Called the Midwest office on Good Samaritan Drive. Asked to set an appointment to see Dr. for evaluation of cataracts. Was told that was his field of expertise.perspn answering phone stated only one in office. Took my name and phone number stating she would call me back. Stated would be sometime in June 2023 to get an appointment. That was May 2023. They never called me back. I called back after several weeks to get an appointment. Immediately I was told it would be very expensive and was encouraged to go to Cincinnati Eye Institute. Would not give me an appointment. A person heard the conversation and called Midwest to state she didn't understand why I wasn't given an appointment. The same person told her I would need to get a diagnosis and submit to them. I was not provided this information. I was asked what insurance I had. I told her. She stated she didn't see that insurance listed that they accepted I also told her I could self pay if my insurance did not cover it surgery was needed.I called my insurance company to get other eye centers. One of those centers was a Midwest Eye Center, around corner from where I live. They checked and the gentleman was extremely helpful and stated my insurance was accepted. He set up an appointment at the Good Samaritan Drive office. I got an eye exam and the physician sent the eye exam results to Midwest Eye on Good Samaritan Drive. Few days later I went to Good Samaritan Drive. I suspected they would state they didn't receive the eye exam and they stated exactly that. I had a copy with me and gave it to the receptionist. I asked if I was in the computer. I finally saw the doctor. The doctor stated surgery would be done in September 2023. I was sent to Reading Road office to get measurements. They stated they didn't receive those. Reading Road man that did measurements could not get any one to answer phone at the. Center. They were sent and in the computer. No one would return my calls about surgery date. Total run around.

I apologize for taking so long to respond to your complaint. I have been trying to pull information together.Let me first apologize to you. I am not sure what occurred with the initial phone calls because all Calls are directed to a Call Center and at no time would anyone be "working alone" or why it would take so long to call you back or why anyone would refer you to CEI. Once your provider referred you to the *************** for measurements and those were complete we dropped the ball and for that I am extremely sorry. Someone from the office should have gotten back in touch with you to schedule your surgery. As far as someone telling you it is very expensive. Depending on your insurance and if you have a copayment or deductible it is possible that you can have cataract surgery with a standard covered lens with no out of pocket expense. Again this is dependent on your insurance and possibly medical expenses you have had year to date. Cataract surgery has gone through a lot of changes and patients are able to select upgraded non-standard lenses that do come with out of pocket fees if they choose to go that route. Again I am sorry for your experience. I would be happy to speak with you if you like. You can call the Call Center ************ and ask for *****. I will give them your name and let them know they can send the call to my cell phone.

I have been extremely frustrated with Midwest Eye Center -both the company and the Kenwood location and will never go there again. I chose them as they were listed as an approved provider with my supplemental Medicare optical insurance which provides a free eye exam annually. I stated this to the scheduler I called for an appointment and was assured this was accurate. After my appointment as I checked out, I was asked for my medical co-payment. That was when I was first informed that this one and only Midwest location was NOT in the plan. And of course, I was eventually billed an additional amount towards my annual medical deductible. All of this for what would have been a free exam elsewhere. I did submit a complaint about all this to customer service and got no response., While waiting initially for my appointment, I perused the selection of frames and spoke with the individual in charge of actually selling/ordering glasses. He was determined that I should get the new digital lenses which would run me about $500 and repeatedly insisted that anyone who cares about their vision will not settle for anything else in a very arrogant manner. My insurance did approve a surgery for eyelid ptosis repair through a different location with Midwest Eye Center so I followed through and got this surgery in late fall. This surgery procedure included a follow-up visit which was difficult to schedule given the holidays and the availability of the doc at a convenient location. And, once again, after the appointment, I got a bill for the co-pay, and will undoubtedly get another bill as there will be a portion the insurance will designate toward the deductible. Not once did anyone say that the timing of the follow up would make a difference in billing. I contacted billing as post surgery follow-up is always included as part of the initial charge. Now I get a message that the inclusion of cost is only good for 90 days post surgery.

I had "annual exam" on 5/9/2022 but their ophthalmologist mistakenly wrote the diagnosis of Presbiopia (farsightedness) and this resulted to my insurance deny the charge.
Whining the last year I have to make several calls and spends several hours to find out their mistake but MidWest Eye was reluctant to accept it until eventually I had to ask my insurance to make a conference call. They finally accepted their mistake yet again continue to send me bills a year after the mistake they made. These late payment notifications are upsetting and frustrating specially given that I myself am a physician and yet could not help them to fix their broken system!

You go in to see if there’s anything can be done for your dry eyes. When you check out after paying co-pay, they hit you up with $49 refraction fee. You ask what that is and they tell you a bunch of Gobley goop not that it was an eye exam that you didn’t need and that they are forcing it down your throat without your knowledge.. if they’re scamming you they’re where else are they scamming you I will never go back..
