For two months, my 85-year-old mother, now on ********, has been waiting for preauthorization for her prescribed eye drops, ********. Despite repeated calls to the office manager at ********’s office, all we've received are promises, with no resolution in sight. It's frustrating, and she still doesn’t have the medication she needs.

I apologize for the delay in responding to your message.  I work from home
and was just forwarded the message yesterday (October 31, 2024).  I then
needed to speak with the manager in an attempt to find all of the
      details.

The manager did arrange for the patient to have free samples when the first
attempt was made for prior authorization (September 3, 2024) of the prescribed medication.  I
have been told when the prior authorization was originally denied the patient
was offered a generic of the medication and as of October 4, 2024 the daughter refused this alternative and stated they wanted the brand name.

The Rx Technician did submit an additional attempt to get the brand name prior authorized by the patient's insurance company yesterday.  We have no control over what an insurance company will covers.  This is an agreement between the patient and their insurance company.

      BBB Complaint ID: ********

      *** ******:

Responding to your August 27, 2022, notice of a complaint by patient, ***** ******, this particular patient had a combination of functional and cosmetic concerns that I feel were well addressed by the oculoplastic surgical and non-surgical recommendations that I made and he responded in a very satisfactory manner to the surgery performed. His treatment and results fall well within the realm of normal care and the charges for the patient's medical care were reasonable, necessary, and well within standard clinic and surgical charges for the same or similar treatments. I would always be happy to see him back to discuss any further concerns that he may have, including any complaints regarding the charges for our medical/surgical treatments.

However, I hope that you and the BBB can appreciate that, since this is a matter potentially involving legally protected personal health information, further disclosures regarding the patient and his medical care cannot be made without express consent of *** ******. If you or the BBB would like to discuss this matter further with me and can obtain the consent of the patient to any further discussions regarding his care, please contact me so that I can provide any additional information which might be helpful.

      With Best Regards,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

This procedure involves my eyes. Why would I want to go back to same place that failed already? Doctor didn't want to see me again after my expressed dissatisfaction with the results.
      Regards,

      ***** ******
