On 6/12/2023 this company sent a bill of laden for a moving service in the amount of 3100$. They requested a 1300$ deposit to hold a moving date. When the company came out to pick up my items they changed the amount to $6500 and refused to send me an updated bill of laden for this and refused to refund my deposit. The company left and kept the deposit and refuse to transfer or refund said deposit.

We appreciate customer feedback, as a company, we are always looking for ways to improve our services.  In response to the online complaint we would like to address the following:

On June 4th, 2023 the company secured a position on our calendar and provided customers with a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed and returned, prior to accepting a deposit of $1272.24 and securing a position on our calendar.

Our company also strives in saving customers money, unfortunately upon arrival the FMCSA carrier noticed that the volume that customer would occupy, exceeded the amount initially estimated.  This adjustment in volume caused the increase in price.  As provided by the customer, the bill of lading reflects the difference in volume which was signed off by the customer indicating this was agreed by the customer.  These adjustments were for including but not limited to the increase in volume.

On June 14th, 2023 the consumer refused service at the time of Pick Up.

Customers desired resolution was for a refund in the amount of $1272.24. However, after careful review of account, the account was closed as a “refusal of services”.  The consumer called customer service and was provided with the cancelation policy that he understood, acknowledged and accepted at the time of making his reservation. After being advised he is eligible to keep his deposit as a credit for the next calendar year he disconnected with our customer service department.

Thank you for you time and attention to this matter.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I reached back to **** * ******** III to give him more information on the move in my window before someone arrived and he assured me it was okay. **** stated someone would contact me to review that, which no one did so i assumed he handled it. What my quote was for was for about 90% of my household items yet the cost more than doubled for the remaining 10% going from $3100 to $6500. When I spoke with Jennifer who claimed she was the supervisor she stated the deposit could be transferred to future move. When I called back to inquire a new quote and move I was refused by ******* who stated I am not Eligible for another move and the deposit was forfeited. I understand a booking fee being required, however this ended up more than doubling my signed contracted agreed amount when there wasn’t more than double the space needed. This is not concrete information and seems the company can make up any numbers they want to charge the customer after securing their large deposit for very little action on their part. Please review these reviews from 60 other people with the same story of a bait and switch provided by this company:

    *********************************************************

They also put a monthly draft on my bank charge in the amount of $1272 to repeat each month which was not authorized and discovered by my bank. I put a stop order on that to prevent further drafts.

I am still requesting my refund. The company also refuses to provide me with any thing in writing explaining how they came up with the new total of $6500 for my items.

    Sincerely,

In response to the preceding appeal we would like to provide some clarity on the reference to our company not providing the services. "The account was closed as a “refusal of services”.  The consumer called customer service and was provided with the cancelation policy that he understood, acknowledged and accepted at the time of making his reservation."

Therefore, we stand by our previous assertion and will not be providing a refund in any form. However, for any inconveniences we would be willing to provide a discounted rate for any future long distance move.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

"The account was closed as a “refusal of services”.

this is incorrect, I refused the new amount your company was billing me of $6500 when the original agreed amount was $3100.

“The consumer called customer service and was provided with the cancelation policy that he understood, acknowledged and accepted at the time of making his reservation.”

False, I was not told that my deposit would not be refunded when I declined the new amount of $6500. I also am female which I have been addressed as a male several times.

I am willing to split the cost of the deposit to end this here or will be going to the attorney general and contacting an attorney.

    Sincerely,

After asking for a moving quote, I was contacted by US Interstate and Rail to move household goods from California to Texas. I spoke with a salesperson who described this move as ideal for his company because he just happened to have an empty truck going that way and offered a discounted rate and free storage up to 60 days and used the phrase "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." I was then transferred to customer service and asked to walk through the house for an inventory. I gave detailed descriptions of each furniture item and an estimate of the number of boxes we would have. I received the estimate totaling 3,957.50 which was acceptable so I signed their contracts and put down a deposit while on the phone with the sales representative and other departments within the company.

Foolishly, I went along with the phone call at each step and provided the information I was asked for without noticing certain things in the contract. Items that I had described over the phone did not make it on to the bill of lading, the cubic footage estimate turned out to be ridiculously small for the items I carefully described, and the carrier made no effort to discuss the limitations on dimensions of furniture or boxes. At the time I was happy to have movers coming to assist and busied myself packing and preparing for the truck.

