TGE installed my solar system last year. The work began on August 29 and the system wasn't up and running until December 3. It was a frustrating process for everyone.
My solar system went down and I contacted the company on May 25. I was told they would look into it to determine the problem. It is now June 6. NOTHING! I have lost 2 weeks of production. Other solar companies tell me they cannot help me, only TGE, the installers, can help me. They need to fix the system!!

Hello *** - we always strive to satisfy all of our customers and we apologize for the delay. You did leave out a lot of details in your message, though. We were brought in as a subcontractor to remove and reinstall your very old solar system, that we did not originally install. As you have discovered, the vast majority of solar installers will not touch the work of others for this exact reason. We wanted to help you, though, and are continuing to help. As you know, we had to replace a lot of faulty equipment throughout the process and continued to discover more issues with your original solar installation. We made many trips back to rectify the work of the original installer. We also worked with your roofer to obtain brand new solar panels for you (we are not aware that the new panels cost you anything, please correct us if we're wrong). We do not know the reason why your SMA inverter is not working properly, but we'll help you through it. You were also reaching out directly to one of our teammates who has been traveling a lot, and you did not reach out directly to the company itself until yesterday, to our knowledge. Now that you are in touch with folks who are at the office, it's easier to coordinate versus directly with someone who is in the field and traveling most of the time. Thanks for your understanding.

I engaged TGE Solar LLC, led by J**** C***** (JC), in June 2023 for a solar system installation with an expectation of offsetting 85% of my energy needs. The system cost was $27,366. Post-installation, the system underperformed, not achieving the promised energy offset.
Initially, JC attributed the issue to increased energy usage on my part. However, after verifying with my energy company, it was clear my usage had not changed significantly. When confronted with this data, JC admitted that the software used (Solo) might have miscalculated the offset.
To address the discrepancy, JC offered to install additional panels at no extra cost, acknowledging the shortfall in the initial setup.
Despite this offer, delays in scheduling prolonged the resolution culminating to a final exchange with JC's refusal to make things right.
Reviewing the original proposal I identified right away what the issue was, TGE Solar had calculated my annual average usage as 5.7Kwh which was grossly underestimated. My annual usage is 16.7Kwh. TGE Solar took advantage of me by using significantly inaccurate figures to sell me on a system that will never reach the 85% offset as originally proposed. I would have never gone with solar if I had known that I would only produce 28.2% on average annually in solar production as it is not cost effective. TGE Solar could have made a simple phone call to the energy company and obtained my actual annual usage instead of basing it solely on my May 2023 energy bill. Now I’m stuck with a $27K loan which has increased my monthly expenses and a system that will never pay for itself in the savings I’m supposed to be getting by switching to solar based on their proposal. As a resolution I believe TGE Solar LLC should either pay 71.8% of the remaining balance of my loan or pay for the installation of additional solar panels in the remaining available spaces in an attempt to bring my production up to 50% or more.

Hi ***** - we are very sorry to hear of this issue. As JC (J***** C*****), may have told you, he has stepped away from the business. Can you email ******************** your most recent electrical bill? We can proceed with discussing a solution from there. Thank you very much for reaching out!

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

We are still negotiating an acceptable outcome. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly.

      Regards,

***** asked for two more solar panels than we proposed as the solution. The team agreed to her suggested number of eight solar panels.
