I have left one star only because leaving zero is not an option. My wife called me at work because a person from this company was wandering around our driveway. He was driving a company truck, and left a business card with the company website and contact information. I asked my wife to have him come back and meet me at the house when I returned at 10:30 AM, which he did. He was initially very polite. After speaking with him about the job, I informed him that I needed to wait a few weeks until some financial matters were settled, and then we could discuss a scope of work. He then became verbally abusive, storming back to his truck, while shouting obscenities and insults (there has a child in his truck while all this was happening). His behavior made me think he was unhinged. I made no reply to him, as he seemed to be on the edge of becoming violent. Due diligence is absolutely required if this company contacts you with a deal that sounds too good to be true. Do not let these people on your property.Official Asphalt of NY, LLC

Hi, I was working on the road that these folks lived on. I went into their driveway the wife comes out and I asked if she would like to pave her driveway. She said yes, they were thinking about it because they lived on a steep hill and it needed to be done. She said she had to call her husband, she spoke to him on the phone. He asked if I could meet back at 10:30, he had to speak to his neighbor because they share the driveway. Exactly an hour from the time I was already there. He asked on the phone for my phone number which I gave him. I proceeded back to my original job site. I am owner operator company. I stopped what I was doing at 10:30 and went back to his house, paused my project. Walked up his long driveway, he came outside very polite and said let’s walk down the bottom of driveway. After walking driveway, he expresses his neighbor just lost his job they won’t be paving this at this time. So I asked why never called me on the phone to tell me that he didn’t want an estimate this year, why would you waste my time. I put my current job on hold to provide him an estimate. He had my phone number, he should have just called me and told me they were not looking to have it done. I did not use profanity, I simply told him he wasted my time. My teenage son was in the vehicle, all the way parked on the other side of driveway. I was not yelling or being inappropriate other than expressing how I felt. I still feel that way, that my time is valuable and he wasted it. ***** was a non consumer who was a time waster. Nobody was unhinged, the outdoor temperature was triple digits I have material cooling and the clock ticking on an active job site. We did not provide service for this person so he cannot make accusations and speculation upon my workmanship or quality. This review is not accurateReview fromPaul D

1 starOur church used Official Asphalt to redo our church parking lot on 10/22/24.
Meeting Jeremy in person at the job site I also had a member of the church there who had knowledge of paving with asphalt.
We had a few questions concerning what was going to be done and Jeremy began yelling and screaming at us.
We asked about a contract and he went on a tirade on how he has done so many jobs without a contract.
Jeremy called the office and finally had the contract and proof of insurance sent to my email.
The contract that we received he said he had sent it Saturday. Yet on the date signed line it was stated signed on 10/22/24 not 10/19/24. Also the certificate of liability insurance had the certificate holder as the Town of ***************** ********** and dated 5/7/24. The holder should have been ****** ******* ****** with the proper date. I’m sure he will have some type of loophole he will use to explain the fact that he lied to us. This again does not excuse his behavior towards us just for asking a question.
He continued to berate us and told our assistant pastor of the church that he was a liar. We do have an audio recording of the tirade. While he was continuing his antics, we read the contract that we finally received and agreed the church would honor our commitment. When I approached him to tell him we would go forward I had to yell shut up at him so I could get a word in. Again, I cannot state this enough, all we asked for was clarification and the contract.
I found Jeremy’s behavior to be disrespectful and childish. His yelling and screaming were unprofessional with his excuse being I talk loud. His constant threats of suing us for his unprofessionalism was nothing but a bullying tactic. I’m sure his response will be that he gave us a great deal on the job, which he did. But with that being said I will never use his company again or recommend them to anyone. Hats off to the workers, they did a great job. Jeremy and his antics are the reason for the 1 star.Review fromRichard B

Similar story. Avoid these guys. We are a law office in Allegany County, NY. Fella said he was working on roads in town and had leftover asphalt. I called our town highway superintendent to see if he'd heard of the outfit. But the guy asked to talk to the Highway superintendent and he started describing the type of asphalt he was going to use and briefly described the job. I took the phone back and the highway superintendent said, that he new the terminology, he knew the names of one of the people they claimed to do work for, but that I should call some other highway folks I knew since we represent so many municipalities. Also, the spouse of one of our employees had done this type of work for 10 years, so we called him, too. Ultimately, the "contract" he had faxed over about 40 minutes looked to have been drafted by a semi-literate 4th grader and was 70%-"we're not responsible if weeds start growing through your driveway." The asphalt was a week old, they were going to apply it cold and with no binder. After we had done our due diligence and reviewed his "contract," we decided to wait until spring. His mad half of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was unleashed, and the boy became hilariously unhinged. He whined at us for wasting his time, hurled a string of profanities and in his parting gesture, shot us the bird and spit on our front yard. He's a slick, hot-headed clown. For us, it was disaster avoided. Beware.Official Asphalt of NY, LLC

