I called Action Door, Mentor, to fix my garage door. While they fixed the issue, I feel compelled to share their pricing. First of all, I live in Mentor and their Mentor store is permanently closed so, unknown to me, my Mentor phone number went to Brooklyn Hts; however it did not make a difference with pricing. They replaced two parts for a grand total of $56.85. My bill was $290.97. I called to find out there is always a $175.00 service charge for the first 30 minutes plus always a $5.00 fuel surcharge. I have no issue with companies making a profit but feel this is excessive. I will not be using them again.

Action Door has been in business for 55 years, with branches in Brooklyn Hts. and Stow.
Covid forced the company to close down the Mentor branch, with all the employees having the option
to work out of the closest branch. With 60 trucks on the road daily, we normally have somebody close.
The particular tech that serviced the M****** residence on 11/6/23, lives in Mentor and services that area frequently. The tech takes our work truck home and has been working in Lake County for years.
He's a very experienced and knowledgeable garage door man and takes pride in his work.
He troubleshooted the motor operator and found out exactly what was wrong, repaired on the spot, and serviced the rest of the door, Action Door still has tech's / salesmen in the Lake County area and is still working daily there to keep up w/ all the customers we have had over the 55 year span we have been in business. thank-you

As a previous satisfied customer we ordered a door for our new garage on October 6th. It arrived at their facility on December 1st. This was within (Barely) the estimated widow for installation. They notified us of a January 4th installation date yesterday December 4th. When asked why a month delay the answer given is that one of their 2 installers is off work and the other only does one door per day M,W,F. The assumption being that they don't want to pay benefits and use 1099 help/part timers.
This is a choice they have made and it has a detrimental effect on our project as winter is approaching. When we ordered the door representations were made that once it arrived it would get installed within a week. This review is not meant to disparage the quality of work they perform as we have been happy with their services in the past. However if you are planning to purchase a door from them beware of the extra time involved based upon their staffing and business decisions. Whomever you order a door from you should ask about their installation backlog. We did at the time of order but things changed and their business leadership did not respond and adjust to keep at least this customer happy.

Action Door only uses company employees that have full benefits, not 1099 subcontractors, Quality of work is most important and using subcontractors we feel, who don't actually work for the company, compromises the quality of work. Since 1968 Action Door has hired and trained our own employees. This is a recipe, we feel, that promotes top level garage door installation and service. We, like many business's in this economy,, are struggling to find good help, The supply chain has also impeded our lead times. Action Door will do everything in our power to move up that worst case date of Jan 4th..
Your name is on a short list of jobs we are trying to move up and complete with the quality of work you are accustomed to.

Thank you for your timely response. I apologize for the part time assumption. It just seemed odd that your one working installer was represented to us as only working M,W,F when it would appear that over vs under (full) time would be in order. Consumers are getting a bit jaded as seemingly every business reflexively cites supply chain issues as justification for "changing levels of service". In your case, supply chain issues contributed to the 2 months it took to get the door to your facility, not the month it appears it will take for your installation. Trying to keep labor costs in line and still keep customers satisfied is a balancing act in this changed post covid economy. Part of the "balance" is hearing from your customers regarding how your responses are doing. Looking forward to getting our garage door installed.

Great doors nice installers but it came with no light bulbs and the cord wasnt long enough so i had to hire a electrican to fix.

Lightbulbs are supplied by customers for preference of wattage or LED. Cords are standard 4' length. Outlets spaced longer away from unit in garage, will need customer supplied/installed cords.