On moving day the truck arrives, and we walk through pointing out the things to be loaded. The employee points out that the estimated square footage seems small for the items listed and would need to be revised. Their revised quote was $3,900 more than the initial estimate! The discrepancy came down to the company unscrupulously low-balling the estimated space, erroneously left items off the bill of lading, and refusing to honor the contract for the quoted price. It was unacceptable and I was forced to turn away the movers. I am now seeking a refund on the non refundable deposit in the amount of $1978.75 due to their bad faith actions.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

    1. The Bill of Lading omitted items from the original inventory given to them over the phone.

    2. The company's original estimate of 475 cubic feet was so drastically low there is no way that the volume would have come near the original quote, even after I gave the best descriptions possible over the phone. The company made no effort at better due diligence, such as asking for dimensions of items or visuals representations of the items. This unscrupulously low volume estimate was made out of either extreme incompetence or fraudulent intent indicated by the revised quote from the on site moving company that doubled the original quote.

I am rejecting this response because:

    1. The cancellation policy that the company claims I received, read, and understood was emailed while I was on the phone with them. Their representatives rushed me through signing it in order to secure this deposit. They also claimed on this phone call that they only accept ACH deposits, where in this cancellation policy it states that a credit card is useable - another tactic of defrauding me of any recourse in this situation.

    2. The company's offers for a future move (with stipulations) and "discounts" are as ludicrous and disingenuous as their business practices and I would never accept anything from them other than my money back. As stated previously, the omission of items from the bill of lading and bad faith estimates of volume should void any contract that I have with the company.

    Sincerely,

On June 17th at approximately 7:00 pm, this moving company stole my property without my consent. We had originally agreed for them to arrive and they gave us a quote. When they arrived, they started loading the truck, but in the middle of loading, they said we would need more space and that the price would be 2-3x higher ($6,000 to $9,000 instead of the agreed upon $3000.) We then said we wanted our stuff back, as the salesman intentionally misled us on the phone. When he quoted us, we told him a detailed list of what we would be loading (king bed, large sofa, 40 boxes, etc). We confirmed this multiple times. Then when they arrived, they loaded the sofa, TV, and bikes and said they were out of room for what we agreed. We of course were shocked, as we told them what all we had, and the representative told us we would have plenty of room. Clearly if only 2 items fit of the long list we provided, and the representative said "this will definitely be plenty of room", there was intentional misleading in order to get us to agree, then when we are vulnerable they switch the price last second knowing we have no other options than to move. If you read their other reviews, this is a common practice they do.
We asked them to return our property off the truck since they changed the price after already loading it, and they said no. They then closed the door and drove the truck off after I repeatedly asked for my stuff back. They now have my property hostage and the owner said "I have your property and you're not getting it back till you sign the document", referring to the document I was supposed to sign to agree to the terms of how much space we used and the cost. They may attempt to say that I have signed this document already, however I did not, as the document I sent them had lines going through the signature sections indicating I did not consent to the terms. I would like a full refund of ALL money I have paid this company, as well as my property back.

We appreciate customers' feedback, as a company, we are always looking for ways to improve our services.

In response to the online complaint we would like to address the following:

On March 28, 2023 company secured a position on our calendar and provided customer a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed and returned, prior to accepting deposit of $1600.10 to secure a position on our calendar.(please see attached)

We strive to accommodate customers arriving within the requested window for pickup however, due to unforeseen delays, no promises can be made.  In fact, the Binding Moving Estimate policy makes clear “All pickup,  load and/or delivery dates are only estimates and are not guaranteed. There are absolutely no guarantees made, expressed or implied regarding pack, load and/or delivery dates.”

To address the allegations we would like to provide the following:

?  The estimate was based on the items that the customer provided.

?  Customer accepted service this is not a hostage move.

?  Bill of lading was prepared at the pickup.

?  The bill of lading was provided to the customer (order of service), along with the inventory sheets.

Customers desired resolution was for a refund in the amount of $1600.10.  After careful review of the account, the company has concluded we not only stayed in clear communication with the customer but we have executed our end of the estimate.  Therefore, no refund can be processed in any form. However, the company is willing to accommodate a future long-distance move at a discounted rate for the inconveniences.

Company never moved my items and still charged my bank account. They will likely reply with lies as other reviews have noted. They literally stole from me (and multiple other people) and did not render the service they agreed to provide, and still charged my bank account for it.

We have received consumer complaint and have thoroughly reviewed account.

We appreciate customers' feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our services. That said, we would like to address the following.

