticed my car was pulling to the right and my steering wheel was turned completely to the left. I brought it right back to them which meant another day without my car. Finally on the 5th of September they called me again and said that the steering column wasn’t lined up right and that they fixed to problem. Not only did someone test drive my car after replacing the transmission but they didn’t realize the wheel was completely turned is outrageous. Kia was very unprofessional and when asked how no one noticed the steering wheel I was told that they weren’t looking for anything like that but just at the dash to make sure no lights were on.

I had the worst experience with Matthews Hyundai. My brothers car was stolen right out of their parking lot and they wont take responsibility at all. Its a horrible company. They lie and then not return or answer calls. They called me 8 days after it was stolen from their lot and wouldn't even get it out of the city impound. It cost me 800 to get it out and then Matthews would not buy it back (which was the arrangement made before the theft!) They are not truthful and I will tell everyone I know to NEVER do business with them. If I could I wouldn't even give them 1 star!!

I made an appt for a 2011 KIA upgrade/fixes at this dealership 4 weeks prior to my visit. My car was recently inspected and passed. I told them that I wanted no other work done on the car other than the prescheduled fixes/upgrades. I received a call a few hours later saying that my brakes were shot and it would cost $6000 to repair them. They said I should not drive the vehicle due to bad brakes, but the brakes were fine when I drove there, and I had noticed no issues that morning driving to the appt. The technician also wrote that he thought the brakes were light and mushy, but they felt fine to me when I drove there, and I assumed they were in the same condition when I went to drive home, but the brakes were so bad that I almost got in an accident leaving the parking lot. I went back into the building rather upset and asked what was up with my brakes. They wanted me to believe that they just gave out right after it went in for service. Right....
It is apparent that the mechanic did something to make my brakes defective and flat out dangerous. I was confronted with the choice of an $6000 repair job or getting a tow truck. I ended up driving the vehicle home very very slowly and with extreme caution, and had a tow truck pick it up this morning for service at another auto shop. Stay away from this place if you are getting your car serviced. They absolutely tried to take me to the cleaners. If my brakes were in bad shape, I should have been informed prior to anything being done. What he did was make my brakes go from working fine to extremely dangerous.

The worst. They lie, blame others, deny their mistake, and when they finally admit they made a huge mistake that could destroy my credit the response was “ mistakes happen”. They were given two weeks after I brought the mistake ( they never did the paperwork stating I returned my lease after it had been 3 1/2 months ) and they still did nothing. The receptionist hung up on me, told me “ the manager doesn’t have a phone in their office and everyone else was too busy to talk” . This is still going on 4 months later and I finally spoke with a manager ( that is who said “ mistakes happen”) and who said “ In a few weeks this SHOULD be taken care of” !!! Stay far away from the incompetence and the “ oh well” attitude here.

Beware! The worst service department I've ever dealt with and I've been driving for 60 years!! Do NOT ever use Matthews Kia of Schenectady. They "fixed" my car this last time and had the audacity to release it back to me and it was worse than when I brought it in. This last repair is now the third time in the repair shop. How disgraceful that they release a car without thoroughly testing it. When you make an appointment for a simple oil change it takes 5 hours. Really??? I went to Midas for my next oil change and was out of there in less than one hour. Everytime I bring my car in for service it is a two day affair. Even if it is for tire rotation. I don't know how they stay in business. Everytime I bring my car in for service yet another new person is behind the counter. I had been doing business with that car dealership for over 10 years when it was Fucillo and two years ago it became Matthews and it's been nothing but headaches. Beware!!

Worse dealership ever. All the have is excuses after excuses. I see the comments and see that the dealership always has a positive response. The fact is this, because of a poor credit raring. They can never be BBB accredited. That's a huge statement right there. My husband, for beliefs beyond me, continuously takes his vehicle back there and always told they can't replicate the problem. First vehicle, 2021 *** ********, the transmission kept slipping. Swapped out for a *****, older age and higher miles, of course. ****** showed an accident but, no details. Now took it to a reputable mechanic who says hood isn't aligned and, backlog (oil residue) on windshield, and oil along upper ledge of radiator, oil disappearing somehow, but can't replicate the problem. It's not a problem to replicate, it's a problem of where is oil disappearing to. Also upon swapping to a different vehicle, a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty was not transferred as they said "we used it for the down payment towards vehicle". The vehicle cost less than original vehicle, by thousands, was a year older and higher mileage but lost bumper to bumper. Makes no sense at all. My thoughts - RUN, run away in opposite direction as fast as you can. Advised my husband to make complaint to BBB regarding all of this and see if lemon law applies to his situation. Of course, I will expect an unwarranted comment from Matthew's, but all know the truth.

Accounting/billing department did not credit my account for cancelled service. Service was cancelled by me in october 2023. General
Manager told me they would credit my account. It never happened.

Went to Matthew’s *** of Schenectady on 09/27/2023 because of a (canister) recall. There was no charge for the service due to it being a recall.
I had to change out my license plates because they were peeling so when I went in I asked the tech if they could take the screw off because it had rusted and was hard to take off. He said he’ll see what they could do.
Once the tech got the answer he then comes back and informs me that it will cost between $320 -$380. Labor fees are $163.95/ hr. He then proceeds to tell me that they’ll have to take off the trunk cover in which will take no more than 10 minutes because they literally pop out.
It seems as if they’re charging me for the labor of the recall and for taking out a screw. I knew it was going to cost something but not that much. That’s a car note and a tank of gas. THAT’S RIDICULOUS FOR A SCREW.

Today I took my car in for a NYS inspection.
I realize they are not obligated to top off fluids? However they told me if needed they do. They did not the car looks like it hasn’t been touched. And there is no new sticker saying they did an inspection or giving me a return date. The information stated the charge for inspection was $10, However they charged me $21. They are not honest about there business.

I would be careful getting your new vehicle serviced here. I bought a brand new *** ******** from them and wanted to get it undercoated. Instead of doing it before delivering the vehicle I had to return a week later and leave them the car for a day. Upon receiving my vehicle back after 5:45PM, I noticed my wheels and wheel wells were coated in mud, when I opened the door there was also mud across the bottom of the interior door panel, since their service department had already mostly cleared out since they close at 6, I figured I'd just wipe it down when I get home. When I got home and wiped it down I noticed one of the streaks of mud was also a decent sized scratch across the door panel. I have since called their service manager 4 times (once a day) with no response and having to leave a voicemail each time, I am still waiting for a response to this issue. If they are going to scratch my week old car the first time I bring it in and not respond or answer the phone I am very questionable about the rest of their service department. I was also convinced/pressured into using their Matthews Black service plan to get cheaper oil changes, which now I deeply regret as I doubt I will use their service department again if they can't even respond to this simple issue.