I approached this firm as one of the representatives were outside talking on the phone. I asked if they would be interested in asphalting the property and he proceeded to gather the other owners to have a conversation about the topic. The father stated I had had reviews,I told him I do 30 plus jobs per week, I can not please the world and he we moved past the topic. I gave them a quote , emailed contract along with emailed copy of/proof of insurance and work comp. He went to the street we were contracted on, he stated he joggs over their so he was familiar with the street I was working on. He checked out my equipment and workmanship, he then brought me out a blue print to show me the sewer clean out cap was located, we walked around for around 1 hour or so debating on the job. His partner gave us his driveway to do along with the parking lot ,made a phone call to highway super and he agreed we were going to be doing the correct job and he would come test it once it’s done. A little while longer, the foreign exchange Russian son in law of the owner came out bashing me, insulting me, I told him he doesn’t know me. Not everything you read is truthful, people make false statements everyday like this one I’m responding too.
He asked where is the blacktop, I told him sarcastically it was cold, we had to heat it in a toaster oven etc. The owner came out, declined my service. I never spit or used foul language or gave the bird. As he stated, I did tell him thanks for wasting my time after sending and delivering all of the requested documents they asked for and answering all their questions and being accused from their son in law and interrogated from him like I was a horrible person. I would also like to apologize, I did not surpass the 4th grade and my grammar is not set to an attorney’s standards. Lastly, we did not do this job, so this complaint has nothing to do with quality of a job or workmanship. Nothing more than a disagreement between two people.Review fromThomas K

Beware: Jack, the boss, and Rick, the foreman, both use a lot of dirty language, I told Jack to make sure the paving starts downhill from at least one inch below the level of the concrete in the garage. He said that would be no problem. I could not be on site when the job was done. Big mistake. When I got there, the paving was up to the top of the concrete. Now water from driving wind and rain will get in the garage. Rick said he was never told to start an inch below the concrete. Rick put in writing that he would take care of any water-in-the-garage problem that might occur within one business day. Meanwhile, Jack denied he ever told me he would start the paving below the level of the concrete. Really?
I would give them a one-star rating based on the negative stuff. I would give them a four-star rating based on finished product, albeit with the serious height error. Net rating: two stars.Official Asphalt of NY, LLC

We milled ******’s driveway down
Before paving with fine course asphalt. Once milled, I then saw cut the garage area along the edge several feet in width so it wouldn’t be higher. The driveway is on a steep slope and no water would run into the garage, I tried to explain that due to the saw cut in front of the garage this would settle how he wants it. We put it in writing along with a warranty that we stand by this job if any issues would occur we would take care of it. Since then, it’s rained at least 30 times and no water is in the garage. Quality of work is not mentioned in this review, the job was outstanding and as far as language we can not control what gets said when two people are arguing like children because they prefer not to listen to the process why it’s level at the concrete. We never ask for money upfront, in this case we waited close to a week for payment and original price never changes on any job we install.Review fromBonnie S

Yesterday Jemery approached my partner and gave him the same line that they were in the neighborhood and had extra material left over and for $7000 they would do our driveway. He told Dave he could either pay with a check or a credit card. Not once was anything said about a surcharge for using a credit card. There was nothing on the invoice stating that either which was handed to Dave. When Dave checked his credit card statement, he noticed that a couple of hundred dollars had been added. When he called Jemery to asked him about that, he told Dave to check the contract that was sent to his email which mentioned the fee. There's a new law in NYS that says that this charge has to be disclosed to the customer at the beginning to lead to transparency and fairness. He told me all businesses charge and we should have known that. The consumer must be told. Watch out for these guys. If you've have a problem, file a complaint.Official Asphalt of NY, LLC