    Timeline of communication and events:

The company showed up for pick up on the scheduled days requested by the customer.

Due to cancellation, the company returned the customers Household Goods to her pick up location.

The company in fact did hold up our end of the contract and would have much rather executed the move for the customer. Due to the events that have occurred and our cancellation policy no refund will be processed in any form. The company stands by its previous assertion.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

On 6/10/2023 I hired this moving company to move us from Titus,AL to Whitter,NC for our new jobs in NC. We were quoted a price and told depending on cubic feet the price could go up or down a little. We watched the movers pack up our belongings. And told the movers see you in NC they said see you there. The movers left 1 hour a head of us. We arrived at our new home to find the truck and movers are no where to be found. We immediately call the drivers phone number who had been texting g us all day from this number goes straight to voicemail. We called numerous times to fi d out where the truck was with our stuff. We next called the moving company it also went to voicemail. We had to sleep on the hard floor. We waited until they were opened and called them told us our stuff would be there Monday. They never showed up or called us. We call them and they tell us our stuff went to a warehouse but didn't tell us where it went to. Then they said it could be 30 days before our things are delivered to us. Not one person from the day I reserved the truck and gave them a huge deposit not one person ever told us that our stuff is going to a warehouse. The company asked for more money our second time paying them. The price went up a third time and were told when they deliver our things we have to pay another amount before they hand over our stuff. So basically our stuff is being held hostage and we are force to pay a larger amount to get it back. Because we thought they were moving us from our old address to our new address we packed our clothes, winter coats, our food, and some of my wife's heart medicine to find out after the fact it all went to a warehouse. So now we don't have nothing and we start new jobs. We also have family heirlooms on that truck everything we own is on that truck.Because the price going up drained our bank account now we have to use our money held back for our 2 car payments. And starting a new job we won't get our first pay check for 3 weeks.

On May 26, 2023, the quality assurance department called the customer to review the inventory before pickup. The inventory was adjusted adding an additional 105 cf. which required an additional payment of $469.00

On June 7, 2023, the carrier confirmed the pickup would be 06/10/23. Outlined in the estimate, although company strives to accommodate customers with arriving within requested window for pick, due to unforeseen delays, no promises can be made.  Policy makes clear “All pickup,  load and/or delivery dates are only estimates and are not guaranteed. This company provides false information to their customers. They are a moving company that quotes you a low rate for moving services across the country and once at your doorstep they will extortion you for more money. They have hidden fees and fraudulent contracts. They stole from our home upon delivery and have fake 5 starts reviews on Google. This company is a scam!!! They double charged us and refuse to refund anything. The fine print in the contract let's them do all of this. It's a huge scam the owners previous company has over 100 reviews saying the same thing that happened to me. Most of our stuff was broken upon delivery. Please check 1 star reviews online there are so many ppl like me trying to express their frustration. This company needs to be hold accountable!

Long Distance Moving is a service we provide to our customers and our company is an FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) authorized motor carrier. In order to execute the move, our company also utilizes authorized FMCSA motor carriers.

On April 12, 2023, the company secured a position on our calendar and provided customers with a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed and returned, prior to accepting a deposit of $814.42 and securing a position on our calendar. (please see attached_1)

On May 22, 2023, the customer went through our Quality Assurance department. Quality Assurance's job is to go through in detail of the itemized list with the customer and see if any changes will be made. At this time the customer made no changes to their Estimate.

On May 26, 2023, our company executed the move for the costumer. We provided the Bill Of Lading (please see attached_2) which was acknowledged, signed and returned. Both the Estimate and the Bill of Lading reflect the same price and the company considers this a fraudulent complaint.

