As a contractor, I used Sherwin Williams for almost 100k in materials purchases. And I fell into a personal life situation. And they would work with me over 1,400 dollars. When I had spent close to 100k with their stores. And very unfair and unfriendly. They became harassing and sent me to collections even when they agreed not to if I made the minimum payment. I did. And they still sent me to collections. I will never use them again. They don't support Veteran business owners. Now will use other painting stores.

I hired a professional painter to paint my deck, porch, railing & shutters. I requested a higher grade, quality paint. A Sherwin-Williams product was recommended & applied. (SuperDeck, Deck & Dock Coating). 15 Gal @ $780 w/labor@ $3590.
After the initial job was done, after waiting a few days, I began moving furniture back onto the deck. This new paint scratched off wherever the furniture met the deck so I stopped moving the furniture onto the deck. Within a couple more days, I could "scuff" my foot against the decking & the paint would scrape off.
I contacted the painting professional & they agreed to redo the project and S-W would replace the original paint the following Spring. Shortly after the second application, the paint began scratching, flaking & peeling off. I contacted the painter who would not be redoing the job. I was disappointed & felt taken.
This Spring & Summer I began scraping & power spraying the decking, vertical slats & decorative trusses. The initial spray removed loose & bubbling paint. A couple weeks later a second spraying removed more paint. A third the same.
At this point I've spent numerous hours trying to remove the remaining paint & will eventually get it off but will not be using a S-W product again, ever.
A W-S rep came twice to evaluate the problem & recommend a solution. The second time his mgr came too. Part of the answer I received was natural elements affect the paint/application's longevity. I asked "AFTER 3 YEARS!? YOU MEAN THE DECK REQUIRED A 360 DEGREE APPLICATION!?" No acceptable answer was given. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
After a half-hour conversation w/the regional mgr, she offered a check to replace the cost of the paint. I pointed out the remaining faulty paint must be removed. Answer; "no a check will be sent w/in 2 wks or so".
The S-W customer support is pathetic. A check to cover the paint?! What about the time, effort & expense to remove the remaining paint?
      The deck's a disaster.
      BBB, can you help?

Absolut garbage customer service ! The Hollywood store ( on Western ) manager calls me and telling me a "red carpet sale " so I told him that eve since the 4% charge I don't buy anything from them, but I'm willing to give them a 2nd chance and I'll stop by next week. Today I went in figuring spending $ 4-600. worth of tools, so I started with an airless switch tips and go on to a dozen or so Purdy brushes and some exterior paint and so on .After getting ( in my hand ) the switch tip I mentioned the red carpet discount without any hesitation he said " ohh we don;t have it anymore " I handed the tip back to him and walked out .Dirty way of handling business on their part, I been a licensed California contractor for more than 3 decades and my paint company doing a heck of a lot more business with decent customer friendly paint stores. I end up getting my supply from Benjamin Moore ,and I will stay away from sehirwin williams at any cost, I also instructed my employees not to buy anything from them.

Wow! Dylan was super helpful, had a great attitude and quickly remedied my issue! I walked into the Sherwin Williams Paint Store on Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews, KY with a quart of Duration that I had gotten at another SW paint store a few days earlier. I immediately explained this to Dylan…told him I was shopping nearby and offered to go back to the other store…he jumped right in to helping me pronto! No trip anywhere else was necessary which I really appreciated even though my original purchase was made elsewhere! I received awesome and convenient service! I explained that I had checked the color of the paint that had been matched for me, and in fact it was an exact match. Weirdly enough, when I used it on my new crown molding trim, it did not match! Dylan knew exactly whatever do and saved me from buying a new quart! His trick worked and I am so happy I stopped in and received such great assistance! Nothing against that other SW store, just very pleased with Dylan‘s ability to save me time, money and of course put an end to the mystery of why the same exact color is not always the answer! I am super thrilled with Dylan‘s help and quick solving skills! Now I can get this done and move on to the next part of my renovation, amen! Can’t thank you enough, Dylan!

I wish I could leave less than Zero StarsI just bought a quart of white Valspar PAINT and primer and it is USELESS!!!! After watching SIX coats of pure white "PAINT" dry clear, I called customer service and was told it states on the can "must be tinted". And it does -in 1 point light gray type at the very bottom of the label while PAINT + Primer is what it is sold as in a much larger bolder font dead center of the label. So, now I wasted $20 and a half-day and Sherwin Williams customer service wants me to know it's all my fault. Which it is, for thinking that a familiar brand of PAINT produced and sold as PAINT + Primer (PAINT being the first word in the description) wasn't PAINT at all! How stupid of me to think a can of white liquid marked PAINT, from a PAINT company wasn't PAINT!! Now I have to go back and buy REAL PAINT and primer from ANYone but Sherwin -Williams. And they don't care.

Sherwin-Williams paint is supposed to be a high quality product.
      It is not!
They charge premium prices for paints that are low quality.
I painted my house with their top grade (Emerald) paint, and the paint is just pealing right off. Their customer service is horrible!!! Sherwin-Williams is now to the point that they're just avoiding me and not returning my phone calls.