Hi ******, I had spoke with you several times since the driveway was installed regarding this issue you claim to be mislead on. There was plenty of transparency the entire time. You even just stated that Dave was aware of both payment methods accepted upfront. Dave told us he didn’t have the money that day, we told him it was ok as long as he could pay us by that friday. We did not ask for any payment upfront and the price never changed when job was completed. He stated, he was using his credit card and was advised of the surcharge. We do not get any extra compensation from this surcharge, it goes to ******, our credit card merchant for processing of payment. However, he could avoid the fees if he paid by a check, he argued that he was in business for over 30 years and never took a surcharge. I replied to him that my company is not responsible for paying his surcharge or processing fees for him having the convenience to use his credit card.
This was said before he ever provided any credit card information. He then proceeded to tell me he was still going to pay by credit card understanding but not agreeing with the surcharge. He had an emailed contract that underlines everything about a surcharge when using credit card for payment method, along with his warranty, description of work, price, etc. the job was $7000. We only received $7000. Any extra percentage went directly to ******, the merchant company for his processing to use the credit card. And I will be more than happy to provide screenshots of the emailed contract that Dave had viewed several times as I have the ability to check when an invoice gets opened. Us as the service provider, should not have to take less when we agreed on $7000 and that is all we received not a penny more. this all could’ve been avoided if you paid with a check, there is no need to bash my company and tell other people to be aware of me when we gave you an outstanding service proper workmanship and excellent driveway for $7000, not one dollar over the money you paid went to my company but was a processing fee to ****** for using the credit card process service to pay for your driveway . However I see your only issue was the fees you created for yourself not a problem with the paving job you received. Hope you have a better day and make better decision making when choosing which payment methods you use in the future as it is a reflection of you and not a business.Review fromken r

This is a serious warning to everyone. I let my guard down and did something no homeowner should do. Jeremy came to my door to make an offer for repaving my driveway at a discount as they were working down the street and had all their equipment ready to go. After speaking with him about specifics I agreed to his estimate and asked for a contract to be signed. Less than a half hour later he is in my driveway tearing it up and I stopped him and politely stated that I would just like the signed contract before beginning. He stated that it was emailed to me and that his word was good. When I told him I had not received it he started getting defensive, asked why I would not just take his word for it and asked why I was being "weird". I continued to state that I was not comfortable with a project of this size with no contract at which point he began calling me names and getting upset. After I still insisted on a contract he told me to forget about it, find someone else, called me a "****off" and left me with a 3x4 foot section of broken asphalt. There's obviously something else going on here and I would warn others to be sure to get a contract before having any job done and never do business with this firm. You may also want to question dealing with a business that would talk to their customers this way and be so adamant about giving a contract.Official Asphalt of NY, LLC

Hi, on behalf of Official Asphalt of NY,
We agreed to do this job with you and sent you the invoice multiple times before initial start. We offered to remove your concrete and some other areas before paving took place. We were digging out concrete at first and then you kicked us off of your property because you claimed that you did not receive the emailed contract due to you having spam blocker on and going to junk mail. I am not sure about the profanity or vulgar tongue but you removed us from your property not allowing us to fill it in with asphalt. You moved your cars and all your clutter from the driveway and work site for us, we came over an hour or so later from several doors down after paving 4 driveways on the street you reside on. We started the work and you stopped the project after we sent the contract multiple times. We never asked for money upfront or any compensation I’m advance. The contract listed what we were fulfilling which was everything you asked for and it was listed on the emailed contract. All the extra work that we were not even charging you for to just be able to pave the driveway. We did not complain as we accepted the terms and shook hands. We would have been more than happy to repair the small area we started on but we were advised several times to leave, so my crew members packed up and respectfully removed ourselves from your property.ken r

Continues to lie. No contract in spam folder or otherwise. Jeremy used expletives as he left before I could ask him to leave. If anyone would like they can view and hear the profanity on my Ring Camera recording. There were no crew members, Jeremy himself came right over by himself driving the equipment to remove the concrete. I'm just glad he left before doing more damage to my property or as I have found on other reviews on the internet having finished the job then claiming the agreed upon price was higher.Official Asphalt of NY, LLC

I’d like to state once again we never did your job to try and change any price you had one price and the same price was on your contract I can provide that it was sent to you
As far as language if your mad I apologize that your feelings got hurt, please go converse with your fellow neighbors and ask them about their experience and cost and if we alternate the price at any point of the job before or after completion and ask them about their satisfaction and workmanship they received if something needs to be fixed that we did or caused please reach out to set something up, thank youReview fromSusan and Gary D

My wonderful husband surprised me and as of about 8:45pm last night it was done. I can't say enough good things about Official Asphalt of NY! They dealt with many obsticals yesterday, but they promised a driveway that day and started the job at 6pm to make sure it got done! Don D*********, who lead the crew was professional, fair, and made sure every step of the job was done to our specifications and satisfaction.