Customers desired resolution was for a refund in the amount of $814.42. After careful review of the account, the company has concluded we not only stayed in clear communication with the customer but we have executed our end of the estimate. The customer has since been delivered and the company considers this matter closed. When planning to move I hired this company to move me. I spoke with a nice gentlemen on the phone who assured me that out of all the prospect calls that I was getting from different companies that they were different from any other company because they are direct and they don't outsource. I can't make this up. When moving came to mind I didn't want to go with just anybody. I wanted real professionals to come handle my furniture and handle it with care. We had a nice conversation and I told him that I would let him know. During this phone conversation we call this a one bedroom move. The gentleman on the phone asked for a picture and I sent it. Also while on that phone call we called this the "one bedroom move"! I believe this gentleman's name was ***** or something like that. While calling this a one bedroom move, he use the these exact words... He asked for me to give him a generalized idea of what I had. So I named like 10 Benz, 12 boxes etc etc which was a general roundabout. I literally have a one bedroom and I literally had one bedroom items. He quoted me a high quote. I stated to him that other companies have been trying to get my attention to go with them and they were cheaper and I would not be going with this company. He convinced me for a long time on the phone that going with this company will be better because they don't outsource. It's the funniest thing because that is the very reason I went for the company and the company did the exact opposite. I couldn't understand why this was happening to me. I had to do an emergency move. I had to be out the very next day. I stated that on the phone. He assured me he doesn't outsource in that choosing this company would be great for me. So I went with the company on the morning of my move. I kid you not. I get a call that says hey where the movers and they say a different name. And I'm like I didn't hire you guys I hired a different company US interstate. They said no. Day and night movers. I couldn't understand from the life of me why the man would go through all the changes to tell me that he doesn't outsource only to outsource. I did not hire this company. I wasn't made aware that they outsource I was told they didn't verbally over and over and over again. He stood firm that he didn't but he did. When the movie showed up I immediately called interstate. I told him that I didn't hire this company. And can I get my $600 deposit back ? They weren't understanding for the problem they had caused. It was fraud. I have been Scammed!!!!! I began to cry. They pulled up in the dirtiest truck. The front of the truck had duct tape holding up the front headlights. Obvious dirt inside and outside of the truck. After a hour of being upset and not getting anywhere with this company. And telling them that I didn't hire these people that they sent to me. I had to do what I had to do because I was desperate. I began to let them move me. These men came in and they only grabbed the things that were on the list. Keep in mind this was a generalized list. He assured me that it would be a one bedroom move. I was telling him that it's not exact. The Man came in and only got half of the things in my house. When they came in they immediately tried to charge me a extra $200. Because I was 75 feet extra from the truck. They came in like con artists. They were already ready to charge me more money. There was about 1,200 left to be paid. Upon the company coming that I didn't hire keep in mind. The company that I didn't hire also thought that I would just be sitting around with $1,200 in my purse. These men demanded cash. My move didn't start until 2 hours after I got there because I was on the phone with the initial company that I hired asking them. Why would they send someone like this. These people are telling me they only take cash for a move. Sketchy and scam artists. I will really hate for someone else to have to go through this. This was an emergency move due to horrible dusts in my apartment and other things that made me have to move. So keep in mind I had just made this move and paid $1,000 to move and now I'm doing it all over again for an emergency. Which is not their problem but seeing that they were trying to charge me extra. Give me a hard time about cash and just being scam artists. I felt trapped. There was nothing that I could do because I had to be out of the house by the next morning. I cried and I cried. When these men that I didn't hire came in they dropped my white furniture which I have pictures of and will attach. They broke my stuff. Not only that while they were moving my stuff into their truck they left the truck open continually in a high traffic area. This was not moving out of a home or out of a calm area. This was moving on a major street full of people who are walking by. One straggler asked the mover. Hey, I will give you $50 for two of the boxes. I couldn't believe I was hearing what I was hearing. I had to come downstairs and sit in my car and watch my belongings. I was scammed and I was doing half the work and still they left me with half of my belongings in my house and I had to pay other movers. I'm on limited income and disabled. I definitely wouldn't want this to happen to anyone's grandmother or just anyone for that matter. This story seems like it's already worse, right? Well that's not it. After they drop my bed. My white bed that was clean. They left Mark's all over my furniture which they made horribly dirty. They dropped my furniture without even telling me they didn't think that I seen them. They picked it right back up like it was nothing. Whatever they were dinging and making bad. They just weren't saying anything about it. So mind you they left a lot of stuff behind so I had to straighten up put what I could in the car. They left out immediately. This is a move from Milwaukee to Chicago. A hour drive. I wasn't scammed and not given what I paid for and what was agreed upon. I was completely scammed. Not the company I hired. The mover is left out before me. I instructed them that this was my cell phone and it was a storage unit that they were going to. The lady in the office was aware that they were coming. Craziest situation because they kept in contact with me. We talked the whole way they were on the way there. I told them the lady is waiting on you and she will be there. She is in the office. They lied and said that she was not in her office. But here's the funny thing about surveillance cameras. They capture everything. So I have the company that is willing to share that surveillance as well. When I finally arrived they had just finished unloading. They called me a couple times while I was in the car and we talked and they said everything was fine. They never called back. I said the lady in the office will give you the unit in there. You can put it in there. They never called me back. I arrived. Very very embarrassed because they left everything that I had moved with them on a dock. Every single thing. So I hope You are getting the gist of everything that happened. Not only did they come into my house and not give me what I paid for which was a one bedroom move. But then they move my stuff, break it and make it dirty and then leave my stuff on a dock. So not only did I have to get movers to get the stuff that they didn't take out of my home when they first picked it up. But then I had to hire someone to come get my stuff from the doctor put inside of the actual storage. This company is a scam and I feel like the world needs to know about it. Not who I initially hired and they didn't complete the move. I ended up having to pay two different moving companies. On a limited income and being disabled, I had to pay three different moving companies. To complete one move. When I arrived and I asked them why would they do this? Why would you leave this stuff here? They were headed to their car and they said that the lady wasn't in the office. Funny thing is the lady was standing right there. She had just let a girl out of the office. She was right there. It is on surveillance and is available upon request. I also have photos. When I question them on why they would leave my stuff on the dock. They accuse me of having a dirty home. Everything in my house is white. I can't afford to have a dirty home. I will attach photos of my before to assure you that they broke and dirtied my furniture. I am disputing the charges because they didn't complete the one bedroom move. They broke my items. They dirty my items. I had to get three movers. They required cash without notification. They tried to charge me extra. They are a scam. And the truck barely made it . They left my items for dead on a dock. I was yelled at and disrespected and told my house was dirty. cant have all white home and be dirty. I will attach a photo of my apartment Please make it so no one else has to go through this in life. I'll let God be the judge. Thank you for your time. Be blessed.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/15/2023

We appreciate customer feedback, as a company, we are always looking for ways to improve our services.  In response to the online complaint we would like to address the following:

On April 24, 2023 the company secured a position on our calendar and provided customers with a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed and returned, prior to accepting a deposit of $602.26 and securing a position on our calendar. (please see attached_1)

Long Distance Moving is a service we provide to our customers and in order to execute the move, our company utilizes authorized FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) motor carriers.

Customers desired resolution was for a refund in the amount of $1720.77. However, after careful review of account, we discovered the deposit that was accepted was in the amount of $602.26 and the remainder was paid to our FMSCA agent.  More importantly, company has concluded we not only stayed in clear communication with the customer but more importantly our end of the contract was in fact executed and therefore, no refund can be processed in any form.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: greatly put only if it was the truth. I spoke to a representative named *****. I had other offers. I declined the offer. When he offered me the move. He asked me who was I going to move with and I gave him the company and I also told him the price that they were giving me. He convinced me to go with him because they don't outsource. So no matter what this company says. They're agents deceive you into getting into this place. This company has several complaints the same as mine. When I spoke to the representative name *****. I informed him I had a one bedroom move. He said can you give me a roundabout of what you have. He never stated once in the conversation that it will only be those items. This company is a complete scam and needs to be stopped. I was told that it wouldn't be outsourced. And I had no other options but to go with the company that they sent. This company is not an honest company. And then for the other company to ask for cash. It's just a scam. They came in the door trying to charge me miscellaneous charges. They damaged my furniture completely to no return. So I am not accepting this offering. This company will say anything to suck you in. Needs to be stopped. My move was to be a one bedroom room. Not an itemized moved. He said an example. It's funny how they can say one thing and then refer to contracts and other things of that nature. I was promised that they wouldn't or outsource the job and that's exactly what they did. That's the only reason that I even went with this company is because ***** told me that they don't outsource. This company needs to hold accountability and stop scamming people into moving with them and go with a reputable company. They need to be accountable for their actions. I have broken furniture from this so what makes you think that I'm going to accept that offer. It does mean nothing.

    Sincerely,

In addition to the mentioned above statements, US Interstate and Rail stands by our previous assertion and thereby not we are not able to provide a refund for deposit. However, the company is willing to accommodate a future long-distance move at a discounted rate for the inconveniences. With regard to the Better Business Bureau, the company does consider this matter closed unless additional information can be provided.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: This company put me in the most horrible and vulnerable situation. The fact that they are very unapologetic and unaccommodating speaks for itself. The previous attachment show that I am not the only person who has gone through this with this company. They don't want to accommodate you when they do something wrong to you and they make you seem like it's your situation and they are exactly by the book and they are not. This company cost me a lot due to their negligence. From the conversation on the phone where I clearly stated over and over again, this was going to be a one bedroom move. He told me to give him examples and when the people movers came they only took just that I had to hire two additional moving companies on top of the high price that they charged me. They assured me they didn't outsource and that's exactly what they did. And the horrible company that they end up putting in place of them left my things on a dock and didn't even take everything that they were supposed to. I was severely severely severely severely inconvenienced by this company and all you can offer me is a discount. I'm a disabled woman. On a small income and all you can have for me is a discount. What would make you think that I would want to use your company again after I called immediately when this happened to me and you guys said that you couldn't even give me my deposit back or anything and I was due to move the next day. It's horrible how you treat him and beings and I would hate to see another person treated like this let alone a disabled or elderly human being. This company is horrible and if I don't get justice from it I will let God be the judge and he definitely is the ultimate judge. This company should not be in business, they are a scam and they are unapologetic. I can see if they were trying to fix the situation and rectify it but they're not and they don't care and they're going to do it again. If they haven't done it again today or tomorrow. This company should be not in service in the world. Should know about it where they should make a conscious decision if they want to deal with the horrible company. I reject this completely

    Sincerely,

Working with U.S. Interstate and Rail for our move from NY to Colorado has been a terrible experience from beginning to end. The first gentleman we spoke to gave us a quote of $3700 when we told them we had a 10 x 10 storage unit that was *entirely* full from floor to ceiling. He estimated the cubic footage, price, and confirmed our things would be delivered on 5/14. We were happy, and booked and paid immediately. When they came to pick up our stuff from our unit, they said the original estimate was wrong and it would be 6000 + $1000 for packing supplies even though our things were already packed. We tried talking to management and they claimed zero responsibility for intentionally or unintentionally severely misleading us into our contract and getting an additional $3000 from us. After hours on the phone we said "OK fine just please deliver our things.' Fast forward one month and we still do not have them. They said the delivery window is 5/14-6/14; we have called at least 15x to get an update and no one is able to tell us when our things will be delivered or even what state they are in; they even seem unsure that they will be delivered during our 30 day window, which is a violation of our contract. This whole experience has been utterly draining, this company sucks you in under false pretenses and gaslights you when you confront them. They are making their money through nefarious means and it has been impossible to get a straight answer from them. Where are our things?!!!

In summary, these are the ways they have lied to us:
    1) They told us our estimate was binding and then upcharged us by $3000
    2) They told us a 42% tariff discount was included and then said never mind
    3) They told us no additional/hidden charges would occur and then charged $1000 for extra wrapping
    4) They told us our stuff would arrive by 5/14, then by 6/14 but have no idea where it is as of 5pm EST on 6/12

We appreciate customer feedback, as a company, we are always looking for ways to improve our services.  In response to the online complaint we would like to address the following:

On April 27, 2023 the company secured a position on our calendar and provided customers with a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed and returned, prior to accepting a deposit of $1861.36 and securing a position on our calendar. (please see attached_1)

These adjustments were for including but not limited to the increase in volume.(please see attached_2)

We strive to accommodate customers arriving with the requested window for pick, due to unforeseen delays, no promises can be made.  The initial Moving Binding Estimate policy makes clear “All pickup,  load and/or delivery dates are only estimates and are not guaranteed. There are absolutely no guarantees made, expressed or implied regarding pack, load and/or delivery dates.” That being said the customers first available delivery day was May 14,2023. Our company has 30 business days from the first available delivery date to fulfill delivery.

After further review of the account, we have been in contact with the customer for Delivery. The company tried to deliver the weekend of May 20,2023 and May 21,2023 but the customer was not available. We have a driver assigned and awaiting for customer availability.

Customers desired resolution was for the adjustment in price rescind to the initial cost however, after field reports reflecting the change in volume and signature reflecting the acceptance of this cost, the company is unable to adjust price due to finalized documentation. More importantly, the company has concluded we not only stayed in clear communication with the customer, however our end of the contract was in fact executed and therefore, no refund can be processed in any form.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

On 4/23/2023 I received an estimate after calling Budget Van Lines for an out of state moving estimate. An estimate was signed and agreed upon with ***** *, and he provided a written estimate which I accepted and signed, in the amount of $10,765.43. A specific truck was reserved in this amount for my move, which included, either 1 each 53’ truck, or 2 each 26’ trucks. Our move was scheduled for 6/1/2023. On 5/31/2023 I rec’d a call from US Interstate and Rail stating that the driver was ot available, and our move date was being delayed until 6/2/2023, between 8-12pm. At 12:30pm, I called to get an ETA on when the truck would be arriving, and was told they were running late and would be there in 1 hour. At 1:30pm I followed up, with another response that it would be in an hour. The truck arrived at 2:30pm. When I spoke to US Interstate and rail at this time, I asked when the second truck would be arriving at our other pick up address, they told me that it was still behind schedule, and would be there around 3:30pm. I called 3 more times u til 6pm, and received the same story, that they would be there. The second truck never showed up. At 9:30pm after I had been stressed and dealing with these movers all day, they called demanding more money, and threatening not to send another truck the next day. Only half of the pick up had been completed! He person I talked to berated me, and would not listen to me, and threatened to cancel the other truck. Since 6/3 I have had many conversations, I have paid the money that they have demanded. The estimate amount doubled, and they claimed that there was 3000 cubic feet of personal items, on a 26 ft truck that doesn’t even close close to holding that capacity. A 26’ truck will only hold around 1700 cubic feet, and US Interstate and Rail was trying to increase total move cost up from $10, 765.43 to $20,691.65! For one full 26’truck! This company was rude, arguementative, threatening, and still refuses to dispatch our furniture.

    Complaint:

I am rejecting this response because: There are many reasons that this businesses response is rejected. First, because they are not providing you will the complete information, including the original estimate of 10,765.43, which was based on 1661 cubic feet, rather that 2498. They over estimated and provided no proof of the cubic feet loaded, other than my knowledge that at 26’ truck cannot even hold 2498 cubic feet, as it will hold approximately 1700 cubic feet. They, then tried to charge us for 3000 cubic feet on a 26’ truck which was even more ridiculous, as it doesn’t fit. So, then they increased our price from 10,765.43 to $16496.74.The actual cubic feet was approx 2202. As they loaded 1700 on one load, and came back for another 502 cubic feet the next morning. The original list of items actually decreased from 29 items to 31 items, and the pieces decreased from 249 pieces to 146. It does not add up!

I am not disputing the 780.00 for materials, ie shrink wrap, although that is extremely excessive. It is the flat rate cost that has been intentionally inflated, and is incorrect.

I would like this company owner to actually address ALL of the issues with this order, and actually listen to me, the customer about how bad my experience with them has been, and continues to be. I would like for them to honor my original estimate and add the packing material, and the 1700 cubic feet, plus the additional 502 cubic feet, and actually schedule our furniture for delivery, instead of holding all of our belongings, for myself, and my 88 year old parents, hostage. This co pant has cost us additionally thousands of dollars because of their delays, lies, false charges, by having us pay additional rent for my parents assisted living, my storage fees for my storage units, and the cost of a hotel for my parents, as the moving company delayed our move, and then left my parents with no furniture in their new assisted living place in Florida, and they have had to stay in a hotel, as they do not have their belongings.

I would like to resolve this amicably, however, this company refuses to have a professional conversation with me! Instead they like to use threats, scare tactics, and just tell me to stop calling. I want to know where my and my parents things are, and when I can have them delivered, and without the usual threats, and doubling the cost, like they have done thus far.

If this owner is actually interested in resolving g this, he will get my furniture on a truck immediately, otherwise, I will continue to file formal complaints so that no other innocent person is crammed by these tactics.

I have already submitted my documents that reflect the original estimate that I would like to be honored, as described above. I’m sure the owner has access to them.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *****

PLEASE DISREGARD PREVIOUS SUBMITTED RESPONSE FROM COMPANY, IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT A CLERICAL ERROR WAS MADE AND PREVIOUS RESPONSE WAS FILED INCORRECTLY. PLEASE ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING AS THE CORRECTION:

We have received consumer complaint and have thoroughly reviewed account.

We appreciate customers' feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our services. That said, we would like to address the following.
    Timeline of communication and events:

On April 23, 2023, the company secured a position on our calendar and provided the customer (***** ******) a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed, and returned, prior to accepting a deposit of $4882.71 (via electronic check) to secure position on our calendar for first availability pickup date of 06/01/23 - 06/02/23.

On May 26, 2023, the quality assurance department called the customer to review the inventory before pickup. The inventory was adjusted adding an additional 830 cf. which required an additional payment of $2865.00

On May 30, 2023, the carrier confirmed the pickup would be 06/02/23 and a delivery spread of 06/04/23 - 07/04/23. We confirmed it with the customer.

Our company also strives in saving customers money, unfortunately after careful review of the account, the company has concluded we not only stayed in clear communication with the customer but we have executed our end of the estimate. However, the company is willing to accommodate a future long-distance move at a discounted rate for the inconveniences.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I hired US Interstate and Rail to move my furniture from Kansas to Texas. Over the phone I agreed to pay around $2100. The conversation took place Monday afternoon June 5th. I was guaranteed the furniture would be delivered by Friday. USIR pawned the job off to another company. The mover (only one guy) showed up on Wednesday. I had to help him load the truck and then he told me it would cost significantly more for moving my furniture. I had him call his boss and we reached a shaky understanding and now I am on the phone with them and they are holding my belongings hostage demanding more money. The initial problem with USIR is that I was promised a specific price and a guaranteed delivery date, both of which were not met. Now I am going to have to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to buy new clothing and a bed to facilitate in the mean time while I hope my belongings will show up. They intentionally underestimated the cost of the job significantly to take advantage of me.

June 7, 2023 US interstate and rail was suppose to assist me in moving after I put a down payment of $863.62 and then an additional $250.00 during the final inventory. I felt forced into paying the $250 after being told that I had to over estimate what my inventory would be to ensure there would be space in the truck. I was provided a high quote but reassured that if I had less items that I would pay my original estimate $2234.05. The movers not only missed their 4 hour window (8am-12pm) showing up 3 hours and 15 minutes late (3:15 pm), they were in a U-Haul truck and were unable to name the company they worked for or answer simple questions about the move due to a obvious language barrier. I was told by the costumer service representatives that I booked with that the movers would arrive in company truck and that a third party would not be hired to move my things which was obviously a lie. The movers showed me their estimate digitally which was over $1600 ( in addition to my previous payments) which they wanted me to pay right then and an additional $1200 at drop off. I told them that I was not paying more then I had agreed upon. I spoke with a man ****** ( who I was told was the movers boss) expressed my concerns and told him that I no longer wished for the service unless it was for the original price I was told. He told me he was just a costumer service rep and would transfer me to manager and then hung up on me. I contacted the costumer service line twice after that to attempt to get in touch with a revision specialist ( who I was told was the only person I could discuss money with) however I was told they were unavailable and would be calling me. I still have yet to received the call. I was completely mislead, the communication with this company was very poor and I feel that I was told what I wanted to hear and not the truth. I believe the actions of this company were fraudulent and deceptive. Open to providing more details about my experience Job #:*********

On the day that this customer booked their move (5/15/2023) they signed their estimate stating that they understood our cancellation policy, Which stated that they have up to 72 hours to cancel to receive their deposit back or they will not be eligible to receive their deposit back. This is very clear in all caps and bold lettering on page 4 of the customers estimate.

I am rejecting this response because the reply from the business was false. I did not have more items than on the inventory sheet I had less items. While at the pick up I did not initial anything as suggested by the response of the business. When the "movers" gave me the new estimate I attempted to call  customer service  who conveniently  were unable to get someone to discuss the matter with me. I waited approximately 45 minutes prior to my decision.  I decided that this operation felt like a scam based on the poor communication, the movers inability to communicate in English and their lack of ability to name the company they worked for, the fact that they showed up in a U-haul truck after I was promised that they would be showing up in a company truck, after I was told I was speaking to the movers boss ****** who winded up revealing he was just a customer service rep, who hung up on me after he told me he would be transferring me to a manager. You see I am not requesting a refund solely on the price differential but for the fact that I did not feel comfortable sending my things with a company who misleads their costumers with false claims, bends the terms of agreements, manipulates financial increases, and provides unethical business practices.

On May 22, 2023 company secured a position on our calendar and provided customer a Binding Moving Estimate, which was acknowledged, signed and returned, prior to accepting deposit of $893.62 to secure a position on our calendar.(please see attached)

On June 1, 2023, the quality assurance department called the customer to review the inventory before pickup. The inventory was adjusted adding an additional 40 cf which required an additional payment of $250.00.

On June 7, 2023, the customer chose to cancel their move and was provided with the cancelation policy that they understood, acknowledged and accepted at the time of making his reservation.

Customers desired resolution was for a refund in the amount of $1143.62.  After careful review of the account and our cancellation policy, the company has concluded we not only stayed in clear communication with the customer but we have executed our end of the estimate.  Therefore, no refund can be processed in any form. However, the company is willing to accommodate a future long-distance move at a discounted rate for the inconveniences.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
